Gal Gadot and Margot Robbie nominated for Critics' Choice Awards for 'Batman v Superman' and 'Suicide Squad'

on Gal Gadot and Margot Robbie nominated for Critics' Choice Awards for 'Batman v Superman' and 'Suicide Squad'

The critics may not have liked Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad as a whole, but they enjoyed Gal Gadot and Margot Robbie's performances enough to nominate them for "Best Actress in an Action Movie".

It's DC Comics vs. Marvel in this category, with each side having an equal chance of winning. Here are the nominees:

Best Actress in an Action Movie

  • Gal Gadot (“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”)
  • Scarlett Johansson (“Captain America: Civil War”)
  • Margot Robbie (“Suicide Squad”)
  • Tilda Swinton (“Doctor Strange”)

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Amy Adams didn't make that list, but she was nominated separately in the "Best Actress" category for her performance in Arrival.

The 22nd annual Critics' Choice Awards will air on December 11th on A&E at 8pm ET.

    Well Gal donsent deserve it she was in it like 10 min and had a couple of lines wich some she was wodden in.

      My fear for the wonder woman standalone, she's fine in small roles but there is no way she can carry a movie in the lead role, Pine is basically going to be the one to carry it and her line delivery in the WW trailer doesn't give me much hope.

        Well, it happens in Thor film too. But Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston did a great job.
        Chris Pine sure does a great actor, I hope he can help Gadot's acting.

        She has years acting, mostly in israeli tv drama, she has more range than is commonly known, so far her film characters we're small to judge, and folks don’t like her accent,
        but she sold WW to (almost) everyone in 10 minutes.
        We'll see next year.

      I agree on the 10 mins point but on the wooden point I completely disagree.
      The greatest actors alive can only elevate a terrible script to a certain point or overcome a mediocre or outright bad director to a certain point.
      Often actors get too much praise or too much criticism, this is one of those cases. Gadot had a strong onscreen presence in her scenes but some of the dialogue that came out of her mouth was terrible. It's the same with the cringey do you bleed scene that Affleck and Cavill elevated the best they can.
      It's why I'm also confident if Leto, who is one of the best male actors working today, can get a good part in a Affleck directed and written Batman solo he'll turn out a fantastic performance.

          Fair enough. I've only seen her in two other films and both of those films were terrible overall so I'm not going to judge her on those. I think with Jenkins at the helm this will be the first time we will really be able to see how good she is. The good thing I think the casting crew did was build a really solid cast around her so even if she does turn out a turd of a performance there are three other good to great actors to carry this film around her. I'm excited for Wonder Woman my personal opinion is I think she will be very strong in the action scenes, it is the emotional, dramatic scenes that should be interesting to see.
          I am behind her either way, I want this film to succeed and I think if it gets good reviews it will do great at the BO but we shall see either way.

      Anne Hathaway got her Oscar for that singing movie and had really less screen time, and Leonardo Dicaprio wasn't even nominated for Django Unchained. He had more screen time than her.

    Margot should win. Tilda was great, but Margot really owned the role and created a new cult following for Harley. Scarlett is a minor side character in CW, and Gal was in BVS for like maybe 10 minutes and had limited lines so that wouldn't make sense.

    I would give it to Margot Robbie, though I admit I didn't see Doctor Strange so I can't comment on Tilda Swinton.

      I really tried with Doctor Strange but just like with Guardian of The Galaxy I was left wondering what was all the praise about. Ultra super generic plot ultra super generic lines & that so called amazing score where was it again? And the visual what was so amazing about having cgi kadeleoscop effects over and over? I really didn't enjoy the movie. Cumberbatch was good, the first 20min of the movie were fine but then it just plunge into an abyss of genericness and safetyness.
      And before you asks I don't have a problem with MCU movies I have a problem with MCU movies being treated like things they aren't; Civil War is a fun summer action flick not a Masterpiece, hell Winter Soldier and Days of Future Past are far more superior movies. Dr Strange is a basic comedy filled superhero origin not some groundbreaking film for the genre.
      If you want a fun movie about magic that's not afraid to go dark or deep go see Fantastic Beasts.

        I agree with you. All marvel origin movies have been very generic. And some of the others. The "non-generic exceptions would be: Avengers, CA:TWS, GOTG. That's it. What irritates me the most is how critics are calling the DCEU "too dark", mainly because marvel's long-run has spoiled them.

    Margot deserves the win. "Own that shit" she really owned the Harley quinn Character. I like Scarletts black widow but she doesn't really standout.

    But ZERO love for Batfleck, on the male side. Showing him breaking into LexCorp (Arkham City-style) to steal the Kryptonite, and finishing off the "saving Martha" scene, with a cool one-on-one fight with a masked KGBeast, would've earned BvS an extra couple hundred million bucks at the box-office, and a Best Actor in an action movie nomination, for Affleck.

      Same applies for Gadot and Swinton, Margot was the only one that gave a memorable performance and it truly felt like she's that character.

        I'm not trying to downplay Scarlet. I'm just confused on why she was nominated.

    Ha! i like the Marvel/DC final here, even if i couldn't care less for award shows.
    Margot has to take it, she nailed it, Harley is bigger than Mr. J right now (Joker?..Jesus?..)
    also because it was more her film, WW can have a chance next year with her solo to judge better,
    unlike WW, i thought Swinton was good, but forgettable, also Scarlet, which i like as Widow, but her character is the same since Iron Man 2, nothing new, also forgettable. And im also a DC guy so i cheer for my team ;)

    Tilda Swinton "acted" the most but Gal Gadot had the most presence. Throw a coin, i guess.
    WTF is Scarlett Johansson doing here though? She would deserved such a nomination for Cap2 but what did she do in Cap3, besides standing around a bit?

    Best Actor in an Action Movie has this nugget: Matt Damon (“Jason Bourne”)
    That film is unwatchable, i had to turn it off... I can live without a DC presence there, and Andrew Garfield should win regardless, but come on. Deadpool is now also (mainly) a comedy and not an action film, aha.

    BvS isn´t on the list, so i go with Hacksaw Ridge for best picture. 9/10 and the 2nd best film of the year.

    Extremely meaningless category, though. Good for them, sure, but means nothing. Gadot barely said a word, and mostly swung a sword in front of a green screen and it was enough for a nomination, that alone should be an indication. I can't wait for her movie, though. Looks legit as fuck.

    In my opinion, Amy Adams deserved the nomination, more than the one's, nominated. A win, in short, wouldn't have been surprising, I mean she did everything she could for it.

    I love Gal more than any of the other actresses nominated, but Margot deserves this one. She was great as Harley Quinn. It's the right choice.

    Margot deserves this one. Margot went above and beyond for Harley. She learned to hold her breath for five minutes! Not to mention she did the stunt in the elevator without any wires! And in heels!! She nailed the Boston accent and gave a flawless execution of Harley. If she doesn't win I'll be really mad. I love the other girls (especially Gal) but Margot just took it to another level. That's my opinion.
