Henry Cavill's manager confirmed that a new standalone Superman movie is in development, and now we have more confirmation from Lois Lane herself.

During a new interview with HeyUGuys, Amy Adams said that she found out about the new Superman movie just like the rest of us... by reading the reports online. But Adams went on to say "I know they're working on the script, and I know that it's in the works", making the project all the more real.

    Sweet... Man of Steel was flawed but the tone, approach, story and world are all things they nailed. Hope to see them continue in the same vein as the first film. I still remember those first three trailers for Man of Steel, incredible stuff.

      If the tone, approach, story, and world were all nailed, what did you find flawed?

      My only nitpick is Carol Ferris and her one-liner. She generally seems way out of character, but we'll see what happens with her later.

      To me, the highlight has to be the music. Good lord does it just powerfully grab the heart of the character and show us the light, struggle, and passion in him. Combined with the visuals, like the flowing of his cape... such poetry. :)

        The movie was choppy as hell for the first half, it didn't flow for me and the action at the end of the film, I felt, overtook the film. The Smallville fight was incredible, but it jet into action for the rest of the film when I needed a bit more time with the characters instead of seeing more destruction occur. I thought the film had more potential but I'm mostly satisfied with what I got.

        And yes, the music is great, still listen to the soundtrack to this day. I prefer the Dark Knight soundtrack though.

          By choppy, do you mean all the flashbacks and flashforwards?

          I personally really love that kind of storytelling/editing. It's part of why Batman Begins is my favorite Nolan Batfilm, but I remember people complaining about it there too.

          In both cases, I feel like the scenes that were flashed forward or backward from maintained an emotional or developmental relevance to each other, so we were essentially comparing elements of his current trials with his lessons growing up, and it was showing us what is shaping him into who he is going to be. I find it beautifully done.

            I love the flashbacks, but it was going back and forth between present and past way too quickly.

          If you are talking about Batman Begins then he became Batman right at the 1 hour mark; Man of Steel was 49 minutes when he first put on the suit, and 1:10 when he first became superman publicly. I don't see much of a difference. Man of Steel is only 2 minutes longer just so you know.

      My only big gripe was with the way Jonathan died. I wish they had given the man a heart attack like they did in the comics. It is a great way to show that there are some things not even Superman can stop. I thought the tornado thing was a little too grandiose.

        It was a cool idea, but didn't think it was executed as well as it could be. Good thing is, Kevin Costner and Henry Cavill were able to pull off the emotional side of it so I still kinda got a kick out of it.

        I liked that it made Pa Kent a hero in his final moment, and that it created more of a hard line in the question of 'What is the right thing to do?'

        It illustrates the intensity and turmoil in Clark's struggle with what to do with himself in his youth, and helps cement his future decision-making. He keeps faith in his father, even though it hurts him.

        The moment teaches Clark the ultimate discipline of restraint and the importance of societal perception in a big way. He's going to need those lessons as Superman.

          I just prefer the humbling lesson more I guess. It shows that he is not a god and there are somethings that are beyond him. "All those things I can do. All those powers. And I couldn't even save him."

    Yes, Superman deserves a great standalone movie. With the way DCEU is heading now, it could be the best Superman movie to date.

      Yeah, that would be nice....there are so many directions they could take, it's all very exciting. MOS was good, not great in my opinion but definitely the best Superman movie so far.

        They took too much time on the script, it´s bursting at the seams, but yeah. Best solo Superman film yet. Even a better reboot than the slight flawed Batman Begins.
        Superman vs. The Elite is the 2nd best and Superman 78 comes 3rd.

      Marvel and DC aren't really fanning the fire so much as the fans and a few of the actors.

      It's a shame, because as someone who loves both, my friends who pick one side make this face like they smell vomit when I bring up something positive about the other side. You can see in their eyes that they're like, 'He can't be serious'. Sigh.

      Yeah it is a shame. I love both Marvel and DC having grown up a Marvel fan I tend to lean in that direction but the DCEU is great too.

      Yeah, there's this sort of social pressure to not speak your mind on this stuff, and that's sad. The bigotry needs to stop.

      I love DC, I love Marvel somewhat less, but I do love them both. Not afraid to say DC is the clear winner for me though.

        For me it's marvel. I didn't and still may not watch SS. That's not to say I won't watch the others. Critics didn stop me from watching and liking BVS, but what my cousin who I trust told me about SS, plus a main character in tight little shorts, kept me and may still keep me from it.

          Harley is more clothed in the film than most of her comics in the last 5 years. These looks were one of the reasons why she now hit so big, with women too (her current co-writer is also a woman), so expect the look to stay.
          She is also a borderline nudist in the comics, she kinda runs a strip club, and she nearly raped Deadshot in the N52 Squad.

            Off topic, this morning I got a call for work, and as I passed this one town, I saw a huge cloud of dirt explode ahead of me, and then a car flipping across the highway. I approached slowly, saw the suv totaled across the highway, and a man lying on the street, moving. So I drove up some more, got out, and waved at people to slow down so they wouldn't run over him. Other cars stopped by him and I almost walked up, but I decided against it and left. Glad I did. My wife saw online that he got airlifted, but the passenger, who I was unaware of, died in the crash. Glad I left.

            Sex jokes bore me as well, I skip most rated R comedies and some pg13 ones on account of that, unless there's some other redeeming factor. I watched Deadpool without profanity and sex... HALF AN HOUR SHORTER. Wasn't even a movie anymore.

            The Deadpool comics are actually WAY less dick-joke-y but i liked most of the film´s sex humor, as the film bothered to use the R. All female charters were also shockingly flashed out. Fingers crossed for DP2.

          I liked SS well enough, but Harley's appearance does disappoint me. Great actress, but the character's been fumbled heavily since the 90s. Not her fault (or the movie's really). More DC's fault.

    I never got this complaint. MoS was a serious film for the most part, but it has several great moments of Clark smiling, and it's never an empty smile or for no reason, but always for a sweet or emotional story point.

    Even BvS had two beautiful smiles (off the top of my head) from Clark. The scene at the beginning where he shows up at their apartment while Lois is in the tub, and then just before he launches after Doomsday, saying essentially goodbye to Lois. 'You are my world.'

    How people don't appreciate these moments and act like he never smiles is lunacy.

      a big thank you for pointing this out. It's like people started to follow any crappy complaint and automatically forgot that Superman smiled in that movie. I mean, if people knew better, they would know Superman is not a buffoon who is always smiling. Even at the end of Superman the Movie he was truly desperate when Lois died!

        Very unfortunate that a movie as great as MoS was the victim of a witch hunt. It could have inspired so many more people the way Reeve's Superman inspired me as a boy.

          Totally, I wasn't even engage with Superman until that movie. Funny thing is there wasn't any hate towards this movie (some people against it, sure, but in the minority) until it became a trend with BvS

        Exactly people have this cheesy idea of who Superman is, but in reality the comics/cartoons pretty much anything except the Reeves films and early comic stuff have depth. Superman is tested and he is stoic, but he doesn't have some grin on his face. He is a pretty serious guy.

        I do also think most people have on rose-tinted goggles that make the Reeve Superman seem a lot more cute and cuddly than it really was. A lot of them pine for Cavill to be more like Reeve without realizing how much Reeve and Cavill's takes actually have in common.

        The 70's Superman film was certainly more light-hearted than MoS, and there were corny moments, but it did take itself seriously when necessary. So did the sequel. Reeve played a great serious Superman for the time.

        Now, I'm saying all this while also assuming that Superman III and IV are off the table, because they're obviously not considered by most to be worth being on the table.

      As if the hard part is to inject drama and emotion into this "comic book blockbusters", at least for viewers to accept it it seems, we got used to mindless action, then BvS comes along with scenes like "Martha" (which i like) and everybody looses their minds...

      Couldn't agree more in my life. It's like these so called "real fans" turned into haters with the mindset of a social justice warrior, I dare to say. They think their opinions and feelings are straight up facts. They don't know shit about these characters, yet they claim they do. Worst thing is, they want to force their opinions over yours. Pretty much every comment section in a nutshell, and if you don't agree, they'll straight up call you a sheep or a fanboy. Unfortunately we have people here with that kind of a mindset..... which is sad.

      As for MoS, calling it dark and gritty is the biggest lie you could tell yourself. It had a serious and optimistic tone from start to finish, throughout the entire movie. Calling Clark depressing and moody, a cold murderer? Did we even watch the same freaking movie?
      Watchmen and Dredd (2012) are great examples of what an actual dark and gritty movie is. By putting MoS in that same category, is completely ridiculous.

        "4 to 5 years" ago is what Aquamomoa gives. So 2012-ish. It´s pretty clear that Zack + Goeff had a strong vision going in. Being signed on doesn´t mean much if the universe starter bombs, as GL did in 2011. MoS though survived tough competition after questionable previous entries, so the DCEU moved forward, with some reshuffling. The often ridiculed Kevin Tsujihara is another key person, as he decided to bet on the connected universe, unlike his predecessor, who strictly wanted the opposite.

    Call the film "Superman: The Man of Tomorrow" (it´s a comic) and give me Supergirl + Braniac, with Snyder as a producer and plot constant. Finally have Clark married to Lois, unless JLA can close of with that.
    I waited 2 decades to have Superman: The Wedding Album adapted. Elements from Reign of the Supermen, as Steel, would be welcomed too.

    I hope they show Superman doing some more smaller scale deeds in this movie like stopping some robbers and saving a cat out of a tree. I want to see a little more of his human nature over the isolated alien we got in the last few movies.

        Have to agree, Snyder made a perfect job in both MoS and BvS depicting Superman's god/like side, but he needs to go "back to the hoods" in a more tender way, especially now that he will most likely be back in a full arc.

          The humanity of Superman is always up for debate, and BvS skipped the positive half of his reception, but Clark needs to anchor him, and that work well so far. Having him settle in a daily life (be it a reporter, farmer or whatever) will be key in a solo film.

            I would say BvS did show the positive side of his reception. People worshiped him, it was described that he gave them hope in hopeless times, etc.

            The thing is that the conflict of the movie was the whole point - and that's the case of any superhero movie. So, Batman doesn't trust him, obviously, and that becomes the major focus for us as viewers.

            The positive side of his societal reception is still there though. Just look to the people in the flood scene, the scene where he is swarmed by all those people that reach out to touch him, or listen to what Lois says to him when he doubts himself. There were also plenty of pro-Superman sign holders amongst the 'Go Home!' folks.

      When was the last time he saved a cat in the comics? Superman 713 in 2011? Stopping a robbery or saving a crane operator (a classic) get´s my approval. It will need to be his home life though that grounds the Man of Steel, as in let´s say Rebirth, and BvS set that up well by the end.

      I may have found the last time he saved a cat and trashed truck. The DCEU would be crucified for doing something as this... Lol.

    I don't care what anyone says. But someone in HOLLYWOOD IS TRYING TO RUIN DC MOVIES. And it started with BVS. Cause honestly it wasn't a bad movie. It's just long. And a once or twice watch. But so what. And now because of that, Ben Affleck. ( A ) is their number 1 scape goat for being a " bad Batman ". Which to me, he did a good job. -and yes in the beginning. I hated the idea. But " what other rich ass hole, to play a rich ass hole." And now ( B ) his Batman movie and the new Superman movie are supposedly not good??? ... yea ok. Someone loves marvel. Because for these two titans to start the process. -and green light suicide squad. And not have good writers. Is alil fucked and awkward. And if it wasn't, I guess for Margot for being a sexy Harley and making dead shot -will smith. They would hate as well. Buuutt imma need Hollywood to make these solo Batman movies look like something outta the ( ARKHAM GAMES) obviously. And make Superman great. And the league and the rest better be AWESOME. But enough said. Bye

    I have been left in the DCEU with such little faith after suicide squad. BvS while enjoyable to me was not a good enough film. A film with Batman and Superman should be excellent and it just ended up being meh. If WW is bad i'm going to have to drop out of the DC side of the movies.

    Imo none of the people they've cast didn't do justice to Lois Lane, maybe I'm just too ingrained with Dana Delaney's representation of her but the animated series version was spot on. It's sad they haven't been able to adapt to that.

      Amy Adams' Lois is similar to the 90s toon take. She just has a less sultry voice and demeanor. Everything else is really close though. She's strong, she's clever, she calls out the BS, she sticks herself into the fray, she can be sarcastic even in the face of people that could do terrible things to her, and so on.

      I think she's doing a good job, and I like her chemistry with Henry - and with Laurence Fishburne.
