We knew that Steppenwolf was the main villain in Justice League, and now we know who is playing him!
According to The Wrap, Game of Thrones star Ciaran Hinds has been cast as Steppenwolf. Hinds provided motion capture for the character, meaning he'll likely be fully CGI.
The Wrap says Steppenwolf's look will be "upgraded" from what we saw in the deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. You can check that out below.

I think doomsday is the throwaway villain there, lex's presence was consistently there in the entire movie

Supes is dead you fool and Doomsday didn't just drop out of the sky.
I mean he somehow learned the identity of batman and superman, created doomsday, contacted another huge threat, engineer the capital bombing which cripple superman's morale and infuriates batman, that doesn't sound like a typical throw away villain
And why? The lack of motivations instantly turn him into a throwaway villain.

Lex did a lot of damage. He manipulated everybody and killed Superman. How is that throwaway? Lex and Zod are up there with the best.

The article says he's been in a mo-cap suit, so they're definitely getting his performance!
I guess that's my concern, though; once you have the performance in mo-cap you can be as detailed or as general as you want with it so I'm hoping his performance doesn't get lost in the tech.
I can get behind this, though I think he's more well-known as Julius Caesar in Rome than for his role on Game of Thrones.

Sweet! The DC villain is SO important. Even though Justice League's strength will mostly have to come from the interactions between the heroes. Ideally, you want the villain to be a scene stealer. And I'd like Steppenwolf to be a scary @$$ Motherchucker!!!😈😈

Like Ironside is perfect cause his role as Fisher especially in Conviction prepared him for this.

I don't know if you actually read Final Crisis or just found this on the internet. But the way they introduce Darkseid in that story is freaking scary and I would kill to see it on the big screen. If it ever happens, Michael Ironside would be technically playing Dan Turpin turned Darkseid.
I even listed to the audiobook... Boss Darkseid was also introduced in "7 Soldier of Victory".

Well I'd rather you read it for yourself. Describing the whole event won't do it Justice. Unless you insist of course. But if you choose to read it, get ready to start scratching your head at every page turn, that's how Grant Morrison writes his story. Don't if he's too much of a genius for my brain to comprehend or that he's a really messy writer. I've had some relatively extended DC knowledge and I still had to go to YouTube to fully understand what happened.

Well the story focuses on more things other than just Darkseid, it's a whole DC event. There's the monitors, the multiverse, the new gods, the lanterns and other things involved in it too. Plus the art helps create a sort of feeling I can't describe. I say give it a shot. It's not a very long read, but it would require a bit of focus to fully comprehend.

If Ironside got cast as Darkseid.... That'd be the perfect choice. I just wish he had a bigger role in the JL Cartoon. I still rewatch his parts. His voice is so sinister and commanding.
Well with today's technology, all you need is his face. The body can be created digitally. I'm not totally on board with how performance capture was used for Thanos. So I was thinking of a blend of two things: Putting Michael Ironside's head on the body of a bulky guy (the opposite to what they did in Captain America). Then using some camera tricks to make him look relatively bigger than the rest of the characters (Kinda like how they made Gandalf look taller than the hobbits).
Of course he's gonna be upgraded from BvS since that was not really steppnwlf but a Kryptonian projection just like those in MOS. Anyway I like the casting he got a great vilain face.

Terrific choice and terrific actor! Nice the fact he worked on 'Excalibur', kinda makes that a full circle for Snyder. If people aren't hyped yet for Steppenwolf, now is the time.

When do you guys think we will get an official trailer for JL. I don't count the comic con footage as a trailer, while it was cool it was so early into production. I would hope we get one with fantastic beast.
They day we get to hear that JLA 1 is a mess and that Snyder will burry genre... Can´t wait /s.

Since BvS Final trailer got no traction they'll probably stay clear of that.
I dont think its important who plays a fully cgi character. I only think its important when it comes to his voice acting. I still think its an odd choice to make Steppenwolf the justice league villain. I would have preferred braniac all the way

The King Beyond the Wall is a GoT reference, so i adjusted. He leads Darkseid´s army in the books and is very loyal, despite being way older.

I like how beyond the Source Wall there are said to be some omnipotent, cosmic beings. I like to think DC is referring to its writers and artists. That's so meta!

I watched Excailbur after BvS and was surprised how much of a tribute it was. I also love how Kal-El's death parallels Jor-El's (someone made a .gif). Has that been done in comics before?
Not like this, but the biblical way Superman is carried and cried over by Lois after his death is from the books. He and Doomsday punched each other into submission in the 90s. He pas been poisoned before, but no shiving i can recall. Even the prisoner died similarly, hm. The Joker tried to kill Bats in DKR similarly. The way he pulled himself though the blade was very anime btw.

Lonely swings (Clark´s dead father, i guess) is older than Naruto, and the manga is better than the anime
I skip all the fillers so it's more or less the same to me. The last few episodes have been really great though!
The animation has mostly been abysmal since the time-skip and the pacing of the non-filler parts (the endless flashbacks...) is a joke. Pierrot just sucks as a studio and the manga deserves better. Which is unfortunate, as Part 1 (till the files i skipped) was well adapted.
Ah, yes, the flashbacks do get annoying so I just skipped past them. The beginning of Part II had good pacing too but soon got more heavy-handed. The last few episodes have really gotten back on track. Loved the battle between Naruto and Sasuke which actually used the flashbacks quite effectively!

I know, I just hope they give him a human face like he has in the comics, but since his design is nothing iconic it wouldn't be too bad if they changed it in some way. Well at the end of the day I just hope they nail Darkseid the way Marvel nailed Thanos.
After Ultron, Colossus, hell, even Thanos, im a bit tired of this full CGI creatures, unless the story demands it, like Doomsday, he is truly a monster, so he's out of the list, well, Colossus also needed some upgrade,..but i mean, they can keep his face, which would be a fresh look on this full mo cap designs, and still remain very close to the comic, so im with you.

I believe the suit will be CGI rather than his whole design. I dont see the need to make his face CGI expect maybe eyes.

The set report we that Stephen wolf is only about 6-7 feet tall so I think his cgi will be tamer than doomsday
