on Marvel's Benedict Cumberbatch says he can't wait to team up with... Batman?!

Everyone loves Batman! Even the star of Marvel's latest hit, Doctor Strange.

During a promotional interview, Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch was asked which other characters and actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe he's looking forward to teaming up with in the future, and apparently Batman was on his mind!

"I'm going to say Spider-Man, Batman... wait he's not in it, Hulk, I'll say all of them," Cumberbatch told ComicBook. Later on in the interview, Cumberbatch revealed that Tim Burton's Batman got him into American comics as a kid, and that he was obsessed with the movie! Check out his comments in the video below.

In Cumberbatch's defense, he did say he had been promoting the movie all over the world before arriving in Los Angeles for this interview. He had been in Hong Kong and Shanghai just days prior.

Still, it's funny that Batman was one of his answers. Maybe one day we'll see a big Marvel and DC Comics movie crossover. It has happened in the comics, after all!

Tbh I remember at a Con few years ago he said he wanted to play Batman. Dude would've made an awesome Brainiac or Dr. Fate for that matter. That voice alone!

Dear community, don´t start a shit-show over Sherlock Strange´s critical reception. Just be happy the MCU has more luck with critics. They aren´t the "enemy", they make good films, and we have other problems.

Ironically, it is because of Marvel that studios believe that DC still has a puncher's chance to get this thing right. If Marvel started to flub it, I think most studios would begin to move away from the comics and into something else. DC fans have to give Marvel (STUDIOS, NOT PARTICULARLY FOX) some props for keeping the genre breathing while they get their sh** together.

That's what I remember from the first trailer, thought maybe superman went berserk on him. Didn't watch the next trailer. The, uh, Doomsday one. Still wouldn't have guessed it was him, unless his eyes glowed in that trailer or something. Never thought of him as kryptonian, more of a hulk I guess.

Agreed. Great moment for Wonder Woman, and even Batman, considering he realized the world has changed. As for Supes, knowing he'd die and guessing he'd return dampened his death a bit, but it still worked in the narrative.

Doubt it'll top SS's box office. That might be enough to put DC over marvel for the year, I mean, BVS wasn't that much under a bill nor was ca:cw that much over. Next year won't really count what with 2 movies against 3, so, I just find this year particularly interesting, since more than likely, from '18 forward, it'll be 3 against 3, at least until it isn't!

Agreed, it isn't, but that's boring! I don't like fanboyish arguing or trolling, but I do like academic "this one made more, this one has better reviews" type of discussions.
For instance: iron man makes bank. 4 movies he's in have passed a billion. Batman can do the same with good reviews. But the MCU films he's not in, barring gotg, make less than DC films.

        1. Chris Avatar
          ChrisBatman News Archive

There's such a misconception around Rotten Tomatoes. They don't review anything. They allow critics to submit their reviews and say if it was good or bad. Then those results are averaged together and you get the score. They only allow certain critics to submit their reviews too, they don't let everyone in.

Do I trust critics in general anymore? No way! I understand that BvS isn't for everyone, but I have no idea how someone could watch Suicide Squad and not have a good time.

          2. Chris Avatar
ChrisBatman News Archivereplying to Ryan Keith Allen

Rotten Tomatoes doesn't decide that. The critic gets to assign "Rotten"or "Fresh" to their reviews when they submit them.

Also i understand RT score of 100 percent does not mean it's a perfect movie 10/10 reviews from everyone just means all the reviews were positive

Nope because of Dark Knight Rises and the professional critics giving that favorable reviews when it deserved to get trashed like BvS Theatrical Cut and Suicide Squad did

Doesn't matter what company it's from Marvel Disney DC Fox Pixar the critics all have bias either for or against said companies until professional critics decide to actually act professional when it comes to their reviews i will avoid all supposed professional critics like the plague

RT´s standard for submission is fairly low though. They also have a problem with troll reviews from random blog sites that don´t even address the films they reviews in their write-ups (the rotten ones for Star Wars VII have a few for example).
RT´s editorial´s are... problematic to say the least in regards to impartiality.
The biggest mess though is that critic´s get to choose the binary tomato, which kills ANY pretense of logic, and the average rating isn´t further pointed out as being the "real" score. (It´s also useless for TV reviews. Look up the 100% Arrow S04 got.)
PS: WB owns that site, the irony.

Suicide Squad was my most anticipated DC movie this year, but it didn't quite do it for me. It was okay, but I preferred BVS and Marvel's movies. I'm glad you had a good time with Suicide Squad. Fortunately I haven't hated any superhero movie this year and I've seen them all so far. :)

My most anticipated DC movie for 2017 is a toss-up between The Lego Batman Movie and Wonder Woman (leaning towards Lego Batman).

        2. Sense Avatar
          Sense

I think the problem with rotten tomatoes is that there are like 40 to 50 real actual critics and the rest are just a bunch of amateurs that post stuff online. They need to be more selective as to who is allowed to contribute to the Tomatometer. And the other problem is that most of them are completely over superhero movies and tend to hate anything that's not at least partially made for children.

          My opinion of course

          1. Reese Evans Avatar
            Reese Evansreplying to Sense

The Tomatometer is misleading because it comes down to an oversimplified "Yay" or "Nay". This usually creates a disparity between the Tomatometer and the average rating on its own site. At the time of writing, the average rating for Doctor Strange is fully 2.6/10 lower than its Tomatometer.

      2. residentgrigo Avatar
        residentgrigo

I fully expect the film to be good, even if it is "another" Ironman remake, but the 6.9/10 is technically the "real" RT score. Not that anyone cares and that site is shit anyway.
Use MC, where Strange now has a 73%: http://www.metacritic.com/m...

Good attitude, lots of people give origin stories a hard time, but I mean, there's only so much trauma imaginable that can motivate heroics; lose your skill, your illusion of NOT supplying terrorists, your uncle, your parents, your planet, your sight, your visitation rights- loss. That covers that part.
Villains, man, I don't have time to write the book it would take to cover that, so I'll just say, opinions.

    2. OneManReignofTerror Avatar

From the reviews, it seems to be a story similar to Iron man 1 with trippy visuals.. And Mads Mikkelsen's villain is not fleshed out enough to understand from Where he is coming and y he is doing what he is doing.. So, another Marvel movie with a lackluster villain. But Feige did mention that they focus more on the hero than the villains, so that was expected.. I'm guessing it will be in the 600-700$mil range (worldwide) .. If people watch it in Imax more..

well it has long been said that Batman basically is DC´s most Marvel-esque character. He would actually fit right into the Marvel Universe when you look at darker characters like Moon Knight, Daredevil or Punisher.

DC is generally more about the godlike, scifi, bigger then humanity-type of characters while Marvel is very much about human flawed superheroes that are more relatable to the normal people. Its less scifi and more reality-based then DC (of course both universes also have big scifi and very human, grounded characters). So yeah just from the concept alone, Batman would be a natural fit for the Marvel Universe. at least in the comics.
