Gal Gadot explains how her 'Justice League' co-stars are like their characters

HeyUGuys caught up with Gal Gadot to talk about her new movie Keeping Up with the Joneses, but naturally another big movie of her's was brought up as well.

Gadot was asked what it was like being a part of Justice League, and she revealed that every actor was different, and actually a lot like the superhero they were playing.

"Literally, each and every one of them is the character in a weird way. Henry has this good will, and is polished and pure. Ben is more cynical, and more dark, and more... Batman-y," Gadot explained.

It sounded like Gadot was being very sincere, but once she got to Jason Momoa and Aquaman, her Keeping Up with the Joneses co-star Jon Hamm couldn't help but make a joke.

"And Aquaman... Jason is this huge dude," Gadot said. "And loves fish," Hamm joked. "And he drinks water!" Gadot joked back. Poor Aquaman. Let's see if Momoa can put all those jokes to rest when Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.

We don't deserve Ben Afflecks Batman... I cringe way too hard when people tell me Bale is better than Affleck.

his performance of clark kent-superman is everything cavill isnt,what a shame that a tv series got it right and the movies got it so wrong.

  Well Cavill is a young Superman in an other earth. Not an experienced Superman who's there for years. Deal with it. If you don't like him, you have your supergirl show so that you can be happy.

    well said. Cavill's Superman (like Affleck's Batman) is a character with a lot of depth. With a real character arc. A more mature take on the character. When he cries, smiles or gets angry, it has a real meaning. Tyler is a lighter character good for Supergirl show, but for the movies it's too simplistic.

    As much as I love Reeve's Superman portrayal, I prefer the journey Cavill's Supes is going through. So much more depth and meaning without all the excessive cheese and camp of the 70s and Supergirl show...

  Watched both Supergirl episodes... In what way has that Superman owned Cavill. I must've missed something but Cavill feels very grounded and emotional. It's not an old school action comics corny Superman. He's very aware of his consequences and carries the weight of the world on his shoulders just like Superman should.

  I want the DCCU Superman to be more optimistic and joyful.... But I would rather have the most emotional, brooding, insecure Clark Kent / Superman over the cringy and cheesy af Superman we got on the CW. No thank you.

  He did what every actor that is to afraid of the obesssed Reeve fan base and the critics that can't let go of their childhoods has done his the last Reeve Superman film, ripped off Reeve. At least Cavill and Snyder had the courage to bring a modern take of the character to our screens.
  Honestly I could never relate to the Reeve performance either, a perfect farm boy that never makes any mistakes and has a gee golly attitude. I much prefer Cavill's, in particular MoS, warm, hopefully but not perfect, normal guy.
  I used to think of Superman as an outdated American relic that I wouldn't give the time of the day, then I saw MoS and I loved the hero for all people, strong, symbol of hope but ultimately a guy who had special gifts and even before he became Superman wanted to do the right thing, that is a Superman I could love.

I'm having DCEU withdrawal, I can't wait for the year to end so that the real hype and countdown to WW & JL can truly start. I can't wait to be in the midst of it all again , the rumors the magazine covers, the trailers,the prequel comics, one or two Snyder controversial interview the inevitable fanboy wars with our Marvel friends, or the pissing contest against the so called critics us being mad at them destroying the movies them being mad at us for rubbing the Box Office records in their faces. I just miss it all already

  You should bother to read Snyder´s interviews. They tend to be very informative and insightful.
  It´s hardly his fault that a bunch of blogger bullies love to misquote and insult him out of context.
  That Ayn Rand debacle (a self serious The Fountainhead would be amazing) was something else and let´s not even start with the Bat-rape allegations.

    He has said that he doesn't want to portray a super hero at all, and he was one of Snyder's first choices for superman, as he wanted an older and more experienced Superman for Man of Steel at first... I doubt he'd ever even consider playing discount Superman that needs to share the protagonist role with a kid... He's also old for Shazam.

  I'm guessing they didn't go full Darkseid so the heroes could have more of a background story. My guess is they are investing in building the team first, so they can later fight a big (the biggest) menace.

    Watch Justice League: War or read the New52 opening of JLA it adapted. Both are a prefect expatiation why you can´t start with Darkseid without messing up his character.

I'm starting to feel bad for actors in the comic book cineverse. Here to promote one film but always get asked about something a year down the line has to get annoying as hell. Especially for the co star that has nothing to do with it. Granted Jon Hamm could've been Batman soooo.... lol

The BIG one is Henry Cavill. He seems more like "classic" Superman in interviews, than he has in both MoS and BvS. I'm confident that'll change.   Hoechlin is good by "CW standards" but he isn´t outclassing anyone. Besides nonsense as Returns / Smallville and all that 90s shovel ware i even disliked as a child. There is also ZERO depth to his charter as of now. I can guarantee you that the writers of the "CW saved Superman" editorials haven´t read a Post Crisis (or Bronze Age) Superman comic in their life.     About 99% of the internet, would disagree with you. Simply showing the character smiling and cracking a joke, while upbeat music played in the background, was enough for most people. LOL But Cavill, Snyder, and Geoff Johns, have a golden opportunity to improve the cinematic perception of Superman.

        Rebirth is doing the same right now. He is fulfilled as a person when he is with his family and somewhat burdened when he put´s on the cape. I can hope that JLA or MoS 2 closed on this gem as there is way more story to be told.

Instead of pulling up old comics that Geoff Johns has written. Maybe you should count how many times Geoff Johns will use the words "positive" and "optimistic" in his interviews, to describe how Batman, Superman, and Justice League will be, going forward, coming off of the BvS backlash.         MoS was that "middle ground". That film´s theme was further hope/birth and JLA is about re-birth. A darker film with BvS doesn´t forever color a charter and the biggest probe with the recent Geoff interviews is that you NEVER get the context.

        Yeah, Geoff Johns talking about the hope and optimism that was injected into the Justice League script, and what the heroes will represent in the upcoming movies. What he said about Batman, was perfect! Paraphrasing, "Despite the brooding, if he wasn't a hopeful character, he wouldn't even bother being Batman".
        Obviously you know that MoS was criticized by many vocal critics and Superman fans, for being too dark, too serious, and not having enough fun and levity. You can like both MoS and BvS (like I do), without burying your head in the sand, and pretending that the DCEU Superman characterization is just fine, and doesn't need to be improved in the upcoming films. A couple of tweaks are indeed necessary, to make him a more likable and profitable version of Superman.

        You CAN do a whole film of happy-go-lucky Superman, i would watch it, but you will need to have a good idea to back it up. I never get to hear one though if people keep telling me that Snyder "broke" Superman...
        I am also not sure how much mass appeal such a film would get, if compared to another MoS style action film. BvS was a
        dark take on the DCEU but i wouldn´t say the same about its prequel. Only the death count of named characters and obviously civilians stood out. Snyder set him up well, and his story is progressing close to the 80s/90s comics. So far so good.

        Cool. And most people's bodies are ready for a more likable Superman. You seem pretty satisfied with what you got in BvS, the lack of dialogue, the arguing with his boss, not fully embrassing his leadership role in the world, listening to his haters, etc.
        The DCEU needs a lot more out of that character, in order to reach it's full potential. Geoff Johns, WB, and a humbled Zack Snyder, know what they have to do. And based off of recent interviews, they're on the right track.

        They will always reply you by saying the same things over and over... But one thing they can't deny, Superman's death was the worst ever because it failed gloriously in being emotive and was completely wasted considering we got a "hey guys, I'll be back!" just 10 minutes after it happened. So sad to see such a great and legendary story be wasted like that, this Superman was not relatable at all, period. I really do hope that they fix this issue in the next movies.

        Yeah but...what more did you need out of a live-action Death of Superman movie, that BvS didn't give you? Showing the world mourn his heroic death, inspiring Batfleck to become a better hero, and lead other heroes. Or even inspiring the Suicide Squad to be formed. LOL That's good stuff!
        And assuming you didn't love Doomsday, and how he was used in BvS; First, the fight allowed Gal Gadot to look awesome as Wonder Woman while battling him, forcing people to want to see more of her in her own movie. Second, perhaps the OG, greyhaired, green cargo shorts wearing, ambundantly spiked out Doomsday, straight outta the comic books, is still alive in the DCEU, waiting to get his shot at Superman.

        You really think his death was well utilized?? Besides being pointless - yes, I'm raising the point that wonder woman could do it since she was holding him with lasso for nothing - and incoherent - how could he fly for so long at a high speed while holding the spear? Considering Superman is strong enough to throw the spear to the other side of the country why didn't he throw it at Doomsday?? - it wasn't emotive at all for the death of the arguably greatest superhero ever that is known and by 90% of the general audience, while the fake death of Groot that wasn't known by 90% of the general audience dropped a whole lot more tears - considering Superman's death dropped any tears. I know that people were sad over Groot only because he was cute, but cute still counts as being relatable, I'm not trying to say Superman should be cute lol, just more relatable! They should only kill Superman in a well established universe with a well established Superman, so we can have a great actually sad funeral with all of the fellows heroes attending, instead of a cliche movie funeral with slow motion cannons and bagpipes(?)! Just my opinion.

        Not really I don't honestly care about superman's death in the comics, it will take too long for him to establish superman before the death and pretty much all of these actors has passed 30 so they have to do it sooner than later, sure it could be flesh out more but they use it as a turning point for the world which kinda works now with likely more superhero following his example, just do it or never at all, that is the problem with it in the 1st place

        Superman's death is not the worst ever because well in MoS the people of the world learn that we aren't alone in the universe and in top of that that we have aliens living among us. So how would the people of Earth react to such events and after the destruction of part of a city due to the arrival of aliens species to Earth that not only invade our planet they want it to Terraform it.
        Well you pretty much saw that reaction on BvS in where some people love this new alien with superpowers or powers beyond human capacity because well he save the planet twice for the menace of alien domination and human race extinction. While other, albeit due to fear; hated his presence because they weren't sure about the true intentions of this alien with powers to wipe out the entire human race. I think this reactions are very much humans and very real. In top of that add that you have the US government telling you that you should worry plus Lex Luthor a billionaire that has the publics favor and BOOM the fear some people have becomes hate. What would do any regular person if people is questioning say person's existence? Well said person would have doubts and be questioning things, would have call its love ones, etc. Pretty much what Cavill's Superman did which is why a lot of people says he is very relatable. So then you go to this hearing to try and defend yourself but everything goes bananas and the world now thinks worst of you. And you also blame yourself because you couldn't save those people lives albeit it was due to the chair be cover in lead but you didn't knew that. So you go in a mountain trip willing to die to try and find some answer which the spirit of your father gives to you (very touching moment) and you come back exactly when need it most which is when another major treat is hitting the world. So you fight which all you have including your life, sacrificing the most precious thing anyone could have (life itself) to save this world that has rejected you so much despite you always trying to do the right thing but he IS Superman so he affirms to the love of his life that even though all the bullshit this is your world and you must defend it and you do but you die. Of course, after being witness of such selfless act people now love him and honors his death. And when he comes back to life on Justice League in a moment of need, in that specific moment when the world most needs him everybody will have a reason not only to love him and feel inspire by him but to call him a Beacon of Hope.
        If all this sounds awful to you and to Captain DC then I think you guys aren't much of a fans. Movies and TV Shows will never be 100% accurate to comics but if it serves a narrative it shouldn't be a problem.

    Thank you. Because it really drove me mad seeing ppl saying "Hoechlin outclasses Cavill". It's just the sickest thing to say knowing Cavill/Snyder brought one of the best (to me, Cavill is the best) Superman on the screen.

        Logic?! RANT TIME: Perhaps the logical thing for Supes to do before he pushed Batfleck about twenty feet, and engaged him in battle, was to THOROUGHLY explain the whole mother getting kidnapped thing. He didn't have to wait until the end, but Snyder and Terrio's flawed BvS script made him. Perhaps Superman should've been concerned about, and STOPPED the henchmen Batman was chasing, before wrecking the vehicle, and giving his "The Bat is dead" warning. The "no one stays good forever" line, was...ill-advised.
        Needing the ghost dad pep-talk on why he should believe in his Superman purpose, after Ma Kent had Lois Lane had already given him one, was...ill advised. When Supes flies the terrorist dude out of the cave while saving Lois, WTF did he do afterwards?!! LOL I really like BvS, but there's plenty of WTF moments in it.
        So yeah, many fans wanna see the character behave more like the logical Big Blue Boyscout, like Tyler Hoechlin was allowed to portray.         Even official sources just shows how much CW is all about smiling and shit and no comic bookish at all.

        But it was already made clear that Batman wasn't gonna listen to him. Superman didn't know why Batman was chasing a Lexcorp truck. He just saw Batman causing all kinds of destruction. And Superman isn't the police, he can't just tell the company vehicle to pull over and show him their cargo. The ghost dad pep-talk wasn't about believing in his purpose. It was about enduring the burden and consequences. Lois was trying to make him see why he continue being Earth's hero while Martha was just telling him that she's okay with whatever choice he makes.

        In the scene where Batman (a human being wearing a metal suit) gets in Supes' face, Supes goes from fully trying to explain that he needs help because his mom has been kidnapped, to violently pushing Batman a long distance. He TOTALLY started it! And then after he easily destroys Batman's booby trap weapons, he SILENTLY engages a human being without super strength, in a fight, and conveniently doesn't bring up his kidnapped mom, until the last second, when he's about to die. "Save Martha"! "I'm telling you this, because even though I disagree with some of your methods, I know that you save and protect innocent people"! "My name's Clark, by the way"! "Too bad we didn't have an actual conversation like two adults, earlier on"!
        In the scene where Supes interrupts Batman's Batmobile chase (killing spree 😁) the cargo truck was trading gunfire with Batman. Presumably Supes used his superhearing/supervision to know this. Obviously he should've been interested in WTF was going on, and stopped both vehicles.
        As for the pep talks. I actually thought all three were basically saying "haters gonna hate, you're here to help people, do your best, even if the results or the reactions, aren't always perfect". I want Superman to be the one giving that advice, in future DCEU films. Thanks for reading, BvS was flawed but still awesome, and I expect Justice League to be very entertaining, and a lot less flawed.

        True, but Superman wasn't in his right mind either just like with Batman. Superman was desperate, and Batman clearly showed that he won't listen. And beforehand, Clark was told that words won't work on a pissed off guy like Batman. Add the mini beatdown that Batman gave to Clark, and of course Superman is gonna say "Fuck it" and start fighting back. And yeah, Superman could've easily ended the fight, but I didn't fault the film much for that since it's very hard to write conflict with someone as powerful as Superman.
        And again, Superman can't do that because he's not law enforcement. If he even tried, I'm sure Lex would spin a lie and say that Superman is abusing his power. And as for those weapons, Lex could easily say that he has to keep his guards armed in order to prevent people from stealing high-tech, and possibly, dangerous equipment.

    I disagree with you on this one. At the beginning I was skeptical, but after BvS she completely owned that role and changed the minds of the masses. I would go as far as saying she stood out more than Ben and Cavill in their roles. As far as her beauty, always thought she was hot, now even more so, she has that kind of classy beauty, elegance, and sexiness which are rare to find in one woman.

        She was a highlight. WW and JLA will again be praised for her acting in the role and less so the other things. The DCEU will be the only tv / cinematic universe where even hardened haters would keep the actors in case of a reboot.

      Her longest scene was probably 2 minutes when she was talking to Bruce. Her standalone will be the true test to see if she is capable of pulling WW of and if she can hold a movie on her own.

        Even Rebirth is going back to the Crisis roots, as that is where the current DC continuety comes from. I am all for it and Watchmen got him into DC comics in that decade, as he was into adult targeted EU comics.

Hamm for Black Mask. I wouldn't want to see Black Mask in The Batman solo movie, but, also, kinda, I don't want to see any of the previous Batman rogues we had opportunity to see on a big screen so far.

Henry Cavill's personality is much more similar to the original Superman than the role he was given, but hopefully it's going to change after his rebirth. As for Ben, he's pretty much in character 24/7 now.

      Earth 2 is a 60s concept and that very switch turned his no-nonsense attitude (+ killing) down though retcons. He was a Samaritan in the OG Crisis but Infinite Crisis went somewhat dark with the 38 original and even killed him via Superboy Prime. Prime is the Superman from our “real” world btw. Very meta.
