on Henry Cavill's manager confirms solo Superman movie is in the works

Last month it was reported that a standalone Superman movie is in "active development", and now we have some official confirmation!

Dany Garcia, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's manager (and ex-wife), has been managing Henry Cavill since April. In a new interview with Newsweek, Garcia spoke about her new client and confirmed that he has a solo Superman movie on his plate.

“Henry has a big appetite,” Garcia said. “We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”

Now we just need Warner Bros. to announce a date for the new Superman movie that they're definitely working on!

There are only 2 life action Batman films better than MoS. TDK + DKR, unless you want to count UC BvS. Begins + the Burton films are good too but they certainly aged and Superman deserves his time in the sun too. He was a leading reason why Batman was created too.

well, my dear friend, it depends on what do you mean by the term humanity. You mean kindness? Because you have to include the weakness as well, which is what makes Batman such an interesting character

Now we can begin to speculate who or what will be the main enemy. if Steppenwolf will be a main enemy in JL, what about Darkseid, Parasite, Brainiac or Bizzaro ( such those classic ), Black Adam or Shazam (
before he begin friendly ) may be interesting enemies. ( SFME ).

I have a felling the next villain might be Jax-Ur? Remember in the beginning of man of steel you see the Kryptonian moon destroyed, so that means Jax-Ur exist in the DCEU, but maybe not since he is too similar to zod?

I like the idea of mixing Superman and Shazam, either with Billy idolizing Superman and wanting to be like him, or thinking he could do a better job than Superman.
I think they missed their opportunity with Bizarro. He should have been Luthor's clone in BvS. If they retread on the cloned enemy territory the critics are going to have a field day.

That being said, I'd like to see Superman come into contact with pretenders -- Cyborg Superman, Eradicator, Steel, Superboy (and Shazam too. why not) -- People trying to take Superman's mantle in his absence. Throughout the movie Clark needs to investigate where these people came from, who they are, stop them from doing things 'wrong' in his name/while wearing his symbol, and which of them are out for power and glory and who among them are just trying to continue his legacy in earnest.

      Just a thought.

    8. ernest schoenmakers Avatar

Still Malone's role is never mentioned in the dialogues of BvS so hopefully Klyburn could be an undercover name of Kara Zor El aka Supergirl, i know it's wishful thinking but she's blonde and has her posture in BvS.

Superman as of right now is fucked. Clark Kent is dead, Lex Luthor is awful, there's no fortress of solitude, and Cavil's gloomy neck snapping Superman is the worse version of the character ever brought to screen. Good Luck WB How much worse can it get.

This right here is why dceu fans have little to no respect and are considered whinny insecure losers. It'ss because you're obsessed with Marvel. I didnt mention the competition once. But you did. Losers are obsessed with winners winners are obsessed with Winning. The DCEU is losing right now. It just is. It's making money but Twilight made money. That's why the DCEU is the Twilignt Saga of superhero movies. Even the box office returns are similar. It's not Transformees cause those movies make a billion by the way. It's Twilight and you sound like a TwiHard

A proto Fortress of Solitude was in MoS and Synder just adapted the Zod killing from SP II and 2 Post Crisis stories. He even improved on them all and that very Lex II + Clark´s death are from the DoS arc.

DC currently have 2 "open/unannounced" films: Oct 2018 & Nov 2019 - "In a year from now, or two years from now" would suggest 2018, but as they are already announcing cast members for Batflek, I don't see it being that one. Then there is the "Will they/won't they" on Suicide Squad 2. I'm thinking DC may be announcing another release date, sometime soon.

The hope rest with Wonder Woman. Justice League is DOA based on the fact that Snyder is still directing and a Pixar movie opens literally days after JL so that's toast (not to mention Thor 2 featuring Hulk opens a few weeks before then a few weeks later freaking Episode 8). It all falls on Wondy for 2017

My mistake you are correct. The big elephant in the room is the Pixar movie coming out 3 days later. BvS had no competition for 3 weeks and had zero legs. JL with Snyder same thing. DOA

            Kerk Lastnamelessreplying to razorstar90

Funny how both Thor and the Pixar movies will come from Disney. Well played, Disney. It will be so depressing/hysterical to see JL bomb.

Kinda like Ninja Turlets 2 -- it was much better than the first one. I even enjoyed watching it. Me, and the other two guys in the otherwise empty auditorium. But in spite it being better than the first one, the good will was already lost. It will be genuinely interesting to see how many people will deny JL a chance.

She's helping him build HIS brand and she seems to have jerked a knot in somebody's head at WB/DC to tell them they need to take their Superman property seriously and make use of this guy who IS Superman and who loves that character. This is very good news for a fan like me.

Proud of Cavill and the work he's done with Superman. He has put his nose to the grindstone and has been humble throughout delivering quality and definitive Superman performances. He definitely gets the character. All I want for this new Supes solo film is Brainiac. Dude stays dedicated and knows how to deliver and I highly appreciate that. Hope Promethan takes off for him in said time.
