on Jared Leto wants to play the Joker again and go head-to-head with Ben Affleck's Batman

Just playing The Joker once isn't enough for Jared Leto. In an exclusive interview with the Toronto Sun, Leto explained that Suicide Squad is just an introduction to the character, and that he hopes he gets to play him a couple of more times.

“I hope it’s an introduction (of the Joker) … and not the end!” Leto said. “Because I could easily just play the Joker a couple more times and then retire. Because it’s so fulfilling and so creative and it’s so imaginative. It’s really difficult to think about doing anything else!”

If you're expecting an epic Batman/Joker showdown in Suicide Squad... don't! As Batman News reported back in May, the two characters don't interact much together. Because of that, Leto really wants to see his Joker go head-to-head with Ben Affleck's Batman in the future.

“I think it would be incredible to see Batman and the Joker go head-to-head! This Batman and this Joker. I mean, I don’t know, that might be too much! But that would be fun,” Let explained.

Obviously the perfect movie for that to happen in would be Ben Affleck's upcoming solo Batman movie. With Affleck rumored to be working on the "ultimate Batman story", you have to have the Joker!

I love how Jared Leto goes through all this method acting to get us to see how damaged his Joker is.
Then David Ayer literally puts the word Damaged on his forehead
That may not have been how it went down but it's a funny image nonetheless XD

I hope the solo Bat-film is a loose adaptation of the Arkham Asylum graphic novel/game, with The Joker luring and locking Batman inside the asylum, and him having to fight his way through a gauntlet of his greatest foes, until he reaches the clown for a final battle.

Maybe we can get a Joker movie like a solo Harley Quinn film? That would be cool.

I am glad we dont have a Joker vs Batman battle in Suicide Squad as that would detract from the movie, which is supposed to be Suicide Squad, not Batman.

The movie Assault on Arkham is a brilliant template. Joker had a larger role in that movie and interacted plenty with characters like Harley and Deadshot but he had only very little interaction with Batman himself, I don´t think they even met in the movie. if Ayers movie can follow that concept that would be a really great thing. And from the reports it looks like Batman and Joker will only interact during that car chase in the flashback. I like it.

lets save the full on Batman vs Joker for the solo movie. True Joker has been the villain of many Batman stories and films but this is a new universe , a new Batman and if you do Batman then you have to to Batman vs Joker at some point. Might as well tackle that one first. Nothing in the Batverse will draw people to the cinema like those two characters.

Missed opportunity in SS, but definitely builds more anticipation for the Solo Batman film

It's a Suicide Squad movie not a Joker or Batman movie

I understand that, but I seriously doubt it would've compromised the film to have had a quick face-to-face confrontation between the two.

I'm NOT saying that the movie is ruined for lack-thereof, I'm simply saying: If it doesn't hurt the movie, then why not?

As far as I'm concerned, they dodged a bullet there. I'm sure there was a big temptation to have them fight again, but that should really be saved for the solo film.

Agreed. It would've been a guilty pleasure to have tasted that chemistry on SS, but Batman & Joker do deserve a bigger stage to go at it.

Did he just spoil SS's ending? Cause it sounds like something is going to happen to the Joker. For fucks sake.

That said, I've waited my whole life to see a proper big screen battle between the two of them

The Ultimate Batman story? Hmm. Remake The Killing Joke into live-action. Fix the ending. Incorporate a Jason Todd flashback, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Black Mask, The Penguin, and The Riddler into the story. Retcon Jena Malone's character as Babs Gordon (or just cast Emma Stone). And that'll do it!

Killing Joke with all those characters? Emm...... why? Isn't that a bit too much with all those villains in one movie?
I mean that sounds more like a Hush storyline than a Killing Joke.

    2. Bernard BammyWam Avatar

Well, no. Not really.. I don't think the killing joke is the ultimate Batman Story. It's definitely more of a joker the story than Batman. 2nd - There is no point in doing this story besides crippling a character that could have more movies for DC. Like, why should killing joker in a killing joke storyline that important, when batman doesn't care about killing a lot of people in BvS. I don't think this storyline works as much as it could have. A flashback of jason todd? how the hell are we suppose care about a character in flashback. If they ever try to do a story with joker, id rather them do it in a 3rd movie. Establish the batman family then eventually leading in the death of the family honestly. Don't get me wrong, I love the killing joke story line, I am very contented with the animated story, but trying to do the killing joke in a movie, that requires a lot of build up for a pay off men, and you are wasting characters men. Literally joker has to die in the end of that adaptation, not only you lose one of the best batman villain, you cripple a character with so much potential, like literally. You can say that you can always have another Batgirl, but Barbara gordon is the one and only for me :P

No, no and no. Don´t remake anything. whats so bad about doing original stories for a change ? If you want Killing Joke or Hush or whatever then read the comics. and no Malone as Barbara, I was so glad when she wasnt Babs in BvS.

Yes! I'm all in for an original story.
And if they really want to remake something, it should be "The Court of Owls" arc.

I'd like to see the movie be a split between Killing Joke and Under the Red Hood.

The movie would open with a re-dedicated Batman laying down some justice. He catches a mugger and after a few brutal hits the criminals puts his hands up and screams, "They said you gone soft! They said you don't kill no more!" Batman calmly says, "I don't." And gives him one more, powerful punch. Smash cut to the opening credits and a montage of Batman laying out his brutal justice, but taking steps to keep criminals alive.

A criminal names the new shot caller who calls himself Red Hood, which reminds Bruce of one of his first cases. On the way back to the Batcave we get a flashback to a younger Batman, making mistakes, malfunctioning gadgets, and CGI'd to be less bulky, where he hears about a string of robberies by the Red Hood Gang. He's on good terms with Gotham PD and Gordon, and makes reference to his moral code which he will never break.
The flashback cuts to Bruce in his lair, staring at the desecrated Robin suit. He trades some back and fourth with Alfred; a bit of exposition about the state of the world with the metahumans etc, before Bruce goes out disguised as Matches Malone to investigate the criminal underworld.

Turns out, Red Hood is killing crime bosses and pushers alike, all of which show up at the morgue with custom bullets with what appears to be Batman's logo, but upon further investigation, it looks more like Nightwing's.
Black Mask puts a hold on fighting the Bat, and gives a large bounty on Red Hood.
Batman puts on his suit and tracks Red Hood down and they fight. Batman notes the familiar style of his foe. A nonstop ferocity that he's only seen once. Then Red Hood, just before escaping, calls him Bruce.

During their game of cat and mouse, Hood routinely antagonizes Batman about how Nightwing abandoned him, but he did nothing; how he let Batgirl get crippled, and did nothing; and about how it wasn't until Bruce let Robin die a horrible death did Batman see Gotham for what it truly is. But even then, Batman STILL won't kill Joker. Red Hood reveals his plan to end crime in Gotham for good, by taking over the gangs or gaining their trust, then killing them all. He asks Batman to join with him, but doesn't take the refusal lightly.

Red Hood removes his helmet, revealing himself to be Jason Todd. We get another flashback to Jason Todd as Robin brutalizing a criminal like Batman in BvS, and Batman admonishes him for it. Robin says something like Bruce coming from privilege and only visits the criminal world to deliver justice and leaves. Jason says he grew up poor in Gotham and knows what needs to be done to stamp out crime. But he agrees to try taking it easy, then we get the scene where Batman finds Jason Todd's body, horribly beaten, shot, burned and stabbed. Batman hunting down Joker and beating him so bad most of his teeth are smashed and winds up in a body cast. Montage of a rise in beatings, death threats, and actual murders by Batman, maybe at GCPD where cops are trying to figure out what to do and Gordon who feels betrayed by the vigilante. We see a shot of Batman who is clearly torn between catching a criminal or just letting him die.

Flashback ends and Batman has an inspiring speech about justice, and what's right. Jason shrugs his words off and they fight. Black Mask who's been fighting for control of Gotham and Bludhaven surrounds the building where Bruce and Jason are fighting, and try to take them both out, forcing Batman and The Red Hood to work together.

They fall into a rhythm, and perform maneuvers that were practiced back when Jason was still Robin, where we see a cut of them fighting crime together from years back. Batman stops Jason from shooting Black Mask in the face, telling him he doesn't kill anymore and won't fight along side a murderer.

They eventually scare off the few remaining gunmen, but Read Hood disappears.

Movie ends saying he needs to inform his family to keep an eye out for Red Hood.

Or something. I just made this up on the fly.

Leto's Joker taking over Arkham Asylum with a bunch of baddies would be fantastic! My second alternative would be a Hush adaptation with Matt Damon leading the villains! Anyone of those would be amazing! Hell, BEN JUST DO THEM BOTH!!
