Jared Leto's Joker has a giant dragon tattoo on his back in 'Suicide Squad'

For the last few months various Joker toys from Suicide Squad have popped up online. Some of them had a giant dragon tattoo on his back, while others didn't. This lead some fans to wonder just what Jared Leto's Joker would look like in the movie. We knew he'd have a bunch of tattoos, but he's officially getting one more!

San Diego Comic-Con preview night is officially underway, and Batman News reviewer Andrew Asberry is on the scene! He swung by an event hosted by DC Collectibles and took pictures of their Jared Leto Joker figure from Suicide Squad, confirming that he will indeed have a giant dragon tattoo on his back. It's definitely inspired by "All Star Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder #8", which was written by Frank Miller with art by Jim Lee.

It's a different take. It is no way terrible. There have been plenty of terrible Batman stories, All Star isn't even close. The Green Lantern face off in a yellow room alone is great. Don't forget the "I'm the GD Batman" endlessly quoted. Also full of great Jim Lee art. It's not perfect but let's not got on this backlash train where we forget that Frank Miller is one of the most influential writers and artists in the medium.

      To be honest, I think, and I know how much hate I would probably get when I say this, it is probably the most realistic take on Batman in a comic book. Consider all that he's been through, and all that he's capable of, all that he's lost, put it into a real person's mind, and the would turn out like him. Personally, haven't read it, pretty excited to read it.

    Nah I give Miller his due backwards and forwards. Miller is on again off again good. His tone never changes and doesn't always fit. Sin City, good. DK2, bad. YEAR ONE, good. TDKR, overrated but not bad. DAREDEVIL, good. All-Star, Divisive.

Sorry, but you lost me when you mentioned Linkara. Dude's a regressive SJW cucklord, and has horrible taste in pretty much everything. He comes from a wave of unoriginal content "creators" who tried desperately to copy the shtick of James Rofle, and failed miserably. The IrateGamer of comicbook "reviews", if you will.

Joker started as a common thug tho....people act like these tattoos are supposed to be brand new. These characters have a history which is why I appreciate the tattoos

    Depends which origin story, or non-origin story you like. If you go with Killing Joke, common criminal would be more accurate.

      The Killing Joke in itself says that that's one of many ways he remembers his past. It's not literal, but hypothetical - it's like a daydream. That's part of why TKJ is so fascinating and complex as a Joker story.
      Us choosing to 'like' that hypothetical origin doesn't make it canon, and making it canon ruins the mystique that makes the character so wild and intriguing. It dumbs him down, and misses the whole point of TKJ entirely.
      I'd rather not do that to the Joker when there's so much potential for great writing with Leto and the Batfleck-verse. But if Ayer wants to, that's on him. Not a new thing. It'll just be one more time the character wasn't as well done as other iterations.

    Leto appears to be a cartel member and Ledger´s Joker is hard to pin-point. He appeared to become a gangster later in life.

      When we say 'start that way', I figure we are referring to his creation
      as a character. I would more call that a criminal mastermind than a
      common thug.
      As for your examples, those are fair and I'm aware of them, but they're also generally disregarded as elseworld and just as generally not preferred. I certainly am of the opinion that these aren't optimal origins or handlings of his past, even if they are okay stories in their own continuities.

  It was clearly a comminatory and i look forward to the conclusion (it´s confirmed and Miller is refocused on DC due to the attention he is getting). Part of ASB&R, as the last issue, or when Bruce nearly killed Alfred + Vicki, were a mess though. 7/10

All Star Batman & Robin might not have been the best run, but Joker was really violent and dark. If they're just saying this Joker has a history like the one in All Star, then I'm all for it.
