It seems that people who liked the original cut, are actually the ones saying "The Ultimate Cut doesn't improve things that much".
And it's actually people who hated the OC who are the ones claiming it's a significant improvement.

I absolutely hated the original cut, and I liked the Ultimate Cut. Didn't love it, but definitely liked it. And many other fans seem to agree from my experience.

Honestly, the Ultimate Cut makes the first two acts a lot better. Regardless, both cuts the third act still exists, which is the biggest problem of the movie. It still sucks

I'm not every other critic. I've never been one to follow the trend. I set precedents. Be original.

I guess it depends on where you divide the second and third acts. Personally, and I was just thinking about this the other day, I think the second act ends with the Martha scene and Batman throwing away the spear; the third act is the rescue, Doomsday and the aftermath. YMMV. I have no idea where the first and second acts might split, though.

I agree with you. I like SNYDEr but sometimes, I think that his movies are not well balanced. There is too much action at the end of movies like "Man of Steel" and "BvS". I enjoyed the two first acts and the last one was like a hair in the soup (french dictum).

He is not alone. I agree with him. I enjoyed the two first acts. Not very much the last one.

The Ultimate Cut does improve the film in the least by clearing up the first 1/3 of the movie. What I don't get is who the hell decided to remove parts of the movie actually explain the plot; but keep in stuff that, while cool, don't add a thing to the story. "Nightmare Batman" and "future flash" could have have easily been left for the Ultimate Cut and a bit more than was actually cut could have been left in.

I've gone back and forth on the knightmare scene and ultimately, I think it's necessary for two big reasons besides being a Justice League setup:

      1. Bruce's dream is not really a dream, according to the creators what Bruce actually experienced is the DCEU's version of a time boom (see flash point). Barry raced back in time to warn Bruce and as a side effect, Bruce saw the memories of his future self.

      2. It adds to Bruce's motivation to fight Superman. Bruce literally experienced his death at the hands of Superman in the knightmare scene. After the knightmare scene iirc is when Bruce gives his 1% speech to Alfred and ultimately goes after the kryptonite smugglers.

Neither of those reasons justify removing elements from the movie that actually explain wtf is going on. Also Batman has no way of knowing what the scenes mean. There's nothing to tell him they're not just nightmares fueled by his fear of Superman. And you got to hope he's not making a judgement calls based on a "dream".

Finally there was never a dirty bomb (the bs.s story he told Alfred) seems he know about what was found and how it related to Superman. he didn't need the "dremas" to motivate him.

The dream is a confirmation of his own anger and rage toward Superman. He was already gearing up to go against him due to past events, but with this Knightmare scene he is reaffirmed in his belief that Superman is a ticking time bomb. It's a cool way of increasing Bruce's motive while simultaneously building up the possible apocalyptic future that the JL could be apart of. I do agree with you on the fact that those scenes that were cut out was not a positive move by WB and were very essential scenes. That's why I adore this UE cut because its amazing with its continuous flow and extra Superman back story.

I really liked the Theatrical Cut, despite its issues. I LOVED the Ultimate Cut. Truly an epic film.

Question for Andy and Sean for the next podcast: since Allan Heinberg is now listed as the writer (along with Zack Snyder and Geoff Johns) on the Wonder Woman movie, do you know anything about his run on the Wonder Woman comic? Do you know how she was depicted during that time, as the warrior side of her personality dominates more or less at various times? (Example of what I mean: I'm thinking of the JLU cartoon Wonder Woman who talked about being a warrior who was uncomfortable with diplomacy, contrasted with the George Perez or Bill Messner-Loebs Wonder Woman who was a warrior when she needed to be but was also more comfortable with the "love and compassion" aspects of her personality. Where was Heinberg's WW in relation to those?)
