'Suicide Squad' runtime to clock in at just over 2 hours

Last week popular movie ticket website Fandango said that Suicide Squad was 100 minutes long. That caught a lot of people off guard, because that would be a really short superhero movie! Director David Ayer added fuel to the fire by retweeting that news, before coming out and saying it wasn't true.

So what is the official Suicide Squad runtime? According to trusted sources over at Collider, Suicide Squad is 130 minutes long -- or 2 hours and 10 minutes. That means we're looking at about two solid hours of action without the credits.

While this makes Suicide Squad the shortest movie in the DC Extended Universe so far, it's not short at all as far as movies go. Anything over two hours is what fans have come to expect from these big superhero movies, and with all of the characters in Suicide Squad, they'll make the most of that time.

      But yea, I am happy to hear the movie won't be a slog. I loved BvS but damn that movie is long.
      I hope movies get back to being around 2 hrs, just a preference.

    I think people should care that a character that has belonged to superman canon for dozens of years is just killed off without so much as a "how do you do"...

      Well, he was never a huge focus, but he was in every Christopher Reeve Superman movie, and in the Lois & Clark tv show, and he was a bigger deal there. Not saying everyone knows him, but by that logic any unknown supporting character is now unimportant and just canon fodder. He should have been treated with much bigger respect, and the fact that his death did nothing to anyone, no one was shocked or gave any attention to him afterwards. I think that was disrespectful.

I hope that Ayer knows what he is doing, as his similarly long ensemble Fury is WAY too padded. The trailers make SS out to be very straightforward but Ayer also said that a big secret hasn´t leaked so we will see.
I would be surprised though if the film didn´t work out. The writer / director ain´t perfect but he is perfect for the source material.

  I don't think so, Suicide squad premiere is schedueld two weeks after the Comic con, that's too close for a Final trailer and the movie release. I believe We'll get a lot of info but no trailer.

  they had 3 trailers for SS, they should release a trailer for Wonder Woman and pic of JL, these trailers for SS were more than enough, i don't know how can they show more stuff without spoiling movie.

Am I the only person not bothered by long run times?? Sure, if the movie sucks, no thanks! People are always complaining about movies pushing three hours. One of the classics, Gone With The Wind, was close to four. Give me a four hour Christopher Nolan movie any day. Michael Bay on the other hand...PASS.

  It depends on the film. 2-ish hours of actual content is good for an ensemble but getting a straightforward shoot-em up would be nice too. The Raid 2 is arguably better than the original but the extra 50min. hurt the film, so kind of not. SS may turn out to NOT be a "pure" action film, who knows.
  The longest film i ever saw is Shoah (a doc) @ 9 hours. A true sitting!

    I'm in general agreement. I became bored intermittently with the first Raid, but not once during Raid 2.

      I thought the opposite with the raid 2. There was something so captivating about the confined area that the swat team were in and the facts that the odds were against them. It just made it more intense and special for me.

        I preferred the second one because I felt that it focused less on the action and more on the character. Action can become repetitive and boring if it seems it's put in there just for the sake of being in there, and that's what it felt like Raid. To me at least.
        There were instances in the second one where I felt the second one drag in the action, mainly the prison yard scene. But for the most part the action scenes in the second one furthered the story. Again, my opinion. I also liked the shades of The Godfather that were all over Raid 2, especially the climax.
        I would like to point out that I didn't dislike the first one. I loved the first one. But because I believe Raid 2 focused more on character and story more than the fist one did I love Raid 2 more. And I still haven't seen a fight scene that's rivaled the kitchen fight scene in Raid 2.

        Could it be good? Sure. But I have a feeling it's either going to be watered down or so exaggerated that it'll end up looking silly.

        I still think someone ripped someone off as pertains to the Raid and Dredd. As I was watching the first Raid I kept feeling as if I'd seen it before. Then I realized Dredd had basically the same plot.

    The films is nearly 1 hour longer than Infernal Affairs while having the same story, so R3 should go back to the wall to wall action.
    Nothing against an action film with a narrative, as Die Hard, but putting a Gordian Knot narrative in what is arguable a life action video game can only backfire. None of it even mattered by act 3. Eh, 8,5/10. A hard-R Taskmaster or Deathstroke by Evans, that would be the dream.

  Agreed. If the movie is good, the length doesn't matter. Hell, Gettysburg is 4 hours, and I don't know how many times I've watched that.

  Yeah, but people are complaining about bad long movies. Not good long movies. But a 4 hour is rarely a good decision. And definitely not for a theatrical release.
