'Gotham' is recasting Poison Ivy for Season 3

on 'Gotham' is recasting Poison Ivy for Season 3

TVLine reports that when Gotham comes back this fall, Ivy Pepper will be transformed into Poison Ivy. Clare Foley, who has played Pepper in Gotham, will be recast for the iconic villain role.

No word on why Foley is being replaced, but casting is currently underway for an actress in her late teens to play Poison Ivy. She'll become a series regular on Season 3, so expect to see a lot more of her.

In addition to Poison Ivy, Vicki Vale and Mad Hatter will also be featured in the third season of Gotham.

    I'm worried. I'll be surprised if they pull the 3 season off. They don't have the budget to properly do monsters. Either we'll see very little of them, or they'll look very lame.

      They did some pretty good things on Flash this year. Shouldn't this show have a better budget than a CW show?

      Well Jada Pinkett Smith won an award on the show, just don´t ask me how. Gotham is fine, undeniably a "real" Batman show and always entertaining despite the wall to wall insanity. I find it further fascinating that the show barely features character restrictions from WB, hello Arrow. 7,5/10.

          It morphed in to Smallville because Bats was "too big" for tv. Well shit and then came Birds of Prey...

      Agree with you! I love the show, but I wish that the premise of the show was GCPD dealing with mobsters and crime. Not replacing Batman with Jim Gordon as they have. In fact the ending of season 3 felt more like The X Files than Gotham.

      They can get around it by having Gordon fail in the end. Have Gotham overrun by the monsters and GCPD failing to protect it.

      It would have been amazing to have a GCPD type show.. Have Batman exist in the world, but have him be a rumor/ghostlike figure that occasionally interferes. The show wouldn't even have to show him, just have the repercussions of his actions on the team.

        That's how Gotham Central is, Batman appears once or twice and theres only a few major villain appearances (Joker/Mr Freeze etc) so we spend our time with the cops in the worlds most crime ridden city - that's how the show should have been

      They tried to do a proper GCPD and nobody wanted to watch another crime show that a few times an episode you could nudge your girlfriend and be like, "That's going to be (insert name)". I liked season one but it seems like most people didn't and so they changed things up.

    Given that she's getting SORAS'd, I'm guessing that they want Ivy to blossom into more of a sexpot than Miss Foley (or her parents) is ready for. This will just bring her apparent age up closer to Selina and David (who has grown up a LOT since the pilot). If they're going to do that (and turn her, Bruce and Selina into a triangle of sorts), hopefully the new actress will work well with the brilliant chemistry David and Camren have developed.

    Smart move. The Foley girl is REALLY young, and was really really young when they cast her a couple of years ago. They never could give the character anything to do.

    The bigger question is why she needed to be recasting if the multi-episode teen female Firefly was deemed "worthy". The previous girl could have "risen" to that "standard". What are they doing to do with young Hush and Den. Both showed up and did nothing...
    Fun fact: The modern interpretation of Ivy was created in the Suicide Squad in the early 90s. What a run!

    As much as I hate recasting in general, this doesn't really bother me. I just wasn't getting a "Poison Ivy" vibe from the original actress.

    I had to look up this "Pepper" name. Can someone explain the name "Ivy Pepper" for me? WTF.

      Easy -- they believed the audience was comprised of idiots and casuals, so they had to name her Ivy outright to make sure the audience would get it. In the same line, Selina always introduces herself as Cat, and Nigma uses the word "riddle" all the time.

    Can anyone tell me if Season 2 is any better than season 1 or if this show is worth watching at all now? I forced myself to watch every episode hoping it would click but it didn't.

      I have never tried harder (and failed) to finish a season like I did for the first season.

        Same here, I found season 1 almost painful to get through and haven't bothered with season 2 at all yet, if its better I might try and watch it again

          I could only watch 2min of the first episode of season 2 before I stopped haha...but I've been hearing good things about season 2 from friends.

      I found season 2 to be much better…if you take it for what is just its own take on the batman mythos. What I liked that they did this season…which I think other superhero shows should consider; is breaking the season up in two different stories, but have connecting elements. That way, they can weave a tighter condensed story, with out as much, if any, filler episodes. With the introduction of so many of Batman's rouge gallery, it looks like the producers/writers are going to eventually make batman, a response, to the rise of the freaks. Instead of the other way around as most comic fans know it.

      I gave up on S2 after 3 episodes. Just couldn't take it anymore. Too much work and too many good (and superior) TV shows to be wasting time with Gotham. But, if you have the time and manage to turn off your brain for a bit, yeah, go for it.

          Fargo, Shameless, Penny Dreadful, Black Sails, Game Of Thrones, Orphan Black, Hannibal (sadly cancelled)...these are all superior in writing, directing and acting.

            Oh! Thanks for taking the time to list those shows.. which of these are available without subscribing to a pay channel? Fargo, Shameless, Penny Dreadful, Black Sails, Game Of Thrones, Orphan Black. I didn't see the Sopranos or Malcom In The Middle until years after they were done.. that were 2 of my favorite shows.

      It's better than Season 1, it has a more coherent story and they do a better job of giving a backstory to the source of the madness that comes from Arkham (I don't want to give anything away).

    After this past season, I'm starting to think that Season 5 will be their goal to have it as their last and final season. I was thinking it could go six, but Season 2 left me doubts.

          I always felt the "villains rise in response to Batman's existence" was a Nolan invention, and that there's no real reason for that to be the case.

            The villains in response to Batman has been that way in the comics for a few years now- the general timeline is that Batman shows up & takes down the mob (Falcone etc) but this leaves a power vacum which gets filled by the super-villains.

            Actually its been an ongoing philosophical debate as to whether batman created the villains or if the super villains created a greater need for more extreme measures such as batmans existence. Its pretty great to think about.

    Gotham is my favorite show. However, I wonder when they will add "The Joker", and re-casting Bruce Wayne is inevitable.

      Ivy wasn't that big of a character so it isn't a big deal but you really think most fans would be ok with a recasting of Bruce Wayne?

    I can't understand Gotham timeline... They ara laying all the villains with Bruce still years away of becoming Batman... They should keep with crime bosses, while showin' the corruption of the city. It should be more half procedural half political. This totally bonkers, having all these supervillains doesn't make sense. The antagonists should remain the same of the 1st season, hinting here and there the future villains. Just that... Waisting Mackenzie's Jim Gordon...

      It's suppose to be about bringing the city to its knees to the point where the GCPD is completely out of its element where something as ridiculous as a man dressed as a giant bat is needed to combat the other monsters. I believe season 3 will be planting the seeds of those monsters in the city.

      I understand what you are saying but like you said they did all that in season one and people didn't like it nearly as much as this past season. It doesn't fit the classic idea of Batman showing up and then the villains, but it's still interesting to watch.

    I don't think Fish got those pheromone powers for nothing in S2. And now that she's escaped in Gotham, I'm thinking she and an older Ivy will have a little arc together which will give Ivy her control over people in a new set of powers for herself.
