Warner Bros. officially announced the details for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition Blu-ray today. Collider premiered the trailer, which features lots of new footage from the 3 hour extended cut. As you know, it's been rated R for violence and will run 182 minutes long... over 30 minutes more than the theatrical version.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will be available on Digital HD on June 28th. It hits Blu-ray on July 19th. It'll be available in 4K and 3D as well. You can pre-order it on Amazon now. Check out the new trailer above and the full press release below for more details.

Burbank, CA, June 2, 2016 – Prepare for war when “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” arrives onto Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD. The extended cut will be available on all Blu-ray formats and Digital HD.

In “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition” features an extended cut of the film which includes 30 more minutes of story and action not seen in theaters.  The extended cut is rated R.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be available on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack for $44.95, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack for $44.95, Blu-ray Combo Pack for $35.99 and 2-disc DVD Special Edition for $28.98. The Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the Ultimate Edition in 4K with HDR, a Blu-ray disc with the theatrical version and special features in HD, and Digital HD versions of both the Ultimate Edition and theatrical version. The Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack features the theatrical version of the film in 3D hi-definition and hi-definition, as well as the Ultimate Edition in hi-definition; the Blu-ray Combo Pack features the Ultimate Edition and theatrical version of the film in hi-definition on Blu-ray; and the DVD features the theatrical version in standard definition. The Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack include digital versions of both the Ultimate Edition and theatrical version movies in Digital HD with UltraViolet*. Fans can also own “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition” via purchase from digital retailers.

The Blu-ray discs of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition” will feature a Dolby Atmos® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment that aren’t Dolby Atmos compatible.

            ...the drop means people didn't go watch it, which is disappointing, as opposed to people not liking it. 7/10 is pretty good . The drop has nothing to do with people that actually watch it. If you didn't like it, is ok, don't feel bad.

          Of course it has a 7/10 on IMDB, what else did you expect: a bunch of DC fanboys gave it a 10 even before having seen it just to tone down the hate the movie was getting by the critics. It has a 61% on RT and that's what really counts when you try to see if most fans liked it or dislikes it. I didn't hate it tho, just thought it was mediocre to okay.

            it's more like 66%, which is pretty close to a 7/10... which is no bad, just look at all the other franchises... In anycase, more than half of the people that saw it gave it a good mark, so the point I made still remains true. The majority said otherwise from what van dude said. At the end people shoudln't care about any of these site and just go watch movies (but that's a different conversation).

      Weird way to promote the Ultimate Edition. A lot of people who didn't like the movie were hoping the extended cut would "fill in the gaps" and make it more enjoyable.

        From the snippets we've heard from Snyder and co. they drove the edit as hard as they could to get it to 2 hrs 30 mins. It seems like they carved it down simply because they weren't comfortable putting out a 3 hour film, which is a shame. BvS had some great moments, but the theatrical cut wasn't nearly as coherent as it needed to be. Hopefully the 3hr cut makes the plot seem more cohesive. I think it was dumb to cut Clark sleuthing around Gotham looking for info about the Batman, but at least they're restoring it here.

          The time of the movie was cut due to corporate greed at WB, thinking they could push more people through the theaters during a day with a more standard run time. It backfired. I'm sure Snyder fought the change, but the producers almost always win. I'm less concerned with all the filled gaps..those are a given. I'm much more concerned with how the 3 hour version has been edited.

          Not really. There's characters appearing that weren't in the movie, i.e., basically useless for the plot, and it probably extends some of the useless subplots and probably introduces new ones, too. There's no saving this movie with more footage. If anything, cutting out some bullshit would help. And better writing.

      Of course the haters will hate it, because most of them have no damn idea how to judge it in the first place, or they just want to jump on the bandwagon. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this, but after the anticipation and the negative response, my enjoyment of forums like this tanked. We'll get what we get.

            Vicky is blond in Batman 89 and the new games, which are the most knows versions of her, but actors aren´t cast based on hair color. Snyder´s Aqua-man even went from black, to dark blond, but his hair color is impossible to guess based on his cameo alone.

            I still say that she is Barbara. Her sitting angle is weird, the nerdy looks fit (but only her younger version tend to have shorter hair) and her battle capabilities in the Knightmare can be explained in the same way the Injustice comic did. We will see.

            I buy that about Vicky Vale but a blonde Babs i don't buy cause she's always been a redhead in every comic book. The stance she's having in her dialogue with Lois could mean that she's confined to a wheelchair (Oracle?) but the Felicity version of it idk. More important is that Snyder who kept her role a secret so long would do her justice to make her an established character of the DCEU.

            Yvonne Craig´s Batgirl (co-created with the comic version) changed her hair color when she put on the costume, but the comic take has always been a either a redhead or a brunet. Whatever.
            The non-New52 Felicity is an utterly different character btw. A better one too...

            Jane could be an-undercover agent of Bruce who tries to investigate the Nairobi incident, but he didn´t put 2 and 2 together by the end, so who knows. Gotham is also a sister city (just as in the 50s or so comics), so don´t just assume a Metropolis location.

            Felicity is not a better Oracle than Babs but i'm sure that Babs is ruled out and there still is Stephanie Brown's Batgirl who was blonde in the comics, this would do justice to her character which is kept a secret so long. Jane who?

            I found it outrageous cause everyone already was convinced including me that her hair would be red, she showed up blonde on set but a week later she dyed her hair ginger red like from a comic book. People are saying that this is a wig she's wearing but after a closer look one can see it's not. So how is this silly to you? I'm just trying to find out about her role which is a big deal to me.

            The problem is that fans overthink every detail and start making assumptions, the fact is at this point we know nothing about Jena´s role, the fact that she dyed her hair was at one point a lead towards her being Barbara but she could simply have dyed her hair at her own will. The thing is she could be Barbara Gordon even if they decided to turn her into a brunette, in the end of the day it´s all creative liberties. Despite of what color her hair turns out to be let´s hope she really is playing a major character relevant to the DCEU.

      He has retractable lenses in his mask according to a tie-in tech-manual book. I guess it's mostly to scare others. Also, everyone noticed the bats escaping from the chimney during the first Batman scene, right? What if they were part of his scaring tactics? He just stands there in front of the person he's investigating and the bats keep swirling around him while his eyes glow like a demon? That would scare the shit out of everyone!

        His Bat "controlling" powers are form Year One and we all remember that scene from Begins. The build in x-ray specs are a 90s comic invention. I vague remember them from my childhood (Catwoman should have them too). Rockstead certainly wasn´t the inventor of them.

          In Year One (also adapted into Batman Begins) the bats-signal beckons colonies of bats to ambush, confuse, and blind the cops, or any large groups for that matter. I'm talking about using them as an interrogative technique.
          I didn't say anything about X-rays (a different version of it with Sonar was seen in the Dark Knight) just glowing demon-eyes as a scare-tactic. Batman wouldn't need X-rays to get information from a human trafficker.
          Considering how all the bad guys start cowering even hearing about the urban legend (and even the slaves behind the cage), I thought this Batman might have kicked the creepiness up a notch.

            He could have shut of the light (the guards are on high alert), so he would need more than sonar, and the lenses are multi purpose. Don´t ask me how human eyes are supposed to withstand such use though.

    I enjoyed the theatrical cut; I saw it twice in theatres and did my fair share of respectfully defending it with some friends. But I gotta say that reading DC Universe Rebirth #1 gave me pause and put into focus well why BvS gets criticized for its dark tone. I'm definitely getting this and will watch the extended cut. But now I'm less certain I'll embrace it like I did originally due to how good a story Rebirth is. Like all the different takes of Batman on film and TV, I'm hopefully I'll still enjoy BvS as its own thing and not have it try to fit my take on the DC world. Otherwise, I'd've just stuck to Adam West, my first Batman, and be done with it.

        First, the tone. The tone of the book was hopeful and really did remind me of how I used to feel reading DC Comics 20-30-40 years ago. Second, the story was just kinda effortless and made so much sense. Over the past five years of the New 52 read different issues/characters, there were just some details that kinda gnawed at you. For example, with us Batman fans, it was the math in getting to fit Grayson, Todd, Drake, and Damian (and Bruce bedding Talia in that time line) to all happen inside of five or six years. Rebirth was just a clean, uncluttered story. And finally, Johns was in-your-face verbalizing through West's monologues how and what we old school DC fans were feeling and thinking was so refreshing to read in a DC book! Kinda validated my thinking, made it feel okay to have these questions even, not that I needed that. But these were the main reasons why I enjoyed the book.

          I feel u on that dude. The new52 kinda turned me off of DC comics, outside of scott snyders stuff, and tebirth does show that since of hope to getting back to the ways things were pre 2011. I grew up with the post crisis era of dc and thats what i look to as the diamond age of comics. I hope thats where Johns is going with it and i have faith that that is where the dceu is inevitably headed dude after bvs.

      i just kinda want more in depth why everyone acts like he does. Why is lex like that, what drived batman so mad, what happened with zod and how he became doomsday. Just more motivations thats all i ask for

    Damn that trailer is EPIC! I'll be buying this day one I really enjoyed the theatrical version and 30 more minutes of that sounds wonderful. There's already so much to enjoy and chew on I've been listening to Justice League Universe podcast for awesome breakdowns I encourage any fan to check it out.

    I said it before, and i think we can all agree. If this ultimate cut fills in the gaps that the theatrical had(The ENTIRE African conflict, Batman ACTUALLY BREAKING INTO LexCorp, and Oracle?) then this will be the definitive CBM that it was meant to be for the DCU. Clark actually investigating the Batman, i dont understand why in the hell they didnt think the fans seeing that as part oif the build up was not important? But dammit this is day one digital download and bluray purchase for me. they will be hitting that 1Billion mark after all i think!

      I thought it was great and loved it to begin with, but i did see the gaps and flaws. this could actually make a hell of a difference for those who didnt enjoy aspects because of editing etc. I am very hyped for this

      I just hope they improve some of the missing elements. Deep down there, there is a good movie and i hope for gods sake the ultimate cut is that version.

      They actually did WAY more money due to the endless toys and whatnot (Forbes broke it down roughly) but a theatrical re-release, with JL and so on, should go over 900 mil. and knock off Spider-man 3 in the process.
      Dark Knight´s billion was also due to re-release and Star Wars, Titanic and Avatar are infamous for such. The BvS under performance reports are a mathematical lie, but i am not saying that the film over-performed either. Only Deadpool did this in 2016 and ALL other superhero films came in lower than previous series entries. Even this year´s No.1 film Civil War. The real "victim" is the glorious X-men Apocalypse...

    One of my biggest problems with BvS was Zack's constant attempts to criticize and deconstruct Superman that we hardly got to see Superman. Seeing Clark Kent spending more time investigating would help. I think even if you didn't like the theatrical cut you should ay least give it a rent.

      It's easy to assume that this take is deconstructive and that's what it looks like on the surface but really it's the opposite. All the characters start out deconstructed and they're built bottom-up. It's a Reconstructive take.

        I guess it's hard for me to tell since Zack had Superman supporter Jimmy Olsen get shot in the head because Zack couldn't find a place and wanted him dead to show how cynical his world is. That and him defeating Doomsday felt like a half assed way to win people over since people still gave Supes shit for the Senate bombing even after he was proven innocent and Zack said that people would question him when Supes just saves a cat out of a tree. So no I don't think defeating another Kryptonian monster would change many people's minds.

          Well, it isn't just any Kryptonian monster. It was created by Lex, a human whose screw's loose, and left to rampage Metropolis and beyond.
          This is different from MoS where the invaders only came to Earth 'because' of him ("You lead us here, Kal."-Zod). The way people felt about the events of MoS are still strongly carried into the present-time of BvS. They blame him for the destruction of Metropolis because he was the 'reason'.
          Lex's arrest makes it clear that it's him who unleashed the deformity and that Superman sacrificed his life--for the mistake made by a human (Lex). Now people care because they erred and Supes had to pay the price.
          In MoS, Superman felt 'responsible' so he had to take care of the Kryptonians. And everything else he does later on is just out of compulsion after having saved the world once. He hasn't really embraced his role as a superhero yet. Hence the already deconstructed state and every act being a political act on this world.
          But in BvS it's different. I don't think it was half-assed because it shows this Superman truly embracing his role, right before he kills Doomsday. He didn't do that in MoS, that was just something he got pulled into. And this reconstructs the character.
          That's how I feel anyway.

      The Africa scene was promised to be greatly extended, and the film could use a bit more clarity and action. This cut will also balance out the scales with way more Cavill and reporting!
      The full films appears to address every of my few grievances, as the Nolan-esque script and direction were nearly perfect. The only problem were clearly missing puzzle pieces and here they are.

      The Kryptonite gloves (they are very prominent in the well done BvS toy-line) are from DKSA and not DKR. 2 drastically different stories, in terms of quality, for the price of one!

    to be fair you have to see it from his perspective. He filmed all of it, he knows the motivations but we dont. Maybe he hasnt even seen the theatrical version
