Gal Gadot is getting another Wonder Woman Barbie doll, and this one's a Comic-Con exclusive

Earlier this year Gal Gadot, and even Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill got Barbie dolls based on their Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice characters. Wonder Woman must have been a big hit, because Mattel announced today (on USA Today) that they're releasing a Comic-Con exclusive doll in San Diego this July.

The exclusive collectible will be available at San Diego Comic-Con for $80, and comes complete with Wonder Woman's cape, lasso, sword, and shield.

Comic-Con runs from July 20th through July 24th this year, and should be packed with lots of goodies from Warner Bros. and DC. I'm betting it's when the first trailer from Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman movie will be released as well. Stay tuned to Batman News for all that coverage!

The cloak was shown in the costume design leaks (which were drawings), but I didn't see any actual sign of it until the WW clips in January. My assumption is that they had Wilkinson design the whole overall look (and he'll probably get a credit for such in WW even though he's not that film's main costume designer), but since there was no need for her to wear the cloak in BvS (since her only scene in costume is the battle) they didn't actually make one until WW.

This is a superhero film with a Female lead, a (mostly) Female centric story/mythology, with a Female Director - all the while I'm a MALE filmgoer who is TOTALLY looking forward to this movie.

I am NOT remotely interested nor thrilled about the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Tell me Sony, how am I a misogynist?

Same here... Im actually really pissed about ghostbusters. Not bc theyre women but bc to me that franchise is BELOVED!!! When i was little i WAS a ghostbuster!!! In fact i was the worlds first ghostbusting batman. Actually prilly not the first but i was and was damn proud of it... And its not even Ramis Akroyd & Moranis writing! Or any of them involved w making it... May Harold Ramis RIP... THATS my biggest gripe... And it looks stupid as hell and childish... Like the ghost designs look like theyre for kids. Anyhoo... Sooo looking forward to WW and obviously all DC films... But i bet and hope WW is gonna be amazing... As well as SS.

  Well, they had plenty of opportunities and stories to tell to make a new one and some people involved weren't interested. Someone else was, and decided to make it. I'm not saying it'll be good, that's still to be judged, but Feig has yet to make a bad or even mediocre movie. All his movies yet have been funny and delightful.

    Eeehhh... Depends on what u like... The shtick wore off pretty quick for me... Bridesmaids was ok. Pretty funny... Didnt really care after that and in my opinion this film looks like shit... And actually they wrote a third ghostbusters but it got turned into a drcent but average video game when it could have been so much more... And so much more than this...

That´s what i like about WB. They always did toys for their female characters and SS will grow that slate by 3-4 more. Well done DC´s merchandising department! Other companies really need to follow this example, if they want to grow another generation of fans from the ground up. The very first Batman i saw was a figure for Batman Forever (what a turd though).

relax about the skirt. It´s a barbie doll for children so of course they give her a skirt which is a bit more appropriate for that target demographic.

Let´s face it the skirt of Gadot´s costume was ridiculously short (I love the costume but even I noticed that right away). Like an inch away from showing what´s underneath. There are miniskirts longer then that. It was definitely much shorter then the skirt she currently has in the Justice League and the upcoming Rebirth comics.

  One of their sources tested Suicide Squad game developped by WB Montreal. This a TPS and a sequel of Arkham Origins. The source played with others testers in co-op.

    I really hope this is true... From what u said i dont speak french either... But if it was far enough along for testing we would have heard SOMETHING about it before now... Now there were rumors of an ss game that was possibly scrapped but i cannot substantiate them. But nonetheless i do hope its true or that theyre working on SOMETHING DC related and preferably containing Batman. Batmans mah fave.

  Yeah basically. E3 is in a couple of weeks and apparently they've had testers working on the game for months. Will incorporate some of the mechanics from Mortal Kombat X. There was a roster line up leak online but no real confirmation.
  Other games being rumored are an Arkham style Suicide Squad game that was hinted at in Arkham Origins, and a Superman game from WB Games Montreal.

AAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!

I cannot express how much it distresses me completely that Wonder Woman's general "look" has incorporated this shield and sword now. I HATE THAT. With a passionate passion.

And though there are a multitude of reasons for this which have to do with the overall violent nature of the sword, and the not un-obvious issues of it's particularly phallic nature symbolically --(That whole "violent nature of men" thing being pretty much the antithesis of everything the character originally was supposed to represent. Fighting against THAT, using better tools, was actually kind of her whole shtick as an Amazon and the fundamental reason for her existence as character in the first place.)-- the thing that ultimately bugs me the most is the damn shield because it is just. So. STUPID.

WTF does Diana want with a shield? The bracelets are far more powerful, and far less cumbersome, so if there is any person on this planet that has no use for a shield it is Wonder Woman.

Though she did occasionally use such weapons for some specific situations, I am almost positive that the Wonder Woman that I grew up wanting to be should not ever be automatically associated with the shield and sword as "her" tools, it really kills me that she is now so often portrayed with those that they are clearly becoming even more iconic in association with her than the very unique and much more powerful one she already had at her disposal which were not only what defined her as a character but also were a part of her overall story and identity. They complimented her essence as the compassionate and loving solution to problems instead of the "biggest badass" one who had the most skill at cracking skulls as their primary road to triumph.

We NEED that old vision of Diana back today. Seeing her always with the stabby, pointy steel and the snarly battle face is breaking my heart and crushing my spirit in so many ways, Can't we leave that whole thing to Xena and give me back my Diana? I don't like what she has become. This is not the same inspiration that led to some 10 decades worth of pictures of me dressing up as her ever since I was four years old. They trace the evolution of my many creative ways I used to make pretty convincing use of whatever was in the house to get the very details as correct as possible all the way to when I could afford to spend $550 bucks on the most authentic costume I had ever seen for purchase, which at that time was also the most I had ever spent on anything that didn't have moving parts or I couldn't make myself.

And the ones I am making myself now are even better and might end up costing more by the time I am done. I am doing a replica of Carter's TV costume, complete with cape, and my own homage to the DCAU WW, as she appears in Super/Bat Apocalypse, which had one of the best WW battle scenes I've ever enjoyed, and was one of my favorite aesthetics of her overall appearance, And in that film, she does use a sword and shield, but they are not part of her branding as a character at all. I don't care how good the upcoming film is, even if she looks really cool- I will not be re-creating any WW costume that includes a shield and sword... ever. So it looks like these better be good, since they are likely going to be my last...

I mean, come on, it's already bad enough that dressing as her for Halloween usually means being freezing cold, but it's seriously a PITA to deal with costumes that require you schlepping around PROPS with it too... Original Wondie was always a hands-free option. NOW there's more plastic crap they can sell as toys, though. (and for all I know, that merchandising incentive could very well be the whole reason she IS pushed on us with that stupid stuff in all her imagery anyway... It would not be hard to imagine that profit motive as mandate marketing... )
