After weeks of rumors and leaks, it's finally official! Warner Bros. is remastering 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum and 2011's Batman: Arkham City for the Xbox One and PS4 in a bundle titled Batman: Return to Arkham.

The critically acclaimed games that were developed by Rocksteady Studios will be brought to the current generation of consoles with help from Virtuos.

Batman: Return to Arkham is available for pre-order now, and will retail for $49.99. It comes with all of the DLC released for the two games.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Batman: Return to Arkham. The new title bundles Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, two of the most critically acclaimed videogames on the last generation of gaming consoles. Both are being remastered for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One using Unreal Engine 4, a first for the award winning Batman: Arkham series. Remastered by Virtuos, this set offers fans a chance to play the first two Batman: Arkham titles including all Game of the Year edition bonus and downloadable content from both games, now with improved graphics, as well as upgraded models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders. Batman: Return to Arkham will be available beginning July 26 for a suggested retail price of $49.99/€49.99/£39.99.

Probably won't have it, but I'd love it if this collection added a photo mode to them just like Arkham Knight's.

Ah, was hoping it'd be done in-house even if that was unlikely. That way Rocksteady could go back and add small details based on popular fan theories (e.g., finding Strange's Batsuit) and tie things together that happened in AK--like make it clear if Amadeus' cell was in fact [redacted]'s, or actually putting [redacted]'s place of captivity on the island.
Nonetheless, the price is good and this team did actually upgrade the visuals beyond just a 1080p remastering. Boxart is fresh, too. Can't be too disappointed.

So it's just the 2 games remastered together...what am I missing here? I already own them both why would I want this?

  it's for those that don't have them (note the trailer's emphasis on how well the games were received), or those that want them available on their next gen devices which do not have backwards capability

      doesn't look like enough of a boost for me to get them and I can technically play all 3 games on PS Now if I want.

      the graphics look MUCH MUCH better then on PS3 already. So much more detail and texture.

  Some people doesn't have the PS3 and 360 anymore so it's a good opportunity for them (don't be selfish ). And the graphism looks really better than the previous version. (sorry for my english)

Too bad the red headed stepchild that is Origins isn't included. I don't get all the hate it gets but I can understand why it wouldn't be included

  I'm disappointed too. My only issue with that game was how buggy it was. It froze on me almost every time I played it. But story and gameplay wise, it was probably my favorite of the series. The boss fights were great!

        Her overall story was so weird and she was way too sexed up. Worse than in the New52. Barbera was on point till Knight but then that "romance" hit. Shiva all the way.

        Harley never had a drive of her own and was 100% derailed with the DLC for City but i fond the 1st sexy nurse version to be a fun joke. Catwoman had even less plot (but i liked her alternative ending in City!) and Barbara x Tim was beyond words. I am not the first to criticize Rocksteadies attitude towards the female cast... Even Paul Dini admitted that they looked like Playmates but i have more problems with the writing. Ivy had an above average showing, i guess. A silver medal for her.

      Arkham Knight was my least favorite. The Batmobile got repetitive and annoying, and there was a major lack of boss fights.

        Those were my only two (major) complaints about the game - the repetetive tank battles and the lack of bossfights (I still can´t fathom why Rocksteady did that).
        However I LOVE the Batmobile. Driving around in that thing and using it in combos or to solve puzzles and for the racetracks was awesome. It´s just the battles with it that were not on par.
        Apart from that I have only two minor other complaints:
        - I wish the other villains such as Harley or Two-Face would have been more involved throughout the story and that Deathstroke would have played a bigger role then tankdriver.
        - The only thing I viciously HATE about the game is that the combat system is actually less fluid and that the aerial attack move (cape stun, jump, jump) is extremely glitched now. On the other games I ALWAYS execute that move flawlessly but on Arkham Knight for some reason Batman most of the time just lunges forward instead of executing the move. It´s driving me fucking nuts, especially during combo challenges.

    I played Origins 3 weeks after launch and it was the most stable one after Asylum @ that point. It´s also the best written (by a mile even!) and only Origins Blackgate can go home.
    I also loved how it "fixed" Bane.
    The Xbone may (?) get a download code for the regular version, as always.

      Bane was so good in it! I actually sort of enjoyed blackgate. Went in expecting shit and was pleasantly suprised. Played the remake tho so the map was slightly better. Juuust slightly tho. Haha

      Word. recently I did that fight on hard without button prompts and without taking damage once. I never felt so much like Batman in my life lol

        Ive done it twice so far! Didn't even realize it was an achievement til i did it. We were indeed Batman on those days!

    With the most current patch, the game does not freeze at all anymore (well at least on PS3). I have played through the game for like 10 times at least with only a single freeze after I downloaded the patch.

    Boss fights were so BOSS!!! See, ive heardthst it had problems but my first playthru was prob free. When i replayed it on the 3rd or 4th i hit ONE snag w a mission breaking bug but a reload fixed it and no more probs after. Ive played each game at least 3 times. Theyre so good.

  My favorite part about origins was the online play. It was so much fun! Sure it was hard to matchmake for awhile but it was very unique and cool. I always mopped up quick when I was a hero.

    I sadly never got to try online mode. :/ Didn't have net at the time. Always wanted to but im sure the servers r long gone now.

Psych! Wanted to get back to Arkham Asylum for a while now but decided to wait for the inevitable HD remake. Glad to see the waiting is probably going to pay off :)

WOW! The upscale looks a lot better than I thought it would.
I'll still wait for an eventual price drop. $50 for remasters is still a little steep. The Nathan Drake Collection sold for 40 and you got 3 games with it and now it's sells new for 28 or even less.

YES!! I sold Asylum and City when I got rid of my 360. Now I can play 2 of my all time favourite games once again. $50 is a bit steep for remastered games though. Hopefully I can get a deal.

All DLC ever released? That's cool, I'm an Xbox owner so I never got to play as Joker. Now release all the DLC for Arkham Knight, so I can have the PS4 stuff as well. Is it too much to ask for a '60s Batman skin to go with the '60s Robin, Catwoman, and Batmobile?

I hope they get rid of all the pre-rendered cutscenes and make them real time so if we are using a skin it sppears on te cutscene..
Always disliked how I was using a skin and suddenly it became to normal batsuit fot a cutscene.

    even if they where just a few I hope they change them to real time render, just like in Arkham Knight, every cutscene is rendered in real time, and that way it always shows the Batsuit you are actually wearing

Personally speaking I played the games on PC(a decent laptop so no console wars here please) and I have a PS4 so not really going to get the games. Especially $50. Sheesh I both for 10 on Steam. Love the games though. Sad Origins isn't in it. Really liked that game. Felt like a prequel.

So that leaves Origins and Origins Blackgate. If they will not be remastered they are kind of a rarity now then, only available on PS3. Unless of course WB Montreal gets off their asses and remasters them too (They are not remastered by Rocksteady bc they did not make those game so WB Montreal would have to do that) - preferrably without the tons of bugs and glitches that plagued the (unpatched) PS3/360 versions.....

  Rocksteady didn't actually remaster the games. It was done by Virtuos, it's mentioned in the article and press release (after the gallery). So maybe there's hope!

For Batman fans who traded their PS3 for a PS4 and no longer have the original versions this seems like a no brainer. I own the collector editions and would never sell them but due to Arkham Knight the present and recent future is on PS4 so I guess I will eventually have both old and the remastered versions...

Love ALL the arkham games and have played all multiple times. Def one of my fave series in gaming. That said i still have all these games to play and i just hope they PLEASE MAKE MORE IN THIS STYLE!!! Absolutely love the open world and combat is one of my fave systems ever designed!!! Love this series so so much, hell i even found enjoyment in blackgate.
