'Justice League' villain revealed? It's not who you think

By the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice many fans assumed that Darkseid would be the big villain that the heroes would fight in Justice League: Part One. According to Birth.Movies.Death, that's not correct. They are reporting that Steppenwolf will be the main villain.

We actually get a look at Steppenwolf (or what appears to be a projection of him) in a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that Warner Bros. released online just days after the movie hit theaters. Check it out below:

In the comics Steppenwolf is the uncle of Darkseid and the military leader of Apokolips. Birth.Movies.Death says that Darkseid won't be completely absent in Justice League: Part One -- he'll appear towards the end -- but probably just to set up Justice League: Part Two.

    Why? Because people don't like that he's negative towards WB/DC? He got a lot right for Batman v Superman. I've been covering his stuff for YEARS. No one complained back then.

        I mentioned the Gordon story already. So that's 1 wrong out of 3 Batman v Superman stories. Not bad! I don't care what he reports about Marvel, that info would be coming from completely different sources.

        I think you have to separate them. He could have terrible Marvel sources, but good WB sources. The same people/companies aren't making all of these movies.

        I think the problem at this moment is that there seems to be many, if not most, sccops, rumors and opinions that want to focus on the more negative side with the DC films and that can get old.

        I understand that, but that's not what this is. This isn't behind-the-scenes drama, it's a rumor about a potential character. People should be excited over this potential news, and relax about their personal feelings towards to the person who reported it.

        I like this rumor though and I get the need for news as this is a site geared toward DC and we expect new news and you have to pay for the site. I loved MOS and BvS but admit that both have left some rather defensive towards negative comments from some. Still visit here everyday!

        Thanks! I've always covered rumors, since day 1 in 2010 when I started this site. I think the rumors/speculation process is part of the fun of covering these movies. Especially when a big actor gets cast and then we all try to figure out who he/she is going to be.

        Yes, but a lot of his sources tend to be producers who hear things from their friends that are producing said films at rival companies.

      Because he also got things VERY wrong a lot of times, and the negative stuff he spits out without second thought is flammable, because there's a vocal minority who really wants the negative stuff to be true, so the so called 'news' coming from him gets a lot of follow ups from other news outlets.

      Chris, pictures went online featuring KGBeast’s name on his trailer during filming before Faraci saw it and reported it as a scoop. That was 2014. That’s an El Mayimbe scoop, which is stating the obvious after the fact to try and build up credibility.
      As for Doomsday, I’m willing to give him partial credit on that one. Animators who worked on him kept leaking info too.

      Is it definite that Gordon isn't dead in the DCEU? I know J.K. Simmons has been cast in the role, but does that confirm he's alive in "real time"? The Waynes were cast & in BvS, but I'm not certain they'd be considered "alive" in the DCEU.

        Good point, though J.K. Simmons did say he hopes the role is for multiple movies. It's possible one of the first drafts of BvS (before Chris Terrio came onboard) included stuff about Gordon being dead.

      Seems like a lot of people forgot BvS fake script fiasco,El mayimbe and Faraci were getting scoops from that fake script (Worlds Finest). El mayimbe was going nuts when the guy who wrote it revealed himself.

      You are entitled to your opinion on Devin Faraci. But as someone with good sense of reasoning, how do you think that WBDC will trade away villians like Branic etc and use an unknown - Steppenwolf? How can the name Steppenwolf bring more people to the cinema after BvS? Steppenwolf might be introduced as a clifhanger who stabs Ocean master from behind from the Throne of Altantis storyline. But as the main villian, NO!. For the Doomsday scope, Zack Snyder has already said anyone who could decrypt the Kryptonian language in the MOS blu-ray will know the villian to the next film.

The site is further unreadable and has no insight into Hollywood. Most of his scoops are nonsense and he has NO understanding of DC comics. Just read his misrepresentation of Kingdom Come. Urgh.   - The mother boxes are all over the place in the movie
  - The parademons and omega symbols
  - Lex screaming around like a maniac that someone is coming and he is hungry

        Because they're just hinting his arrival. I don't think WB will screw the pooch if Darkseid isn't the villain in Part 1. They could easily show his arrival at the end of Part 1, and then Part 2 is where the heroes have to fight him.

        Part 1, they could have his general prepare Earth for his arrival while the heroes try to stop said general. The invasion doesn't have to occur until right at the end of Part 1, and then continue in Part 2. The only problem is that people may get pissed off because of the cliffhanger.

        but we dont have to do that. The dc universe has so many stories they could adapt, they just have to use them. Why not let darkseid invade earth in justice league part 2? Justice league part 1 should be a origin movie from all the coolest superheroes ever, giving everyone just enough time to shine, maybe struggling to join them, recruiting them and at the end dealing with a main villain. Maybe loose, let the flash go back in time and fix it

        Except for the part about them losing and having Flash travel back in time, that's what I'm saying. The invasion doesn't have to occur until Part 2. Part 1 can be left on a cliffhanger. Part 1 can have the other heroes origins, and them trying to prevent the invasion but fail at the process. Part 2 is where Snyder can let loose and go balls to the walls with the action.

        From my understanding, most people don't like cliffhangers that much. And BvS wasn't really a cliffhanger since they not only teased Supes' return, but also even most casual moviegoers wouldn't believe that WB would permanently kill off Superman.
        I, for one, would love to end Part 1 on a cliffhanger. Snyder and co. would just have to be ready for the possible backlash.

    I think in JL darksied will be main villain, but like zod and faora in man of Steel, I think there will be a secondary villain that can be one like kalibak, dessad, steppenwolf, granny, furies,...
    So probably General will be there but like faora in man of Steel, the character will be a secondary villain

        I actually like a throne of Atlantis storyline for the part 2 and darkseid for part 1 (much like new 52) darkseid can remain a looming shadow that can always return, and throne of Atlantis story can span and continue from aquaman solo movie story. To me its feel more cohesive

Meh. This makes me even less excited for JL... I really did not like the character design. I really want to be hype for this movie but as of right now, I'll just have to wait and see I guess.
Maybe since that was a deleted scene it can be a discarded design.

Well the source is saying this is a scoop but you can easily extrapolate this information from the deleted scene, Communion, that was released.
As for Steppenwolf, I think that sounds great and I'd love to see Bruce and Diana rushing to get together the Justice League as the beginnings of an invasion takes place. It would definitely add some urgency and give a much needed REASON for why the JL forms. It's not just "Hey let's be friends yay!" but instead would be "OH SHIT LEZ TEEM UP NOWWU"

I think they deleted the scene for a reason, and that reason is Darkseid stepping over Steppenwolf.

This will open the universe as Steppenwolf (in the comics) kills Superman and WonderWoman. And Batman defeats him only to lose his own life. I hope to all that is holy in the DC verse that they introduce the Female Furies.

Well, I always thought having Darkseid in JL Part 1 was way too early. Darkseid is the biggest, baddest villain in the entire DC universe and it'd be a waste to use him so soon.
Regardless of whoever villain it is, I just hope the movie turns out great. Just take a page from the Justice League's animated show's book and they should be fine.

If true, I'm actually fine with it. I don't know anything about the character but I'm happy the first JL baddie isn't Darkseid or Superman. I was actually hoping the JL1 villain would be more of someone that's sent to earth by Darkseid. Again this is just if the rumor is true. As long as the conflict isn't being forced (as much as I liked MoS, and was kind of ok on BvS, the reasoning for why people fight was a bit forced) and feels organic then I'm on board.

  If Snyder has Darkseid be the tactician that he is usually portrayed as, it would make total sense for him to send his soldiers FIRST before his arrival. He sees everyone as chess pieces while he himself is the king and the player.

    EXACTLY. you nailed it on the head much better than I did haha. When I was reading the article I was thinking of Darkseid moving chess pieces lol. What I hope is that there's a good/organic reason as to why he's doing what he's doing. I can't recall off the top of my head if any reason was given in BvS but I hope it isn't something like "I need that planet which just happens to conveniently have people that can challenge/defeat me". If that makes sense

      His reason may either be because he sees potential soldiers, i.e. the metahumans, or he's looking for the Anti-Life Equation and maybe the Codex can give him the answer if he finds out about it.

Damn most posts aren't even about who may or may not be in the movie but rather the source of the article. The legitimacy of BMD isn't the topic. I cant even really figure out why it matters, we are talking DCEU possibilities. You shouldn't go looking for real answers in an article with a question mark in the title, that's on you

The only reason I'm going to buy this for now is because A. We have already seen the footage with Lex. B. This would lead to Apocalypse for the sequel and Hal Jordan being introduced and informing the JL about the big baddie coming their way. Other than that I will wait and see.

I hope this is not true for no. of reasons
Firstly, Stepphenwolf looks too generic in DCEU, like a Bayformer decepticon, monochromatic.
Secondly, this'd be another setup movie for the Darkseid Justice League movie

  a lot of sites that also learns about rumors says how they got the info (inside sources, people close to the industry, leaked documents, mails, etc) not necessarily from whom. this guy just goes and say "hey, steppenwolf is JL's baddie". that's it. and not that there would be anything bad with that, i would love steppenwolf in JL, main baddie or secondary, but at least throw some credibility to your article. even i could just say that a brainiac-posessed lex is going to be JL's main enemy and i bet everyone would reply to my comment with "how in hell do you know?"
