'Batman v Superman' helped IMAX make a ton of money this quarter

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice helped IMAX have a huge first quarter! Between it and Deadpool, the company saw a 48% increase in revenue from the prior-year period to $92.1 million.

Director Zack Snyder is a huge fan of IMAX, so you can bet that Justice League: Part One will be shot in the large format as well.

I have never seen a movie in IMAX because here in germany the nearest Imax would be in Berlin which would be like 600 miles away from my home so that´s just not possible for me.

The closest for me is over an hour away, and I never made the trip to see Batman v Superman in IMAX. I'm a little disappointed in that :\

      That was a great movie to watch in IMAX. I almost teared up at the end of the movie, that was a strong ending.
      No point in beating the dead horse but I just didn't get the feeling with Superman's death in BvS.

      really? It was the exact opposite for me. I hated the ending of Rises (hated the whole concept of the movie actually), it really left me cold.
      Supermans death however drove me to tears. I am biased though since Death of Superman was the comic book in 1998 that made me a DC comics fan, it was my personal introduction as a fan to what made Superman so great, so seeing those pages come to life in the movie and seeing Superman sacrifice himself like that made me feel like I was 16 again, reading that book. I am also a HUGE fan of the Lois/Clark relationship since 1998. While I didn´t really feel that relationship in Man of Steel, BvS was a HUGE step up and really brought that powerful bond of love between them. When he said farewell to her and then propelled himself towards Doomsday - that was exactly like in the Death of Superman comic book. and when he died and she was slouched over his dead body, that image was like taken straight out of the comic book.
      and then later when she lied in his empty bed or seeing the coffin with the S (again which looked exactly like in the comic book) it felt so much like I was back in 1998, reading those comics for the first time and going through all those emotions again. One of the most moving sequences in superhero movie history for me.
      Dark Knight Rises though was just a mess that let me down on so many levels and I did not like the ending one bit.

      I was invested in Batman/Bruce Wayne for 3 movies and he made the sacrifice for his city. Yes he did survive, but it was still very emotional with the epic score going on. I was so glad that he made it. Because I actually cared for him.
      I'm still not sold on Superman's ambiguous conflicted character, it's just a major disconnect. Snyder just didn't earn The Death of Superman.
      The death of Superman had some really violent and powerful imagery. Superman really got beat down and was bleeding all over. It was heartbreaking and emotional. What happened in BvS just didn't feel right. There were million other ways to impale FrankenZod with the spear, yet they chose the most convenient and stupidest way. I knew he won't really die and he'll return in the next film, so it wasn't hear melting. So when they showed the coffin dirt levitating thing, I was like "meh! As if we didn't know" They should've saved it for a solo Superman movie or JL1.
      The same wasn't the case with TDKR, we knew this was the last movie. I really believed Bruce died and they're going to end the Trilogy with his death. When they revealed Bruce was alive, I was glad he made it.

      Definitely make a point in seeing in imax. I have seen many in the format and without question BvS has been the best I have seen yet. An hour drive ain't much if u blast the hardstyle on ;)

  First time I saw it was in IMAX and whether people liked the movie or not (I enjoyed it), it definitely is much more beautiful on an IMAX screen. The visuals are just much more lush and grand.

We definetly need more IMAX cinemas in Germany! I had the chance to see BvS on my last vacation in New York and I was totally blown away. I waited for this movie since it was announced and even planned this vacation around this date to see it in IMAX. The best thing about this wasn't even the screen, it was the sound. The only thing you heard was the movie. Not the jerk that commented on every scene, not the girlfriend that didn't got the plot, no eating noises ONLY THE MOVIE! :)

  -The entire first scene up through when Bruce gets off the helicopter in Metropolis. It switches to standard when it cuts to the behind shot of him looking at the world engine.
  -The entire Knightmare sequence.
  -Starts at the beginning of Bats/Supes fight when Bats is waiting for Supes in the rain. And either switches back to standard after they crash through the skylight or after they drop down to the ground floor, I can't remember which at the moment.
  -From the beginning of the funeral at the Kent farm, and I think, through the end of the movie. At the very least I'm pretty sure all the Kent farm scenes were in IMAX.
  There wasn't as much as TDKR, but it was equally awesome!

  cuts to 35mm when Bruce arrives at Metropolos

  The close up of Bats in the rain, the one we saw at the end of the Turkish Airline commercials. Then all the way until the BvS fight is over and Bats and Supes leave the building.
  It cuts back to IMAX after the trinity shot with Lois at the end of the Doomsday fight. Then it's IMAX all the way to the credits, no cuts to 35mm in between.
  All in all that gives us around 25 minutes of IMAX, BvS fight and the ending being the longest uninterrupted IMAX shot scenes. The Prologue is some four minutes and the Knightmare sequence too, if not a bit shorter.
  For Justice League I hope Snyder manages to double he amount of IMAX shots footage. I think having the prologue (assuming there is one), the Justice League formed, the return of Superman and the ending in IMAX should bring us close if not equal of the amount of IMAX minutes in BvS. also assuming at least one big action set piece is shot entirely in IMAX as well. I know it's incredibly hard to pull off on it's own, but something like the Doomsday fight with JL shot entirely in IMAX would be unprecedented. With Wagner being the DOP and hopefully some action scenes taking place during the day/dawn; we're in for quite the visual spectacle!! I mean, it's the JUSTICE LEAGUE

yeah but this really goes for any big visual effects driven movie. movies like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Avengers or Transformers (hate them all you want but those films are visual feasts) must absolutely kill it in Imax.

  Well yeah...I never waste money for Transformer (I rent them), and MCU movies will do fine with regular screen. Zack Snyder might not be the best story teller, but his ability to capture the best imagery is undeniable. A visual film like BvS deserves to be watched in IMAX

    Again the same applies to Michael Bay, who is one of the greatest visual directors of all time for me. Not a great storyteller but a visual master. especially the Transformers films are practically made for a visual experience and would be a must watch in Imax, even if it´s just for the effects and battle scenes alone.
    And the same absolutely goes for the big MCU epics like Avengers. Infinity War will be the Imax film of all Imax films.

      Oh yeah....SInce BvS I've fallen in love with IMAX so I have intention to watch Civil War in IMAX.
      On another hand, I tend to think of Michael Bay as CGI-heavy. Zack Snyder uses CGI a lot too, but his practical cinematography was also top-notch (well, a lot of that have to do with Larry Fong). Same thing with the MCU epic movies. I'm not a CGI person, so I tend to care less about those movies with beautiful CGI.

      No that´s a huge misconception. Bay is actually a VERY physical director and always has been. he is doing as much as possible with practical effects (especially explosions). The impression that he is CG-heavy only comes from the fact that the Transformers movies obviously are very CG heavy because the robots have to be done with CG. But Bay always uses a combination of CG and practical to great effect. A prime example of that would be the attack on the US navy fleet in Pearl Harbor.
      On his last film 13 Hours, Bay used almost exclusively practical effects.

At the time Pearl Harbor was in theater I was still a small kid so when I watched it I didn't think much of the cinematography. Don't worry. I'm not one of those who jump the bandwagon to hate on Michael Bay for his infamous reputation. This might be a very unpopular opinion, but two of my all time favorite were Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. And 13 Hours, I haven't watched it yet but I've heard good things about it

      I am a huge fan of Bay. Yeah he polarizes a lot but he just doesn´t give a crap. Bay is actually a director who is greatly known for his unique cinematography and his incredibly aesthetic style. There are not many directors who can make something look as epic, majestic and shiny as he does. It´s why the US military has a very close working relationship with him that extends far beyond of what other directors can do. Bay is often allowed to use real military vehicles (and even experimental prototypes) in his movies that no other director has been allowed to use before him (or ever). Car companies also always practically throw themselves at him. The reason for that is that both the military and those car companies know that nobody will make their vehicles look as perfect and badass as Bay does. It´s really amazing what the military allows him to use and do in his films. He also works with real military on these films like Marines, Seals etc.
      Bays visual style is very similar to Snyder (I always say that Snyder is the Michael Bay of the superhero genre. While others mostly would mean that as an insult I actually mean it as a compliment) which is not surprising considering they used to be classmates at the university.
      I love Bays super-epic bombast movies like Transformers but I think he is at his best when he is doing more realism based R rated actionfilms. For example the R-rated Directors Cut of Pearl Harbor is a LOT better and much more visceral. Both Pain & Gain and 13 Hours are R-rated films based on a true story and gained much better reviews then the Transformers films.
      His Bad Boys movies are simply the greatest buddy cop actionfilms since Lethal Weapon. especially Bad Boys II for me is still one of the most fun, entertaining , raunchy actionfilms of all time. And the cinematography on that movie is unbelievable (that freeway chase is still legendary)
      However my favorite Bay movie will always be his 1996 movie The Rock. That is simply one of the greatest movies EVER made and quite possibly the best actionfilm of the 90s (besides Terminator 2). It has stellar performances by Nicholas Cage , Ed Harris and Sean Connery, the action sequences are a masterpiece, the movie has great emotion and the cinematography on that film is just a work of art (just look at the intro).
      Interestingly enough Bay has actually worked with a several of the DCEU stars. He was the one who made Will Smith a moviestar in the first place (with Bad Boys), he also made Affleck a hollywoodstar in the early 2000s. he worked with Dwayne Johnson on Pain & Gain. In fact there are not a lot of the biggest stars in the movie business that Bay has not worked with - Will Smith, Nicholas Cage, Sean Connery, Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson, Ewan McGregor, Dwayne Johnson....the list goes on and on.
      Also Bay has worked with Hans Zimmer on several movies (especially Zimmers score for The Rock is still one of the greatest movie scores of all time in my opinion) and has worked since 2005 with Steve Jablonsky (The Island, all Transformers films etc.) who was Zimmers protege.

      High five...I adored The Rock, but I never knew it was a Michael Bay's movie . One of other Bay's movies that I enjoyed was The Island, but I think his earlier work was better than recent work, with the exception of a few. Transformer, I enjoyed the first one, didn't like the second, hated the third, and absolutely loathed the fourth.
      I never was a big fan of Bay like you are. I appreciate his style of filming, but I always thought some of his movies had pretty weak script-writing and stories. However, Bay, like Snyder, is one of those directors who is hated no matter what he does, for the most parts. Interestingly enough, his movies always seem to do very well despite critical reception.

      Yes Bays strengths are really all in his craft, he is an almost purely visual director. Like Snyder he comes from a music video background, which is why they both have such an epic, ultra stylized and aesthetic visual style. Bay is a master craftsman but yes he is not the most gifted storyteller. Though to be fair, he never actually writes his own films so the flaws in the scripts are not really his fault. The stories in his films are not very deep, complex or ambitious but thats not why anyone watches Bay films anyway. Most people watch them for the great actors, engaging characters, the monumental and emotional spectacle and the superb visual bombastic experience.
      And to be fair, Snyder is not any different. His movies do not have very strong scripts and stories either, he is an almost entirely visual director. Look at 300, look at Man of Steel, look at Sucker Punch, look at BvS - all movies criticised for their scripts but praised for their visual style and splendor.
      Though I would love to see Bay do a huge DC movie like this, just to see how his specific visual style would make such a movie look and sound, to see how similar or different it would be from Snyder. Sadly Bay is not a fan of superherofilms so he stays clear of them. Though a movie like BvS would have been really been right up his alley. Big fight scenes, high speed chases, epic imagery, Affleck as a main actor.....sounds a lot like a Bay movie to me ;)

      Haha...right. Zack Snyder and Michael Bay are really two peas in a pod. I have never been a fan of either due to these specific reasons. I know you don't watch their movies for stories or depth, but I still love to think a bit when I watch movies. But now that we talk about it, I actually enjoy Michael Bay's movies much more than Zack Snyder's. Zack wants to make deep and philosophical movies, but he always falls short of achieving the goal and ends up appearing pretentious to some people. Michael Bay, on another hand, doesn't care and just does what he likes, so his movies are usually purely for entertaining purpose. Maybe that's why his movies sell better to the general audience.

      yes there is a lot of truth in what you wrote. Indeed nobody watches Bay movies for deep stories that make you think or reflect on them. I love those kind of films too but when I want to watch a movie like that I don´t turn to Bay for that ;) Bay is pure popcorn entertainment at its finest. But nothing more then that.
      The difference between Bay and Snyder as you so rightly said is that while Snyder wants to tackle big ideas and deeper stories on occasion, Bay does not. Bay really always admitted openly that he just wants to make popcorn movies for the senses. Pure summer films. Granted, Bay too has made movies that were about more serious subjects (such as Pearl Harbor or The Island which he was very serious about) but he is very aware of his own strengths and above all just wants to make movies that entertain above all else. And his movies never try to be something they are not. If you watch a Bay movie you know exactly what you´re getting.
      However I noticed that in recent years Bay is doing two types of films - on the one hand the big, family friendly popcorn spectacles like Transformers that rake in billions but on the other he is also doing smaller, R rated films that deal with more serious matters and have a more important message such as Pain & Gain or now 13 Hours, both of which are based on a true story. He treats these kind of films very differently then his usual bombast fare. And now he is kind of alternating between these two type of films.

      That's not true at all. I don't remember any action scene with practical effects in BvS and MoS. Everything looked green screen to me.
      Michael Bay is a very hands on director, people give him too much shit for no reason.

      No reason? The worst thing about Bay is his ideology. He doesn't care about story. He does care about objetification of woman, pro-military american propaganda, and racial jokes and stereotypes, among other ugly things. I disagree with the good cinematography of Bay. He shoots the films so fast, and flashy-looking that it is impossible to look at. The action is a mess. That's my opinion.

      Bays visual presentation of the things he shoots is breathtaking cinematography. Just look at The Rock, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys, The Island - all incredibly gorgeous cinematography. and impossible to look at? the action scenes in the first or third Transformers are such amazing visual feasts that I couldn´t stop looking at. I agree that in the second and fourth films things were a bit messy but the Dinobot charge was fucking awesome.

      Obviously some things in MoS and BvS had to be practical effects. the Batmobile chase had some practical effects (they did not built that big ass car for nothing), the Superman/Batman battle had several practical effects, the Batman in the warehouse sequence was full of practical effects and I think even the final battle was not entirely CG.

      Careful though, so far no technical aspects of the Alexa 65/IMAX camera have been released. Either way, nothing comes close to 15/70mm IMAX so there's that.

I would have loved to but they were only showing it in 3D on the IMAX screen in my area. 3D is not worth the extra price.

      As for him being right: Wrong. I already explained that vision added to Bruce's fears that Superman needs to be stopped. It accomplished that while setting up the Justice League. As for the emailed videos, there was NOTHING to be confused about. It was already mentioned those were metahumans.
      If something so simple confused you, you should go back to watching Dora the explorer or Mickey Mouse fun house.

      What does Batman seeing Superman as a threat have anything to do with whether or not he knows what Parademons are, or who the Flash is, or what the Omega symbol is?
      He saw a vision where Superman leads an army of soldiers and monsters and the entire earth has been terraformed. He gets captured and killed. Then someone from the future tells him he should "fear him" and that he's "always been right about him". Bruce later sees this same person in the metahuman files which confirms it was all real.
      This just proves my point that you should go back to watching Dora the explorer because only a moron would get confused from something so simple.

My family and I live in Colorado. However we were able to travel to California over opening weekend and made time to catch the imax 3d version of batman v superman at the Chinese theater in on Hollywood Blvd. One of the most memorable experiences I'll ever have.

      Its the same stupid point everyone brings up with this movie. I get it's for IMAX but its all the same drivel you've read all over the internet. When it comes to BvS it needed to make so and so to just break even. BvS is a failure because this number is not right or that number is too low. Everything BvS touches needed to meet a certain level of some giant number that kept on growing and growing and growing to no end. I GET ITS FOR IMAX AND NOT WB. There was no winning for this movie no matter what. If it made 600 million for WB, well it needed 650 just to beak even. If it made 50 million for pepsi through promotions well haha avengers made 55 million for coke so it must be a failure. If it made a TON of money for IMAX it needed to a a FUCKTON FOR ANYONE TO BE HAPPY. Sheesh you folks are dense and got stuck on the wrong detail. I'm fortunate enough to live close to a science museum with a legit IMAX system. I took full advantage of that for BvS. I've seen it there 3 out of the 4 times I've seen it so far. The IMAX scenes are absolutely STUNNING. Big, crisp, and clear. Nothing really compares to watching a film in true IMAX. With that being said, I'm concerned about the growing success of the IMAX format. On the plus side, I'm sure it is encouraging film makers/studios to use the format more. But I'm concerned the success will continue to diminish the integrity of the format. IMAX is intended to be filmed and projected with 15/70mm film. Unfortunately as the format grows, it is being pushed further and further into digital to cut corners. Your average chain theaters are retrofitting for digital IMAX (LIEMAX) to get the full benefits of the name without actually using the true format (smaller screen and lower quality). They're basically using a cheap copy and charging double. It is actually a few bucks cheaper to see a movie at my local science museum in true IMAX format than at a chain theater with fake IMAX. Even worse, this diminishing integrity has been spreading to the true IMAX theaters. My local science center recently renovated their theater and switched to digital with two giant 4K laser projectors. This is still nowhere near the LIEMAX you'll find in a chain, and it's still breathtaking, but it still cheapens the experience for me a bit. But the biggest travesty they've been commiting since the upgrade is they almost exclusively screen their movies in 3D, which I personally think ruins the experience. I even noticed on their website while they were still screening BvS a notice that said something like, "All showings will be screened in 2D at the request of the director" (say what you will about Snyder's skill as a director, but I respect the hell out of that). And now we're being introduced to digital IMAX cameras with CA:Civil War, making me even more nervous for the future of the format. Sorry, this rant was unintentional, but I just get going when I start talking about it. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the topic.

IMAX 2D over 3D every day.The 3D makes the image darker and it's a shame,because I took my glasses off a few times and there was such a nice contrast without it.It's incredibly frustrating to not be able to choose between 2D and 3D in my country,but if you gotta watch a film in 3D,IMAX is the way to go,even if most of the time the experience isn't justified.
Hell,the 3D in this this movie was unfocused and I've seen it in IMAX once and another two times in a regular theater.I even asked friends if they were seeing the same and they confirmed.

  I hear you on that one. It drives me crazy when theaters try to force your hand. Only one scene in SW:TFA was filmed in IMAX, but I was pissed when I found out the science center was only screening it in 3D. Never ended up seeing it there. They're only showing CA:CW in 3D as well.

    Saw TFA in IMAX as well.I believe the TIE Fighter vs Millennium Falcon dog fight was the scene that went in full screen mode and I enjoyed it more on that big screen,because I watched the film in a regular theater first.
    I guess the only thing to do is just buy a projector and watch the movies at home in 2D when they come out on home video. :)

Hey bro can you clarify the difference between true Imax vs liemax. I hear that term thrown a lot "liemax" but when I try to search it up I always get an complicated answer. What aspect ratio did you get to see it as well? :)

  Basically, liemax screens are about a third of the size of true IMAX screens and have a rectangular aspect ratio (causing part of the picture to be clipped) where true IMAX has a more square ratio. Most liemax also have 2k projectors instead of the far superior 4k projectors, resulting in inferior resolution. The screen at my local IMAX is 60'hx80'w with up to a 1:43:1 aspect ratio. You must count yourself lucky that you were able to see this film in true IMAX. There are just so few theaters left who show 15/70mm IMAX. I know the laser technology is a sight to behold as well, but still. It saddens me that I'll never see a partially on IMAX shot film in 70mm... Was lucky to see The Hateful Eight in 70mm though, glorious experience.
My country has got like 5 IMAX theaters, all LieMax... Such a shame that they too only show the films in 3D in IMAX when the film has got a 3D release. Never once have they got an option to see the film in 2D IMAX, literally all the screenings of the film are then in 3D. It makes the ticket like €15 instead of around €11 when it's not 3D. I get why they do it purely from a financial pov but I just can't stand it. Even though it are still LieMax screens, at least the IMAX shots scenes are in the 1.9 aspect ratio and a whole lot brighter than the 35mm scenes.
I emailed my local theater to ask when they're going to use Laser but they said it was still in development and no plans have been made to install that... Which sucks. At least it would make it actually worth to see a film in IMAX.
Either way, what's even more upsetting is that the Alexa 65/IMAX camera is a pure fraud. It's literally a Alexa 65 camera with the IMAX name stamped on it. There's nothing IMAX about it. I hated it that every news site ran with the news of Civil War and Infinity Wars to be shot partially and completely in IMAX, big ass lie now it seems, it's just an Alexa 65...
But I do love that Nolan and Snyder use film IMAX for their films. I bet Justice League will have more IMAX shot footage than BvS and Nolan is shooting Dunkirk entirely with 65mm and IMAX, I bet he's going to include over an hour of IMAX in that. I really hope Snyder manages to shoot close to an hour for Justice League. Fingers crossed my local theater actually does install the Laser for the big films next year.

I LOVED that Snyder used IMAX on BvS. FOUR ENTIRE SEQUENCES no less. The prologue, Knightmare, BvS and the ending. I bet that the first and last scenes of Justice League will also be shot with IMAX camera's. The return of Superman and the Justice League formed and fighting as well of course lol

  I think it´ll be the other way around - Brainiac in JL 1 and Darkseid then as the ultimate big bad in JL 2. Because somehow JL 2 has to up the stakes and unless you break out villains like Anti-Monitor or Imperiex that´s not gonna happen if you already have Darkseid in JL 1.

      Well not a straight adaptation obviously, I mean Atlantis invading Earth is what brings the Justice League together, there were some rumors and Chris Terrio said he read Greek historian Diodorus of Sicily’s account of the war between Amazon and Atlantis to better understand Wonder Woman. It was just a thought and I may definitely be wrong.

      I think this is correct. Zack has also mentioned that Wonder Woman is "the gateway drug" to Justice League which makes me think that her place in the story is pivotal.

Snyder isn't leaving fortunately. The Knightmare scene will surely be explained or fleshed out in the Justice League movies. They wouldn't just show Parademons, a symbol representing Darkseid, show Superman as a tyrant, and then show the Flash warning him of Superman and saying Lois is the key after Superman tells Batman that he took her from him, for nothing. Far from pointless.

  I have to agree, look at the first few MCU movies, the only set up were post credit scenes so they didnt detract from the film you were watching. The didnt have Captain America in 1944 having a flash forward dream to seeing the Avengers or Thanos did they?

    Studios seem to forget one important thing. If you make a good movie, then do a sequel but if your movie fails then just dont. Here they have already planned out like 6 other movies and they were so focused setting up this other shit that they forgot to make a good movie. Batman vs superman would have been enough. Just concentrate in justice league bringing all together, thats what we`re in the cinema for.

      I said the first few MCU movies (the ones before the first Avengers movie) of the first 5 pre-Avengers movies IM2 was the only one that had that problem

      thats why it doesnt work. No one believed they killed him. No one has fallen for it. thats why it was such a shocker in comics and here it just wasnt. What if they kill him again? No one believes it. Thats why this ending is way to soon and zack fucked up one of the greatest storylines. Don't just shoehorn everything into one movie, he hasnt given time to superman. He hasnt earned the death! There were 1000 comics with superman before and here? 2 movies and they didnt even focused much on him and thats exactly the reason why the movie fails.

      you seem to be missing a very important point. We as comic book readers have a emotional connection to superman because of the many comics they established his characters so well and it was even more tragic to see him die after all those years. The main cinema audience dont have that connection, they dont care about this character cause there weren't time given to develop his character. If you want the main audience to relate to superman you have to establish him, they should feel the emotional connection we have but now they cant.

If not for the jaw-dropping IMAX visuals, I would have seen BvS once in the theater (I rarely see a film more than once on screens), and then just waited for the Director's Cut Blu-ray before watching again. I made it a point to see it twice in 70mm IMAX just because of how incredible it looked.

Pointless, for the scope of just THIS movie. But for the scope of the larger story of the DCEU, probably important.. and for all you know (given that the scene involved time travel), it needed to be in this movie to account for when the Flash travels back in time in a future movie. If that's true, it wouldn't make sense for the scene to NOT be included. Have to give the filmmakers the benefit of doubt here, until we see how the ENTIRE story unfolds over the next few years.

Don't look at this on a micro level, consider the bigger picture. Seeing the entire puzzle will give context to such "seemingly" pointless events, once more pieces are put in place. Patience my friend.

I have to respectfully disagree; I liked the movie a great deal but thought most of the scenes with Lois, and then the scene with Clark and his dad in the arctic, were the low points of the movie. Her character is boring and takes up too much screentime and it takes away from what should have been the story of Superman's internal struggle and redemption, his experience, and his conflict with Batman/Bruce Wayne. The scenes with her researching a bullet and meeting with the general and all of that added nothing to the movie. Now, on the other hand, the balcony scene, and then at the end with him before he says that this is "my world" were done very well. I just think less of her in the movie would have made it better.

To see it in IMAX 3D was a real aventure along with the soundtrack from Zimmer and Junkie XL who's also a Dutchman. I already pre-ordered the DVD Ultimate Cut on Amazon, cannot be compared to IMAX of course. Still hoping that the Director's Cut will be released in theaters after all.

I took my girlfriend to see it for the first time (my second viewing) and she was in tears from Superman's death to the credits. I don't blame her one bit. There are some truly emotional parts in this movie. I've never seen her cry for any Superhero movie.

Thanks for posting this the image showing how much more screen we get with IMAX was very informative.

I watched it in IMAX and IMAX 3D and those experiences were AMAZING. Good sound quality is also very important to enjoying the film experience. I have found one of my local IMAX theaters to have muddy bass that doesn't sound good but another IMAX theater has wonderful sound.

This is one of the most visually pleasing movies in a long time, the best visuals in a comic book movie I've ever seen. Can't wait to watch it in my home like 10 times the first week :)!
