Digital Spy has a sneak peek at the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Tech Manual by Titan Books. It's a huge 176 page book that shows off all the gadgets, weapons, and costumes from the movie.

It was hard to see clearly in the movie, but Robin's weapon isn't a staff like he's had in the Batman: Arkham games and comics. It's some kind of halberd or battle axe. Perhaps Batman and Robin never had a "no kill" rule in this universe, because that thing looks like it could do some damage!

  I wasn't overjoyed when I saw this suit to have shorts and short sleeves. I mean, that's a lot of exposed skin which no grown man should show without dedicating serious manscaping time aside. To be fair, maybe he wore some sort of leggings and a long sleeve undershirt.

  I bet its actually more of a tool that he uses to climb buildings, etc., with. Not go out and gut criminals like so many obsessed-with-Bats-killing freaks seem to think. Hopefully, the stand alone Batfilm goes back in time and we get to see Bruce become the way he is in BvS, after Joker kills Robin, and we will get to see Robin put that thing to 100 different uses, none of them killing.

  It's not an axe. It's more of a guisarme. A pole weapon able to bash, thrust, and slash. It's weird that people are 100% okay with Robin beating criminals into submission with a staff or billy clubs, but as soon as there's a chance blood could be drawn it's no longer okay. It's not like you can't severely damage someone with a blunt weapon.

      Even then, there are a dozen scenarios where Robin could have used this as a tool and not only as the murder weapon everyone's freaking out about it being. He could use it to pry open doors, catching guns in the hook to push a riffle away/out of someone's hand, stab someone's clothes agains a wall, keeping them in place, etc. And what if the blade is blunt, and only used as a fear tactic? This surely would look more threatening to a hardened criminal than a couple of sticks.

    You're hardly making much of a criticism there, though. More of a statement. A criticism would be that Snyder has created a poor translation of Batman to the screen - one that completely ignores one of the cornerstones of Batman's character, the no kill rule.

I do think that when something this controversial comes to light, a news outlet should make a critical evaluation of it. That's part of the job of a journalist - report facts, but supply context as well, whether it be positive or negative.

I totally,understand that you have to provide a balance so as not to set off some of the more unstable folk out there!         A character who has seen some crazy shit. A character who had a Robin, a close, personal friend, die, for which he probably blames himself. His actions are perfectly justified. Your issue is you are looking for ONE. YOUNGER version of Batman, when there are hundreds. This is not 25, 30 year old Batman, this is a Batman who has done it for a long time, seen many things. "20 years in Gotham. How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?" That quote, Bruce is talking about himself as much as anyone else. We knew before the trailers even hit that this was going to be, (to quote Ben and Snyder directly) "a f*cked up Batman." What's funny is you think a guy who watched his parents die and dresses up as a BAT and runs around at night is crossing some line for a little criminal brutality or death. BTW Plenty of his kills in BvS were indirect. He's like, "oh, that criminal was associated with that exploding object?? Not my concern."
        LASTLY, concerning Robins 'axe.' I look at that thing, with its many hooks and what not, and see a parkour runners dream. I imagine he used that thing to scale all kinds of buildings. Plus Robin is acrobatic, he came from a circus... he could jam that blade into a wall and swing on it like trapeze artists. Maybe it breaks in two and can fire half with a line, you know, Robins grapnle tool. I am willing to bet Bruce did NOT start killing until AFTER Robin died. So, people calling that an axe should get the killing out of their heads and start thinking about the practical uses that thing looks like it actually has. Yup. TRUTH.

        That's a part that a lot of people are forgetting, that this batman is worn down and seemingly has given up on what he use to believe in once the world around him started crumbling again. A young child loses his parents, never honestly dealing with that loss in a healthy way, grows up and vows to take justice into his own hands and save the currupt city he calls home. He starts off with a set of morals, but as 20 years pass, nothing has changed for the better. His partner/friend/ward is now dead, thanks to a psychopath that he refused to kill because of his rule. Not to mention the possible other indirect deaths on batman so hands because he doesn't kill his enemies. Or to go even further, has it gotten so bad that the people that were on batmans side have possibly turned to a life of crime?
        Zack Synder and Ben Affleck have said for the past three years that this batman is on the edge of being a hero and a villain, and the story is one of redemption. Finding his way back into the light he dreamed and believed the batman would bring when he was young and naive. So I'm surprised that so many people were shocked by how violent he was. He also, like many people have stated, was just as murderous as his previous films, he just doesn't have any gripes about it anymore.
        I'm a huge batman and DC fan, so I understand the anger to a certain extent. I mean I've got them tattooed to my body and would love to work for them in the near future, so I totally understand the passion, and actually appreciate both sides of the argument. But just like every other debate (e.i; religion, politics, race, sexual orientation, etc.) we need to remove ourselves from the equation and look at it from an outside perspective.
        I really enjoyed bvs because, just like the marvel universe, it's an opportunity to see else world interpretations of these grand characters in a live action setting. These characters were interesting and different from anything we've seen. I also believe that this movie gave and ending that allows the characters to have a revelation about what it means to be a hero. There will be a struggle to do what's right and what's easy, and we all can make the mistake of taking the easy route, even heroes. Were all flawed and so were superman and batman, which made me relate and like them as characters even more.
        Also, a fair amount of marvel films, This movie wasn't perfect (Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Both Thor movies). To me it was mostly due to the editing (I'm also not blaming the editor either, because that job is far from easy), but it think that's because it was originally a 4 hour movie, and you can't edit a movie that long into 2 1/2 hours without losing 40% of specific plot points. I wish WB would have had more faith in its fan base to let us see the first edit in its entirety, but at the same time I get the fear of such a long running time. But either way, i feel they lost the same number of viewers to a messy structure. You live and learn, we all will move on and still love these characters, so let's just enjoy the time we have with these movies.

        PS: if the trailers were less revealing, I think more people would have enjoyed this movie. All of the shock and awe moments were in the trailers.

        As movies go it was very poor mostly but for the simple reasons.....Like If it explained these new gadgets just a little bit, like when reading this book it was really interesting but put some of it in the film!..... Robin a 10 second clip? Gordon....The past a 10 second clip?.....Bruce doing detective work?......Dont assume everyone will be up to date on batman to a level where we just know what hes doing and why! I never get why arguably the best batman TAS as never been used in modern batman movies take stories and characters from that keep the batmans ideals and morals and you cant go far wrong, there was no character development in this! Snyder rammed so much in and rushed for justice league thats the whole reason batman was in it because they felt superman Couldn't fly solo after the first film! Again making a superman film isnt hard superman returns was great if you take away routh put cavil, get rid of the leaving earth story and the son story and keep it dark like mos but with the light touch and feel thats singer encorporated from donner i always feel snyder sticks too close to what he likes and to close to that source material , change is great for lesser known characters but batman, superman ,spiderman, cap, these are hugely iconic and popular characters and to jump from superman returns to mos was a lot of change even as a fan of comics and all the movies, and then its the same for batman to go from the dark knight to tdkr was a jump that i felt wasnt as good but then to from tdkr to snyders batman is to much for most hence the comments and people generally just left baffled about whats happened it would be nice to tell the story like he did in watchmen but to less extent, i enjoyed the film but there was huge plot holes story jumps and basic guess work 90 percent of the people i spoke too who saw the film hadn't understood it so from a directors point he has failed there, and finally wow lex was terrible so anoying !! Now people say we will get prequels just like starwars ep 7!! Its all a money train these prequels and i hate them personally i like to learn the story and have a sense of whats happened or happening not have to pay to see prequels to explain it to me.

        I respect your passion man, but even if Chris did post his opinion regularly, I don't think that as a true Batman fan that he should be offended by, what looks to be, a disregard for the no-kill rule by Affleck's Batman. I'm a true Batman fan and I'm not offended by it. If anything, I think it's an interesting depiction of the character and shows where he's at psychologically and emotionally. What frustrates me is that I don't feel like Snyder effectively gives him an arc; did Batman ever have a no-kill rule pre-Superman? Is he actively trying to kill these criminals, or is he just not going out of his way to be non-lethal? Is he done killing at the end of BvS, is him not branding Luthor (i.e. giving him a death sentence in prison) supposed to convey this change of heart he's had about killing? As long as it's well thought out, interesting, and the character is effectively developed with some kind of arc then I'm good with the no-kill rule, but I'm frustrated with Snyder & Co. b/c I don't think it was effectively communicated. Thoughts?

        Of course he had a no kill rule.Just look at the Suicide Squad blitz trailer when Batman is carrying Harley to the Batmobile.There are no turrets on the front of it.
        It works if it happens in the present,because it shows him on the road to redemption after BvS and it works if it's a flashback sequence,since he started out an idealist,but lost his way after too many disappointments along the years.

        Thanks for the reply. Regardless of all the marketing you're pointing out, and assuming everything you said is true, none of that is depicted in the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice theatrical movie, which is where the arc should be made very clear, and it is not imo.

        Oh,but it is.When Bruce is telling Alfred "Twenty years in Gotham.How many good guys are left?How many stay that way?" he's not only talking about the good people that became corrupted over the years,he's also talking about himself.
        It's as clear as day if you look at how bitter he is throughout the film and how he acts after he hears from Lois that Superman has a mother too.He thought of him as an alien,a threat,not as a person with a mother and father,who has feelings.
        He was going to turn into Joe Chill that moment and he got a heavy dose of reality that woke him up.

        I actually agree with you, I THINK there's a previous no-kill rule. And that's true about what Bruce says, I also think Bruce & Alfred's prior discussion where Bruce says "We're criminals, Alfred. We've always been criminals. Nothing's changed." is Bruce defending his current disregard for the no-kill rule. My issue is that it's NOT clear as day, if this were a court of law, neither you nor I could prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that he had a no-kill rule, which bugs me. Although I liked the movie, Snyder needs to more clearly connect the dots imo, because he leaves so much to be presumed that I don't know for sure if my assumptions and interpretations are even accurate with the narrative. In interviews, he talks about interesting ideas & thoughts that he had when making this movie, yet a lot of those ideas/thoughts aren't illustrated in the movie (e.g. why Superman didn't try to find his mom first). If this were a David Lynch movie, I'd be OK with vagueness lol, I just wish Snyder made things more clear because things like the no-kill rule are not made 100% explicitly clear, and something like that should be imo. Maybe the 3 hour Ultimate Edition will flesh some of this out (fingers crossed).

        I think the beauty of not making blatantly out there(although to me it is clear) is that you get to discover the wordplay's meaning after repeated viewings,which is a good sign for any movie.It's true that some moments are vague,but again,that forces you to engage in what's going on and a lot of people don't like that for whatever reason.
        I've seen it 3 times so far and planning to go one more time while it's still in theaters.I can't say that I'm getting bored of it and if it's the case with this version,which does have some issues,I can't wait to see what the Ultimate Cut brings to the table.

        Haha thanks and same to you! I've seen it 3 times as well, and I agree with you about the wordplay being really important and I've picked up/put together so much more by the 3rd viewing. Because of this, it's actually been a better experience every time I see it. Those dialogue heavy scenes are my favorite parts of the movie, so I hope we get some more of those in the Ultimate Edition that we can roll around in and soak up.

        I agree with your comments. Some of the character choices were very much left for the viewer to interpret, which I enjoy, but understand how frustrating it can be to a lot of other viewers. Like I said, that's why I think the full 4 hour movie would have been a better film all around. when you chop up something like that down a whole hour and a half, huge plot holes are inevitable. Not saying it gives the movie a pass, but I think it should clarify what the creatives behind this movie were up against in the last 5-6 months before its release. understandably so, the studio was nervous to put something that long out, because the majority doesn't have the patience to sit through something that long, except for die hard fans.
        I guarantee Snyder wasn't happy about cutting half of the film out.

        I totally agree, with the script that Snyder had at his disposal, I don't know how anybody could have flawlessly crammed it all in in 2.5 hours, that's why I'm looking forward to the 3 hour Ultimate Edition, hopefully it smooths out and fills in some of the plot holes/uncertainties. To me, trying to interpret the theatrical cut is like trying to use 3 equations to solve for 4 unknown factors; I have some idea of what's going on, but I need that 4th equation to concretely figure it all out lol what a nerd...

        Site one example in the comics in the last 40 years where Batman killed in a way that Affleck did (yes and Keaton, and even to a lesser degree Bale did too). Even Frank Miller had him using rubber bullets in the Bat-tank.

        Batman not killing isn't some incidental detail like whether he wears gray or black. It has been a central plot point and has been part of the character's core ideology for at least the last 40 years.
        You change that and you just have a different hero cosplaying like Batman.

        The Batman no killing rule was made for the kids who read the comics. In a movie, it would seem unrealistic if no one died from all that crazy batman action. So unless you want some campy Batman shit, stop complaining.

        I agree with u on this. You have to remember the history behind the characters in this movie. They have said this so many times esp during interviews. Bruce Wayne is burned out, end of his rope etc. All the reasons why he is going around branding criminals. This is a brutal batman. AND I FUCKIN LOVE IT.
        A batman who is tired of capturing criminals and only to see them loose again. In the beginning of the film, in the batcave, Bruce was telling alfred how he views these criminals and thats when Alfred starts to tell him he has changed.
        Yes. It would be unrealistic if NO ONE DIED in all that crazy action. This is not the batman early in his career, where he views criminals in a very different manner.

        This is exactly it. Man, I've lost hope in humanity after this nonsense.
        Batman is a man. A human being. Full of flaws. He started out good. He had good intentions. He does the right thing in his vigilantism. But when you portray the character in realistic fashion, i.e. in a movie universe, it's inevitable that the character will have to evolve.
        Up until BvS, we haven't seen what being Batman for two decades does to a man. This Batman has been fighting scum for 20 years... 20 years of facing brutal criminals, experiencing tragic losses, losing close friends, completely being beaten down mentally, emotionally, and physically... And in the end, you realize that nothing is changing... Take one criminal down, another pops up... Oh and Gods are descending on Earth, rendering your sacrifices and human existence obsolete...
        So 20 years of putting your life through hell, for nothing... As a human being, he's bound to break... And this is the genius of Zack Snyder. He wasn't afraid to portray Batman for who he really is, beyond the comics unrealistic interpretation. A goddam human being. Living in a world where sometimes, like in our world, extreme s*** is going to pour down.

      People have to stop saying "batman killed before, look at the 40's" who cares ?!
      Yeah maybe he killed after (the hostage scene in TDKR), he holds a gun trying to kill darkseid BUT the idea of Batman is that he doesn't kill ! That's the essence of the character you cannot deny it. When we talk about Batman, we know he doesn't kill even if he did sometimes at the golden and maybe silver age.
      I don't even have a problem with Batman killing in this movie because it was so interesting to show a fallen Batman finding a redemption, that's awesome, but i'm tired of people sayin "of course Batman kills, he did in stories golden age no one remember, he did in that story and this one blablablabl" if you are a Batman fan, you know Batman doesn't kill, it is in his DNA in the comics. If you don't, then you're in denial.

        No you´re the one being in denial if you refuse to accept the fact that Batman has a 77 year history and that he did kill in that history. It doesn´t matter when and how often, what matters is that he did.
        Btw he killed Joker as recently as 2015 in the comics. He deliberately killed himself and Joker. They were saved by the dionisium but Batman could not know that at the time when he made the choice to kill them both.

Plus Robin is acrobatic, he came from a circus... he could jam that blade into a wall and swing on it like trapeze artists. Maybe it breaks in two and can fire half with a line, you know, Robins grapnle tool. I am willing to bet Bruce did NOT start killing until AFTER Robin died. So, people calling that an axe should get the killing out of their heads and start thinking about the practical uses that thing looks like it actually has. I'm not sure if it was in the head, but he did shoot him and I think there was blood on the wall behind him, they changed it in the animated movie. but sometimes its hard to tell with comics.

  Well, from Suicide Squad's newest trailer, Batman didn't have machine guns on his Batmobile in his early years (provided that that scene is indeed a flashback)... So he probably only started not caring about wether criminals live or not after he was broken when Robin died at the hands of the Joker... I do agree that Robin's weapon should have been a staff, and not a fucking battle axe.

    As long as Robin wasn't shown using that axe,there's no reason to believe it was his go-to weapon whenever he went out with Batman to fight crime.It certainly isn't comfortable running with something like that,so it could have been used for different reasons.
    It's funny how people immediately exaggerate that Robin was a blood thirsty killer too,when there's a saying that goes "Never bring a knife to a gunfight.",but I guess some will criticize just about everything without any sort of proof to back them up in their wild claims.

        Like someone else said in the comment section,the weapon is a combination of a chinese staff(guan dao),the japanese one( ō-naginata) and the halberd.There are a lot of fight demostrations online with these sort of weapons and you can clearly see they can be used for non killing purposes.What matters is how the person chooses to use it.
        Even a pen can be deadly in the right hands if you think about it.

        Listen,some of those people died(I never said they didn't),but he only fired the turrets after that guy started shooting at the Batmobile.It's self defense and if his car wouldn't have been bulletproof,it would have blown up too from that heavy fire coming from the gatling gun.
        Like I said before,he's older and doesn't give a shit as in the old days.At the end of the movie he turns a new leaf and in JL you'll see him trying to be more careful.

        Joker launched an RPG missile against Batman in The Dark Knight... Batman only killed Two Face due to a lack of any other choice in that movie. The self defense argument is absolutely worthless when it comes to Batman, because he always has something to prevent killing. As I've said before, Batman probably was touched by Superman and is now back to a no-killing rule. But the fact of the matter is, he did not have that rule in BvS, and you simply can't deny it, which was my original argument. I have no idea what you've been trying to do with those arguments.

        Why are you comparing this Batman to Nolan's? It's not a continuation of that universe and in terms of approach,only the tone is similar.The fact of the matter is you can't accept that Batman in BvS has been let down by the methods time and time again throughout the years and has become careless about how he's handling criminals.It's not cold blooded murder,but then again,he's not giving them any breaks either.
        He is being shown as a man with flaws,not a perfect character.This was his arc in the film,from being in the dark to seeing the light again.Is it such a hard concept to grasp?
        My argument is that you should stop comparing him with the Nolan version or the comics version with all the preconceptions it comes and just appreciate him as he is in the film,because it's a different thing and seeing the bigger picture is more important than getting caught up in the "he's not the Batman I know" shtick.
        It's a much harder thing to engage with a movie and what it's doing than to criticize everything that's different from the comics or book,depending on the source material.
        Everybody is good at pointing out possible flaws,but not a lot take the time to actually get into the mindset of the characters and why they're doing what they're doing because a lack of empathy is missing in today's audience.Not saying you're the case,because you acknowledged that Superman's death changed him and he's getting back on the saddle,so to speak.
        Anyway,I think we can both agree we'll see a different Batman in JL and his solo movie,even though I still think he should keep a part of the brutality we saw in BvS.

      its the fact that for the majority his history Batman hasn't killed and thats usually the Batman people grow up and get to know and fall in love with. He's been around for 77 years and a lot of writers have taken over and a lot crazy stuffs happened. We don't define the characters by what he's done the minority of the time, we judge it by what he's done for the majority of his run and for the majority of his run in comics he has a rule about not killing. Forever he doesn't kill and even makes a big speech about it too robin, and only really kills Two Face to save Robin(both metaphorically and literally) and Chase, and he didn't even really kill him he threw coins at him and his own obsession is the thing that made him fall. Batman and Robin e just didn't kill anyone I think. Nolan verse at least he knows killing is wrong and only really kills when its an absolute necessity. While in Batman V Superman (exception of KGBeast which I actually didn't mind) he's doing it just cause it seems like. Cause in all honesty he didn't need to get in the batmobile and kill all those thugs in their car, CAUSE HE ALREADY SHOT A TRACKER ON IT. and when saving Martha, he could have tried doing that thing that he's known for, you know being stealthy, rather than rumble through in the Bat-Wing blowing up all the goons. #AlsoFacts. heheheheheeh

        My own personal take on the movies is that they are elseworlds/what-ifs. The "real" story is told in the pages of the primary comic titles. In that sense, it's never really bothered me all that much what the films have portrayed. To be honest, I'm highly more irritated when a poorly written comic comes out than when I find a film to be sub par. At the same time, I get your point. The films are seen by more people than the comics, so naturally, a larger number of individuals are going to be influenced by them and potential end up seeing that Batman as THE BATMAN. For me, it's no big deal, because I know who Batman is. Admittedly, my enjoyment of a film is swayed by how closely it adheres to the comics. And to be honest, none of the live action films have gotten it 100% right. There will be bits here and there that are perfect, but they are usually nothing more than moments of clarity in a sea of original material that the writer or director have fabricated. It's their take on the character, so it's not the character any more.
        To give a personal story about my frustrations with the movies, I will occasionally meet a person that says they are a Batman fan. We get to talking, and halfway through the conversation, their eyes start to glaze over like a deer caught in headlights. That's when I realize, they've only seen a couple of movies. They don't really know anything about the world of Batman. That's not meant to diminish their love of what they do know. But so many people are missing out because all they have ever seen is a movie.
        In regards to it reflecting poorly on the comics, I don't think that is necessarily true. While it might give an uninitiated comic reader pause in their decision to take up the hobby, anyone already involved isn't going to have their opinion of the comics altered by a movie. And since the opinion that someone else forms of Batman isn't really effecting my ability to enjoy the stories from the comics, I'm just not that concerned about it.
        I've been reading comics for 30 years, so I was actively reading comics during the release of every single Batman movie since 89. What goes on in the movies has never effected the world of the comics. Sometimes there will be comic adaptations that get released in conjunction with a movie, and occasionally you will see an influx of the character that is featured in the movies all of a sudden appear more in the comics, but the movies have never altered the narrative of the comics.
        "I think fans have a responsibility to hold the people producing these things accountable." I agree with your closing statement 100%. The only difference is, since my passion is for the comics, I hold the comic writers accountable, not the creative teams behind the films.

        I understand what you mean about presenting the best possible experience for a new fan. The week that BvS came out, DC also released Batman #50, and I didn't like that comic at all. I remember talking to someone and saying, "Can you imagine someone going to see that movie and then wanting to pick up a Batman comic for the first time." It made me sad to think that Batman #50 could be some kids first Batman comic. So, while our areas of interest are different, we do share the same desire to safeguard the character and see him bolstered through worthwhile depictions.

        Dude, Scott Snyder brought both Batman and Joker on a whole new level. He pushed them both to their limits and showed us what both are capable of in the extreme. He showed us what Joker can do when he is truly pissed off -- make the entire JL, sans Batman, his bitches. And that is appropriate because like Batman he is a Großmeister -- he beats everyone by being 10 steps ahead of them. And then Batman beats them by the same principle.
        Moreover, what I hold dearly is that Snyder finally touched on the fear factor in Batman himself. Funny truth is that he is afraid of the Joker. For one, he is afraid because of what the Joker can do to the world if he is gone. But more so, because he is afraid that the Joker may be right, that his vision of life may be the correct one, that Batman's crusade is doomed to fail. And that's brilliant, because the whole character of Batman is built on instilling fear into the hearts of villains. Because, remember that he is the Darkness. And then suddenly he runs into a person that "sees through darkness with his bullet-eyes," and he is lost, relegated to play the role of playing the catch up. To me personally, that is close as hell, as I myself have been struggling with the same existential issues.
        As such, DotF and Endgame will forever be among my favorite Batman stories ever told.

        Ok, I'll give you the Gordo-Bat arc. But DotF and Endgame dealt with the themes of his family pulling him down, and his fear of failure and death. Those have not been explored in depth, so I don't see them to be that derivative.

        Scott finished on a very low note, even admitting that Gordo-Bat was a huge mistake in the issue #50 itself,

        I think most fair weather bat-fans consider each film to be the unique interpretation of its director, a la graphic novels and mini-series. HOWEVER, fair weather bat-fans also know that BvS is being sold on its "canonicity." Side-note: Batman '66 is the most comic book-accurate film version of that character, and the absurdity of the premise, not the camp, is what makes it so funny. There was no hint of underlying absurdity in BvS, and it came off as self-important, aloof, and just plain misguided.

        I'm actually quite partial to "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm". Along those lines, some of the DC animated original movies have also been very faithful to the source material. Not all, but some are almost carbon copies of the comics.

        I think that whether you call them adaptations or elseworlds, the idea that I was trying to get across was that, they both present a different version of the character through a limited series of stories. Limited, numerically speaking, not in depth. While the primary Batman titles carry on a story line for decades at a time, and a version of the character who maintains consistency throughout that period, the movies and elseworlds present a much more limited run of an alternate version of the character.

    Most of your points and arguments are logical and correct in my opinion, but at the end of the day its a comic book character logic isnt involved batmans time of creation was perfect for killing as mobsters and gangsters were ripe, political figures were corrupt and the police were the worst so a avenging vigilante who punished these officials and criminals was perfect,but now its so much arder for a batman to be believable or slightly realistic as technology is so advanced and the world is pretty well governed i feel batman has less impact so maybe a future batman like beyond would be a nice step to see on film

At its core and purely aesthetically, that is a man killing battle axe, you cannot look at it and see something else without really reading into it, and in a universe batman kills without batting an eye, its not a stretch. I know a lot was cut from BvS, but so much shouldn't be left up to the viewer needing to massively read into things and come up with their own characters reasoning. Literally all we have to go on with Snyder's Robin is that he was killed by the Joker most likely and carried a battle axe. I have seen many people argue that Batman didn't start killing until the Joker killed Robin, hence Alfred's cruelty line, but with robin carrying a fucking battle axe I can't imagine that is the case, purely going off what the film presented.

Thirdly, Zacks problem isn't the interpretation of the character it's in not choosing the interpretation that is more popular. The truth of the matter is that a lot of Batman fans prefer the animated version while Zack has chosen elements from the graphic novels which is very different in nature and there are people that prefer that version.

I've been trying so hard to give Snyder the benefit of a doubt. Even with Batman's killings, I've been trying to see it from his possible perspective and how this may. But Robin's battle axe is just too much. It shows that either a) he simply doesn't understand the characters or b) he understands them but so arrogantly wants to do his take on it that he rejects their core values or c) he's just plain sadomasochistic .
Maybe this is just Earth 2 or some Flashpoint Paradox Universe to begin with and we can get a reboot with characters that don't just look like they're from the comics but actually act in a manner consistent with the source material.

I keep forgetting that Robin's suit looks quite traditional. It's open on the arms and legs and got the eyepatch. For the rest it's the same fabric as Batman's suit, just a different colour. I think it looks great.
I think the axe fits Jason, Batman probably thought it was on the edge if not too much as well. Then again, it also could've been the weapon Joker clubbed him to death with.. idk lol

  I go where I please. This is not just a Batman site anymore it´s a site that covers all of the DCEU. So you can kindly piss off.
  Also I am actually a big Batman fan. Though not just really the Batman character but more the entire Batman world and mythology. I like several Bat characters more then batman, yes. Such as Batgirl, Red Hood, Joker or Harley Quinn. But I always loved Batman. I am just not so narrow minded and stuck up about him and always open for different interpretations. Yes I think a grizzled, veteran Batman who has been battered by this neverending war he fights and as a result has become more extreme is AWESOME because it shows how such a war can change you over the years. It´s realistic. After all the shit he went through he just wants to get the job done by any means necessary now. He lost his idealism. Thats what happens to you in war. I never had a problem with a killing Batman as long as he is not an executioner who shoots his enemies point blank between the eyes or cuts off their heads or dismembowels them or something. BUt he is a trained ninja after all. he uses sharp and bladed weaponry. He was trained to kill.
  so yeah I am a Batman fan, I love his world , I love the DCU so thats why I am here. Not every Batman fan has to be so narrowminded and pussyfooted about the no killing thing. Frankly I find it ridiculous to be so obsessed with that. Batman is a soldier in a war. In war people die. he accepted that when he went to war. End of story.

    There's nothing 'pussyfooting' about refusing to cross the line into being a killer. That's what makes Batman the greatest comic book character of all time. He doesn't kill because he doesn't want another child to grow up parentless like he did, and he knows that there's a darkness inside him that will claw its way out if he crosses that one line - and will make him just as bad as the villains he hunts.
    Also, he's a master tactician, a genius, a man who constantly strives to reach the pinnacle of human perfection. He doesn't need to kill. It's not a challenge for him not to.
    That's heroic. That's iconic. That's Batman.
    ...something Zack Snyder, and people like yourself, either don't understand, or don't care about.

Damian's used a sword before. It's just a sharp weapon. What does history that other creators are responsible for, and selfish fans who just wanna see THEIR favorite version of Batman, have to do with Zack Snyder? Clearly, Snyder and Affleck wanted to go with a darker version of the character. And it's awesome!

I wouldn't be suprised if Jason Todd was the first and only Robin in the DCEU, so far. And as expected, the comic book purist are just ASSuming that Batfleck and Robin ran around Gotham yelling "slice and dice"!, as they decapitated most of the rogues gallery. That's PROBABLY not the case. LOL

These comments about Robin wielding a halberd are completely blown out of proportion and branding him as a killer is not only exaggerated,it's also without any basis.
In production it's a normal thing for concept artists to make tons of designs that are freaky(take Doomsday's look,for example) to explore different designs or functionality and just because you see a battle axe in those photos doesn't mean he actually used one,since,you know,there's nothing else shown other than the costume on display in BvS.
Having said that,his staff could have had different tips that would screw on depending on what sort of incident they were dealing with,but even if he did have a halberd as a weapon of choice,it wouldn't be of much use against guns,would it? Therefore,this so called killer would be in a disadvantage during a fight with gangsters or supervillains.

    It is fine,since he's fighting crime.And Batman isn't murdering people,it's manslaughter at best.If he would be murdering them straight up,he wouldn't have took the time to disarm them in the warehouse and fight them mano y mano.
    If you're not gonna have the decency to understand the character as he is in the movie instead of how you want him to be or how he is in the comics,then it's your fault.
    Take cops,for example.There are big chances that the ones who go on patrol will develop PTSD or go into depression since they're the first people to arrive at the scene of a crime.
    Some even commit suicide or get angrier and that's why there's this thing called police brutality that's been going on for decades in America.Violence begets violence.
    20 years of crime fighting will change even the most idealistic person in the world,so turning Batman into a human being who isn't a Gary Stu with a solution for absolutely every situation is a refreshing thing to see.They're also exploring the crazy side of him,which you don't get to see very often,because at the end of the day,Bruce/Batman has some mental issues.

        The guy in the back of the SUV started to shoot the gatling gun at the Batmobile and then,after Batman couldn't see because of all those bullets hitting the front window,fired the turrets at the tires and around the guy who was operating the gun.Trust me,I've seen the film 3 times to know what I'm talking about.
        The car then runs off to the side of the road and what happened to them isn't shown.The driver and passenger on his right might have lived,but the guy in the back probably died from the fall.
        The point is they shot first and Batman fired back.Now even if the Batmobile is bulletproof,that's still called self defense,but he didn't kill anyone point blank range in the film except for the Knightmare sequence.

        You know, what's funny is that we all kinda saw that coming. Remember 1.5 year ago they unveiled the Batmobile, and some were like, "Why the hell does it have machine guns?" The defense was, "Well, he'll probably shoot objects to get them out of the way, like Bale did on that motorcycle." We really couldn't have fathomed that he would actually unload those on people.

    Throughout his run in Batman and Robin he doesn't normally use one because Batman (both dick and Bruce) are against killing. Before he respected them he used a sword. Read Morrison's run instead of watching that shitty Son of Batman movie.
