Fans hoping to see an epic Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Super Bowl commercial this Sunday will be disappointed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. will not be spending the outrageous $5 million for a 30-second spot... but there's still hope!

While Warner Bros. hasn't bought an ad proper, it's possible a promotional partner could plug Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, in their spot, sources say. (Rival studios say they wouldn't be surprised if some of the cast were at the Super Bowl.)

Hopefully THR's sources are correct and we see Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Batman, and Superman pop up in a commercial one way or another!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has teamed up with Doritos for the Super Bowl this year. A contest was held last year and the winner will have their Doritos commercial shown during the big game, win $1,000,000, and get to work with Snyder on a future DC Comics movie.

      It's actually been the norm for them. I don't think they've had a single Super Bowl commercial since the Batman Begins one...

        I know.
        It's much smarter to release something online either during or just after the Super Bowl which is for free and they can still lift with the hype. Not that they have to, but they could.

        It goes on and on. I guess it's in our nature to seek enemies. And growing up does not help it. Come to think of it, growing up hasn't done anything good to me so far!

          Dudes relax, it's all in good fun. I support Marvel as well, I just prefer DC. The difference between 'pathetic' and good natured humor here is that I'm not posting this on pro-Marvel websites. Pathetic is going to those sites and stirring the pot. There's just no need.

      Well, they did kinda screw that last trailer they released, with some poor editing and weird choices like revealing Doomsday (if the trailer ended with that Superman scene saying "What have you done?" and then cut to black and we hear that Doomsday growl, then it would have ended perfectly), or not focusing on batman v superman, and instead show them teaming up. We all obviously knew it was coming, everyone that said it was a spoiler was just hating, but the trailer did mess up. I really hope they don't come out with any more trailers, maybe a couple more clips of dialogue scenes or something. I really want to watch the movie unspoiled, and I have 0 self control when it comes to trailers.

          Well, what's wrong with aknowledging it? We should be critical, not just accepting. I really want them to nail the Justice League's marketing, and while Man of Steel's was just awesome (brilliant trailers, great posters, etc) BvS's was simply mediocre. One good trailer, and one bad/mediocre.

        Doomsday is the final act in the movie. I mean obviously thats what it´s been building up to.

          its only the epilogue. Doomsday is the final showdown. Superman had also scenes after the Zod battle in MoS. But Doomsday is the final act. Anything else would just be dumb and defy any sense of reason. Of course there will be scenes after the battle. Did you really think the movie ends just abruptly? You have your showdown, then an epilogue and a setup for JL. And Doomsday is the showdown in this movie. I can guarantee that.

        Well I don't think the issue is that they revealed doomsday. We all know they were gonna team up . Every trailer marvel has shows the bad guys, even Star Wars shows the bad guys. The problem was that they showed batman, superman together. That what's wrong not them showing doomsday.

        That really does not lift my hopes one bit. Another act? That seems like a very crowded and fast-paced movie if you ask me (another act after Batman and Supes battle it out, befriend each other, and fight doomsday?)
        I couldn't be happier about Terrio writing the movie, though he didn't write the whole thing, unlike the JL movies, and I cannot wait for the movie, but it really is starting to look a bit crowded.
        Also, yeah, it had the batman v superman conflict, but it also showed their resolution, and while it wasn't a spoiler, it was just a very bad decision to include in the trailer, since we want to be teased, not showed what happens.

        Because nowhere in there did I ever write that the movie was spoiled, hell I even said it wasn't a spoiler the fact that they teamed up. You had that one already loaded in your shotgun, and you fired to the wrong guy, in the wrong circumstance.
        They simply released a bad trailer, and we shouldn't be blind to that fact just because we're fans. Fans should love it, and to love is to be able to criticize and want it to be better. The marketing for BvS has been surprisingly mediocre (which is odd since Zack Snyder, not the best filmmaker around, always has some of the best trailers for his movies, which is no wonder given he started out in commercials).

    It seems like it's not worth the money for the superbowl anymore. These past few years the commercials hype for the superbowl has really gone down. It'd be nice for that to turn around. So it'd be almost worth the money again lol

      For movies, it definitely is, since people usually like watching movie trailers, or at least aknowledge them, when they could probably miss them or something. It's the most watched sports (or anything really) event on the US by far.

      The pics they pick direclty from the movie like Batman without his cowl is so much better.

    It just occurred to me that they could have perfect synergy between the Doritos promotion and all the pot smoking in Legends of Tomorrow last week. Munchies anyone?

    And the commercial would go when there was precisely 4:20 to go in the first quarter.

    I thought this might be the year WB would actually take part in the Super Bowl ad-buying since BvS is much closer to the game than WB's usual summer superhero blockbusters, but they'll still be fine. $5 million is a lot to spend for a movie that everyone knows is coming out and has already been aggressively promoted throughout the NFL playoffs.

    why would anyone unnecessarily buy such a costly tv spot for a superhero movie like BvS? WB can release a trailer in the most uncommon, slowest site and still there will be some nerd like me who will dig it out. and it will the most viewed video within seconds.
