Warner Bros. to release 'Man of Steel' on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray this year

Ahead of CES 2016 (a big consumer electronics trade show in Las Vegas), Warner Bros. has announced that it will release over 35 movies on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray this year. The first titles released in this new super high-resolution format will be Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, The Lego Movie and Pan, but Man of Steel is specifically promised to be here in 4K by the end of the year.

Hopefully that means we can count on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice being released in 4K when it hits Blu-ray this summer, and Suicide Squad later this winter. For those with 4K TVs, it'd be awesome to be able to experience the DC Extended Universe in the best quality possible.

BURBANK, Calif. -- To coincide with the availability of Ultra HD Blu-ray™ players in the marketplace in early 2016, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be offering four titles on Ultra HD Blu-ray at initial launch showcasing 4K Ultra HD resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR), offering consumers a sharper, brighter and more colorful home entertainment viewing experience than ever before.
The first available titles will be Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, The Lego Movie and Pan. Following quickly will be theatrical new release titles available day and date with their initial home entertainment release as well as a selection of catalog titles throughout the year including Man of Steel and Pacific Rim. By the end of 2016, Warner Bros. will have over 35 titles available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. To complement the disc releases, Warner Bros. will also expand the titles available on 4K Ultra HD with HDR via digital retailers. Dolby Atmos® will also be included on select titles for a truly immersive home theater experience.

Warner Bros.' Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs will feature 4K resolution, High Dynamic Range for enhanced picture vibrancy and color contrast, a wider range of available colors, smoother color transitions, and immersive audio on select titles.

Man of Steel is art and as for me it is my favourite superhero movie of all time followed closely by Watchmen. Snyder will bring a great Batman, which we didn't have since Keaton.

    It really sucks that Nolan isn't good at doing sequels :(
    Batman Begins was great but I was kinda disappointed in Dark Knight and even more TDKRises. For most people, The Dark Knight was the best of that trilogy THANKS to Heath Ledger's epic work on Joker, even tho he was far from the comic book version (Nicholson remains my favourite Joker).
    To me, he's the one that made the whole movie look good.

      Well Begins brought the most about "origins". I don't understand why Nolan went from a Batman Begins, who was close to comics, to Dark Knight who had nothing to do with the comics anymore.
      Afleck should do "Batman - Year One" as his first Batman reboot movie.

      The thing is... Wouldn't there be way too much to show? I believe they're going for more than 2 Batman movies. We'll see what happens when the time comes. What I want from a Batman movie, is more of Gotham (especially its villains), to show us how rotten it is but above all, it's the freaking 'Court of Owls' story! Scott Snyder <3
      Which reminds me I have to continue reading the books.
      Paused Batman, Justice League, & The Flash to read Aquaman, Constantine, & Superman.

      Both of you should really learn that the quality of a movie has nothing to do to whether or not the movie is close to it's source material. Nolan never tried to make a faithful adaptation. He is a visionary filmmaker and he put his own vision into Batman, thus creating his own universe.
      Just because it wasn't exactly like the comic books, it doesn't mean it was bad. In fact, that's one of the reasons why the movies were so great, and why The Dark Knight is better than pretty much any other comic book movie (though it is debatable, since Spider-Man 2, Superman the Movie and The Incredibles are brilliant super hero movies in their own right).

  Yes, Man of Steel is the most epic superhero movie so far and the best Superman as well. Finally a actor playing a superhero that is better than their predecessors. We've yet to see someone beat Keaton but I believe Affleck will.
  BUT! As for Ryan Reynolds GL, it'll be hard. Ryan Reynold did a nice Hal Jordan, and I'm not talking about GL movie but about the actor acting as Hal Jordan.

    - Well, yes. MoS & Watchmen are the best superhero movies I've seen so far and I've seen them all. Growing in a family with a comicnerd as father, had to become one myself. Why? Which superhero movie you see as the best so far?
    - Really? I wonder if you saw the BvS trailer. Batman jumping on Superman, Batman fighting a dozen soldiers, Batman grappling with sick agility. Whatever, right?
    - I believe Ryan Reynolds portrayed a good Hal Jordan but it might be because he was the only Hal Jordan we got to see on screen.
    Can't say anything about BvS or Deadpool so far because they have yet to come out. So far from the trailers:
    - BvS looks epic and just like a Youtuber I like to watch (Jae Roar) said:
    "The comic books, you read em then you visualise em and that's what it looks like." And that's exactly how comic book movies are supposed to be.
    - Deadpool seem like a really fun movie (just like the comics). I just hope they wont exaggerate with sequels (1 sequel would be enough) for it because it might ruin it. Just feature him in other Marvel/FOX movies.

      I like your choices. Yes Burton's Batman were great, that's what I keep saying to everyone coming with Nolan's Batman to my face.
      I'd rather wait for the movie to come out before confirming anything like you do.
      It's like saying "Momoa sucks as Aquaman!"... right?
      Although you could confirm these on Disney's Marvels XD
      Makes me wanna rewatch "X-Men: First Class" thinking about Marvel.

      Damn, dog. I actually thought you were debating for a second, but no.
      Sure, it is your opinion, but Origins was a bad movie. Besides being incredibly rushed and terribly written and directed (just look at the writer and director's credits, for further examples), it has little to no development of it's characters, it's boring almost all the way through, has cringeworthy special effects unbecoming of a 2009 blockbuster, and besides shitting on almost every comic book character featured in the movie, it offered probably the worst possible explanation for Wolverine's memory problems (at least they wiped Wolverine's memory with their computers and shit in the comic books, not with a vibranium bullet to the head which should have done jackshit). It was a very shallow movie and that's my point. You can like it, but having that movie as an example? Dude, I laughed.

    ROFL yeah no Batman actually really fights and does acrobatics. The problem is using this in a movie knowing lots of the audience are complete strangers to the comics, they'd find it weird because they have no idea about the origins of his training and all, which was a good point brought up by frankylo...ows but, getting so much origin, I believe it'd be way too hard to fit in a movie. If only Gotham didn't blow out of proportion like it did because of its fear of cancellation.
    But I believe we'll see Batman fight like in the Arkham games (I FREAKING HOPE SO!!!!). Just imagine the thing! Breaking bones, increased speed, agilty, one hit KO, ... OMG I'm drooling only by thinking about it. CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER DARN IT!!!

      "ROFL yeah no Batman actually really fights and does acrobatics." ITA; Bill Finger was captioning him as "the AcroBatman" way back in the Golden Age. But the laws of motion don't apply on the printed page, and they don't have to apply in animation and games, but they do apply - and it sticks out like a sore thumb if, thanks to CGI, they don't - when you're using actual human beings in the physical world. That's my point; the things he does in the comics can't actually work in the real world, and live-action movies have to compromise on that. That's what Moore was getting at with the Dollar Bill mention in Watchmen, where his cape got caught in the revolving door of the bank and the robbers killed him.
