Marvel pays tribute to The Dark Knight Returns with Old Man Logan #1 cover

It looks like the folks over at Marvel are big fans of DC Comics, specifically Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns".

A variant cover for the upcoming Wolverine book "Old Man Logan #1" clearly pays tribute to the classic Batman story. As the saying goes... imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Fun trivia:
the books writer Jeff Lemire is a former DC writer, who wrote some really successful runs on books like Green Arrow and Justice League United in recent years. Particularly his Green Arrow run was widely praised. He is also the current writer of Marvels new Extraordinary X-Men series.
the artist of the variant cover that is mentioned in the solicitation, Mike Deodato is one of my most favorite artists who has previously worked on Spider-Man, Avengers, Dark Avengers, Hulk, Elektra and Wonder Woman. He is the current artist on Marvels Star Wars comic series as well.

  Actually the artist for this piece is Andrea Sorrentino, the artist Lemire was partnered with for his Green Arrow run.

    hm yeah I suspected so. Actually this is the regular cover not the variant cover by Deodato. I guess I was confused bc Chris wrote that this is the variant cover.
