The new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer that was released last week was met with mixed reactions. Some fans loved it, but others didn't. They felt that it gave too much away by showing Doomsday, that it was edited oddly, and that showing Batman and Superman team up was an odd marketing choice.

A fan named Kevin O'Fee shared those criticisms, and re-edited a version of the trailer that he titled "fixed" on YouTube. O'Fee's cut moves some key scenes around, and excludes others completely. In just a few days, it's been viewed nearly half a million times. Check it out above, and then watch the official trailer below. Which cut do you prefer? Let me know in the comments below!

    Honestly i don't know what all the fuss is about! The original trailer was the best one yet! How can you cut Jesse Eisenberg's dialogue when this trailer was meant to give us an idea as to what kind of a Lex Luthor he was going to be! And do you people really believe that the fact whether batman and superman were going to friends or not was a mystery?! No it wasn't! if you have a genetically evolved Kryptonian villain fighting against you you're gonna have to team up? how else do you think justice league would be formed?!

    P.S - For those people who think that the trailer revealed too much, why don't you succumb to what you've been claiming! why don't you guys just drop the idea to see the movie because apparently now we know the whole movie! #badpublicitymyass

    Well you either get surprised now by knowing they'll team up or in theater, I think WB did right by doing it this way. Otherwise we would've found out about Doomsday via some crappy toy or something. I much prefer finding out this way than that way.

      He confirmed others things in the panel:
      - Lex Luthor will appear in others movies;
      - The Batman armor was made by Bruce and Alfred;
      - BvS is 8 month after MoS;
      - Aquaman has two costumes.

    I don't get what all the fuss with the reveal is about. It's also not as if this is the only movie that reveals much in it's trailer. 99% of the movies coming out have too much trailers to keep any secrets. If I don't want to know too much I don't click on a trailer. If people do not like it because of odd editing choice than I can understand it but the reveals? Come on...

      Honestly, some people will complain no matter what. If they don't show enough in the trailer or if they try to hide plot points that everyone already knew, these same fans would be butt hurt about them pulling a Khan job. It's pathetic. Some 'fans' just want to watch the world burn.

    If Snyder had the final say on the "Trailer 2", it's more than troubling, it wreaks of desperation! Far too much was given away, I feel like it might've been as much as 90% of the story! What were they thinking?!?

      I would liken the official trailer to a traditional entree served at a steakhouse. When the plate arrives, you see all of the standard ingredients in front of you, but you have no idea what all of the little details are that went into the preparation (spices, methods, quality of products, etc.). There is so much more to a plate of food than just the presentation.

      Yeah, we see what many would consider too much, but we're only seeing three minutes of a two-and-a-half-hour movie.

        I respectfully agree. This isn't rocket surgery, it's a movie, and I simply feel this trailer (as with most) was unnecessary and revealed too much.

        There is no doubt that walking into a theater without knowing what's in store is far more exciting than having the Cliff Notes and a map to the conclusion.

        Unless it's a fake?...

    Sigh... I guess I have to resign myself to the reality that some in the the fanboy community have started to care more about the marketing than the actual movies.

    The spoilers don't bug me so much. The humor on the other hand... Someone on AICN said they were surprised there wasn't a needle scratch effect when Wonder Woman pops in and they look at eachother. It kinda ruins the dark gritty mood they've been setting us up for.

    Also don't care for the look of Doomsday. Would being closer to the original design be such a bad thing? He literally looks like they pulled him out of a video game.

      A movie can have both humor and grit. Most audiences expect that. My main concern with the first two trailers is that they would scare away squeamish mainstream moviegoers with their (righteous) brooding intensity. This new trailer shows a different dimension to a very big, very complex movie. I like that.

      Remember when the DK trailer ended with Alfred's "much more subtle" joke? Ending a trailer on a humorous note is blockbuster trailer making 101. I'm sorry some rando on AICN said something.

      If I remember correctly, Doomsday has morphing abilities? If so, his look seems right for a freshly produced Luthor's monster, and as he gets pummeled, his spikes will grow and his face will change.

      And with that heat vision, it seems like the writers were adding a bit of Bizarro into Doomsday for added difficulty? Not sure. We'll find out soon enough.

        The design looks like a mashup of Zod and Doomsday, which it is.

          True. That's what I was meaning with "Bizarro" since Zod was as close to Superman as anything else.

          I'm mainly wondering what Lex does to Zod to get him into Doomsday territory.

        when Doomsday was created on ancient Krypton he already looked like classic Doomsday long before he ever faced Superman. he also has no optic blast ability. This Doomsday looks more like the character Wraith actually who has fought against Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in the Superman Unchained series

    I understand why people are complaining here and there about the trailer. I personally think the trailers should have kept the focus on Batman and Superman's conflict and let the other stiff be a surprise. Though as a fan I already know it'll resolve itself and we would see them unite in the end. So when it shows that shot of the trinity the only thing i think is "That's AWESOME"! Zack Snyder puts out really good trailers most of the time so I have faith that this won't reveal too much in the scope of the movie. I hope that this movie is really good. Hopefully Doomsday isn't just fan service and they bring him down in a three minute fight.

    Chris sorry this is off-topic but I need to bring something to your notice.

    The shield with the Wonder Woman figure at the ccxp suggests some kind of cloaking invisibility ability. Unlike the accessories that come with the other figures only WW's shield is made out of a translucent material.

      the toy added the V too niiiice. bVs is gonna be insane. I cant believe I'm almost more excited about WW in a batman superman movie... maybe its the azzarello run (im only two books in but have the rest) or maybe it's Gal but I can't wait

    Have people rewatched trailers for other comic book movies that have been released? All of them give the basic three-act structure of the film and reveal the major villains and big action scenes. That's how trailers work. That's how studios sell tickets to more than us fanatics. It doesn't 'ruin' the movie. The only time people seem to complain about a trailer/marketing once they've seen the movie is if they felt misled (Star Trek Into Darkness or AoU) or if the movie was kept too inscrutable and underperformed at the box office (Interstellar or Super 8). I totally understand the emotional response some fans are having. I also recognize the sad reality of trolls on the Internet. Just have some perspective.

    Oh, also Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman (spoiler alert: and more!) are all in the same movie together. Squeeeeee!!!!! It's the dawn of mother f'ing justice, people. The hype is real.

      Neat detail. Also, looks like Gotham is dumping pollution into the ocean. Someone is going to be pissed! I would reveal who, because apparently we aren't supposed to acknowledge who ends up in the Justice League.

    I, for one, am very excited for the 2 1/2-hour trailer that'll be released next year!

    The re-cut was fine, and it did make sense in marketing terms, but, SHIT!, was that official trailer just boner-enducing.

    Also, I noticed in the quick cut of Lex right before Doomsday comes out that Superman was in the background. And that Superman statue is DEFINITELY a memorial what with all of the flowers on the ground around it and some people moping about.

    I think the official trailer raised all of the questions instead of spoiled anything at all. "Why this? Why that? What's going on with that? What's going on with this?" Everything in it is so vague that absolutely nothing was "spoiled." Although, I will say that Wonder Woman's entrance should've been saved for the theatre. The roar from the crowd upon her arrival (which will probably happen anyway) would've been fun.

      Too bad I can only upvote this once :/ I'm getting already tired of this "did they show too much discussion", especially because there is so much awesome stuff already dropped in the trailer that is worth much more discussion. It is such a negative way of looking at something that is, although meaningless in the big scheme of things, worth celebrating.

          I also keep thinking about an interview with the screenwriter for Apollo13. How to make an exciting movie about something everybody knows how it will end? His reply was great and basically came down to the same: it is never the actions that define a great story but the way characters react and their relations. I think that this will make BvS an interesting movie, not because of Doomsday aka Punching Bag but because of the ideological argument Bruce and Kal El are having.

            Right on, that's so true. Doomsday is just a punching bag! I'm so glad they're not wasting an entire movie on him. He serves his purpose well, but c'mon, it's always about why Doomsday is created and how he is defeated that is interesting.

            I'm starting to suspect there are just some willfully stupid people out there that don't understand a movie is more than a 'story.' It's characters and emotions and themes and plot and setting. Those things aren't 'ruined' when we know that a movie follows a basic three-act structure that 90% of all movies follow.

            For me a big question is what side of the ideological divide will Diana fall on?

            "Is she with you?" "I thought she was with you?"

            So much subtext throughout the trailer, but here's an example where the characters are speaking literally, but also asking "who does Wonder Woman stand with" in this ideological divide. (And yes, it's an ideological argument, which is why it's B v S and not B vs S.)

      Interestingly enough, the trailer to his most famous movie, Psycho, never revealed the identities of the villain, or any of the characters for that matter.

        It actually gives away a lot of the movie. Hitchcock turned that trailer into a joke.

        But that would be an example of a movie where the 'twist' is the highlight of the film, as the quote makes an exception for.

          The trailer was done way back when trailers actually trailed the movies...but nevertheless, since it didn't use actual scenes from the movie, it was done describing the themes in very general terms, so it didn't spoil the movie in any substantive way.

            Um, sure thing. Watch that trailer again. It gives away most of the story including the shower scene, the mother, the murder on the staircase. It's a hilarious trailer. Hitchcock wanted people to know these murders were going to take place before they saw the movie. That is what was suspenseful. Waiting for it to happen and seeing how it happens.

            Also, back then movies used to show on repeat throughout an entire day. People would buy a ticket, enter the theater and just start watching it wherever it was in the story. Then they'd stay until the movie started over and they'd watch the movie up until the point that they had walked in. It really didn't matter because they all knew the stories before they bought a ticket anyway. It is what it is. I'm not sure why it's so important for you to deny basic film theory or history.

            You haven't quoted basic film theory anywhere, so I don't know why you'd say I'm denying it. Anyways, you can clearly see in the trailer Hitchcock literally teased the audience in the real sense of the word; he left many sentences incomplete before revealing major plot points. His idea was to whet people's appetite for curiosity by starting to describe scenes and suddenly stopping to move on to something else..truly brilliant stuff. But he only teased the murders, as any horror movie does still to the day. The main draw was finding out who was committing them and why, but he never revealed those details like WB revealed the origin of Doomsday.

            K. You're the one that is judging a movie that hasn't even been released yet, based on some wild assumptions and your own personal bias. That's fine.

            I thought the Hitchcock quote I posted and the examples I provide was pretty clear and relevant to the discussion.

            Hitchcock reveals the details of the two murders in Psycho, even showing you where they take place and how they go down. That doesn't ruin the suspense of the movie. That doesn't lessen the impact of the shower scene or the famous jump scare on the staircase. In fact, it actually adds to the suspsense, because we already know the basic outline of what's going to happen. That's the point of the Hitchcock quote I posted, which I suspect you probably understand better than you are letting on.

            If you think the reveal of Doomsday is as important to this movie as the reveal of Mother's real identity in Psycho... Maybe you're right. I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't say for sure. But based on common sense and general knowledge of how these things go, I don't think you're right.

            Do you really think the reveal or origin of Doomsday is the 'main draw' of Batman v Superman?

            I don't know if the audience considers it the "main draw", but it's definitely one of the bigger plot devices, presumably the threat that brings the titular "Dawn of Justice" to the fore.
