Chris Pine confirms 'Wonder Woman' casting and reveals what he's most excited about

French website Premiere.fr caught up with Chris Pine at a promotional event for his upcoming movie The Finest Hours. Over the summer it was reported that Pine closed a deal to star with Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor. Pine confirmed the casting news and talked about how excited he is to work on a female superhero movie. Here's a very rough translation via Google Translate, with a little clean up by me:

"I do not really know what I'm allowed to tell you", told us Chris. "I'm super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will direct, and we will shoot in film ... Would make no sense, Lynda Carter is American, Gal is Israeli. As much as I love Lynda Carter and think she should be involved to some extent, I'm not sure she'd be able to pull of an authentic Mediterranean accent as (well, I hope) would be expected for this role.

  Last I knew, Paradise Island was multicultural. And depending on the origin they use, Diana's a mix.
  Also, Carter's father is of English and Scots-Irish ancestry while her mother is of Mexican, Spanish and French descent. So yeah, "American" but only in the sense that she comes from the same kind of melting pot that Themiscera is made up of.
  Not to mention she looks like Hippolyta.

Hippolyta should not be much older than Diana. The Amazons do not age, and Lynda Carter is 64 years old. She could play another smaller role as a kind of tribute or something.

I remember when Michelle Mclaren left as director there were rumours that she wanted to make a massive adventure and WB didn't want that. People said WB wasn't giving Wonder Woman the film budget she deserves, but I think this disproves that.

      SOME of the action sequences were shot in IMAX. Snyder himself pointed out which ones in the first teaser were shot in native IMAX and it wasn't all of them. And Nolan shot some dialogue scenes in Interstellar with IMAX. It's clear you have no idea what you're saying. There's no confirmation that Suicide Squad was shot with IMAX either.

Chris Evans went from Johnny Storm to Captain America, so it's not completely out of the question. I suppose it'll really depend on if they're planning to re-use Steve Trevor in later films or not. I agree though, he'd make an awesome Hal.

    Behind the scenes they are doing something really big to connect these movies and I can't wait till it's revealed everyone working on these films keeps hinting at it and telling us to wait. I do believe its not just a marketing tool. There is something that will make these movies big no matter how bad(or hopefully good) of a writer he is. I just really wish I knew the gist of it because I'm going mad thinking of all the possibilities now I know what happened to that guy from total spoiler who went full beautiful mind on us. I can't envision these things anymore because I hated everything about BVS during it early stages but I've been shut up by how good it looks. I hope the same happens with this movie and all the others. I'm not sold on gal but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I really hope Sean bean and Eva Green are apart of this movie. It looks like DC is going to pull off the whole magical side of it's universe, enchantress looks awesome.

      yeah. the connections among dceu movies are huge, since man of steel there are loads of easter eggs. a guy who works on wb said on twitter yesterday that enchantress will make raven possible, starfire will come from another dimension, robin will obviously come from batman and they will be all on cyborg movie, maybe they change the title of this to teen titans, and probably introduce beast boy during the movie. who knows possibilities.

Even though his Wonder Woman is clearly going to end up shagging The Batman, I'm sure Pine will be a decent Steve Trevor. But is this movie SECRETLY casting people! A rumored Batman cameo, with rumored villains and settings. That's it?! WTF?! Hippolyta, Artemis, and other Wonder Woman supporting characters, should have been officially cast by now! Hopefully this movie will start getting some real traction, in the next couple of weeks!

I don't think Batman will have a big role. I imagine he'll show up at the end to recruit WW to the JL(A?). The only other character I could see being cast would be Hippolyta played by Lynda Carter. They start filming next month, so I'm sure they have everyone cast, but keeping the details hushed up for future promo opportunities.

This isn't the only time he's dissed on DC. He did it last year too. I fucking hate this b*tch so much. Most marvel movies are corny, childish, colourful, artless, cliche'd, glib and formulaic. DC started the Superhero genre with Superman and Superman 2. Then introduced more darker themes with Batman the movie. The Dark Knight is the top superhero movie of all times, and TDK T is the top superhero trilogy of all time. What has marvel achieved? Nothing. Even the idea of a cinematic universe isn't really new, and they didn't come up with it. There would be no Marvel without DC back when they were created, not to mention most marvel characters are DC-rip offs. Man of Steel was freaking awesome, and if this piece of shit can't accept that MOST people actually liked it, he should STFU. Zack Snyder makes ONE iffy comment about a Marvel movie (what he ssaid IS true btw), and Sebastian Stan and Anthony Faggie lose their shit. Not to mention this isn't the first time a marvel actor has taken shots at DC *cough cough* RDJ, SLJ, Chris Hemsworth, and even Stan Lee himself.

    Oh, I thought it had been confirmed Terrio helped out with the WW script. But I get what you're saying. Since WW will first be introduced in BvS, Zack Snyder and not Patty Jenkins decided her origin, and all the related mythology. Jenkins will only follow what Zack did, not to mention he's producing as well. I'm just worried about Jason Fusch's script tho...two movies he's written and both have rotten scores.

Don't get me wrong, I love that Chris is casted as Steve. But just imagine if it were Tom Cruise in his place. Having Steve be a foot shorter than Diana would've made for a funny dynamic.

Chris Pine is too big of a star and leading man to just play a love interest

What if...just what if...

The casting of Pine in Wonder Woman is really just a mirage for his casting as Hal Jordan. And somehow he will be revealed in the film as Hal Jordan catching all of us off guard.

I mean with the way DC and WB have mapped out everything there is no way that they are clueless on who their Green Lantern(s) is/are. I will say with confidence that Green Lantern has either already been cast or they have a good idea who their guy is and are just withholding the information from the public.

Maybe I am completely wrong on this and all of this is just wishful thinking but I think Pine will be ultimately revealed as our Hal Jordan.
