The December issue of Total Film magazine reveals that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice features a Bruce Wayne prologue to set up his hatred towards Superman.
The movie takes place about two years after the events of Man of Steel, and features scenes from Bruce Wayne's point of view during the big Superman vs. General Zod battle from that movie. Parts of this scene were in the latest trailer, but Henry Cavill spoke more about it to Total Film:
"What happens there is one of Bruce's buildings gets destroyed and he's trying to save all the people inside the building and he's can't. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this superpowered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?"
Ben Affleck also hinted that Batman is somewhat of a villain in the movie, as he explained the rage he has against Superman.
"One of the interesting things about Batman is he functions in some ways as an antagonist: you have to remember, this is Batman versus Superman. He's found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it's how he got there, and what that's done to him, and what that's done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It's something that's interesting and new."
Producer Charles Roven explained that Ben Affleck's Batman is "jaded" and "darkened" by his long crime-fighting career. He's tougher and different, and he's not against using "questionable methods" to keep the Gotham City clean. He's also still a vigilante who's wanted by the police, Roven explained.
Ben Affleck is going to be one badass Batman! This definitely sounds like a Batman we haven't seen on screen before. Check out all of the coverage from the new Total Film issue here.
