on Stunning 'Batman v Superman' concept art revealed in new video

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice costumes are on display once again at NYCC this weekend, and DC All Access caught up with costume designer Michael Wilkinson to talk all about them.

Wilkinson gives insight into how and why the costumes look the way that they do. He also touches on some mandates from director Zack Snyder. There's even awesome concept art that pops up throughout the interview. Check out the video above for more.

I've also added a gallery below of screencaps of the concept art. There's even a new image of Ben Affleck as Batman that hasn't been officially released online until now!

    I've been hoping for this since I saw the way his cape folded over his shoulders in the initial costume reveal images. Always liked how it does that in the comics and animated series and movies. Makes him look very bat-like and majestic.

    The concept art with Wonder Woman and her Cloak has me confused. Is it old? as in not the final design? Since everything we've seen with Wonder Woman from the physical costume and figures she has her Shield and no cloak and these all have a cap and no shield. I wonder if they decided that they wanted the Shield so they'd go without the cloak. I think the cloak is epic and I hope it makes an appearance in either this film or her solo one.

      The cloak's probably removable as there was other concepts too without it.

    The first time i've ever see concept art look worse than what it actually came out to look like, and thats a good thing. The costumes in this movie are honestly the best I've ever seen in any comic book movie.

    Just got home from Comic Con the suits are pretty much EXACTLY these pieces of concept Art. The only real difference is the S on Superman.

      Not sure which Joker figure you're talking about. I saw a set of Dark Knight statues from Sideshow collectibles that were stunning.

        If he was there I didn't notice him. And I'm pretty certain I would have noticed. Here's a picture of Lex and a potentially spoilery sign on the Batman figure. As far as I can recall the only things under these figures in the case were the Batman V Superman caps with the Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman logos etc.

      Haha. I like the trunks, as it gives a color break and keeps it from looking monotonous, but it definitely works better on the printed page than in reality. The opposite with seams and piping: looks cool in person, but way too busy in a comic.

        If the belt had been a darker yellow or gold it may have worked, but that red just doesn't look right.

    Cool thing about Bats is he's a well established character in this universe. Not to mention human, so a change in uniform dependent on his circumstances would be normal. Just look at the desert Batman. Imagine a frozen tundra batman, or cosmic batman... those garbs could be awesome!

    Superman can't really do much. Its not like they sent over a kryptonian fashion designer to explain suit changes.

    WW could have some pretty dope outfit changes but I don't see much difference happening.

      Pretty much this. Superman and Wonder Woman's initial costumes are timeless. Unless Superman can salvage some Kryptonian sewing machine, he's stuck with what he's got with the exception of some minor aesthetic changes as we see in the new costume. WW I suppose could go to Hephaestus for some new armor/duds. If he's will to help that is.

        I really do hope he has his fortress of solitude in BvS and the rest of the DCEU movies. The scout ship though, seemed fried after he heat visioned the control core unless that just took the flight controls out in which case he can still carry it back to Antartica and repair it to become operational again.

        but they have already outfitted her with everything. She has her lasso, bracelets, a sword, shield and spear. what else do they give her... new body armor? (that's not a bad idea, actually)

          I mean for example, if Darkseid is in Justice League 1 or 2, I could see Snyder wanting to give her a badass, Amazon war armor set. That'd be pretty cool to follow Gal Gadot's WW to where Hephaestus resides and works where she requests a suit of armor that will stand up to a god none of them are familiar with (Darkseid). Those Omega beams can do some real damage lol.
