Dave Gibbons' "Dark Knight III" variant cover revealed [update: even more!]

One image might not typically warrant its own post, but this one's pretty big: Dave Gibbons, industry legend and artist of Watchmen, "For the Man Who Has Everything," and countless other titles has drawn a variant cover for The Dark Knight III: The Master Race.

The image is, of course, an homage to this iconic panel from TDKR:

Are you guys looking forward to this release, or just wanting to check it out due to curiosity?

The first issue hits stands November 25th.

The variant cover looks great; but lately I've been noticing that Batman looks a bit too slim. The Batman from the dark knight returns is huge, bulky and just monstrous.

In Strikes Again he's pretty lean, but a lot of that may have had to do with how Miller's style had evolved over the years.

    Janson on inks. You can see his influence is heavy on the first issue but it becomes less evident as the book goes on.

    I've been rereading it for academic purposes (i.e. to prep for DK3). The introduction of the Atom was kind of cool, and the use of the Kandorians was at least neat in theory, but... yeah, that's about it.

Well with all these variations of covers, there better be some actual substance behind the actual comic. Such amazing art work shouldn't go to waste if Miller relapses into All Star Batman and Robin territory.
