18 things revealed in the 'Batman v Superman' issue of Empire that no one's talking about

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice issue of Empire Magazine is on sale today, but I had the pleasure of reading the iPad edition last night. There's lots of great info that I've covered on Batman News, from new images and interviews with Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder, to the blueprint for the DC Extended Universe, and details about the Batmobile, Batcave, and production design. But there's lots more info that no one is really talking about. In this article I'm going to share some interesting bits of news that were sprinkled in the great Empire piece.

Zack Snyder, his producer wife Deborah, and producer Charles Roven are overseeing the entire DC Extended Universe.
Zack Snyder has a whiteboard in his office with the entire DCEU sketched out.
Wonder Woman begins filming this fall in London.
Justice League begins filming Spring 2016.
Pre-production for Justice League has already begun.
Ben Affleck picked out his own Bruce Wayne hairstyle for the movie, despite Deborah Snyder not being a fan of it initially.
Ben Affleck wears a wig in the movie for his Bruce Wayne hairstyle.
Batman is 45 or 46 in the movie, according to Zack Snyder.
Batman has already met Joker, Harley Quinn, and the rest of the Suicide Squad. He's the reason they're all in prison.
Batman carries a machine gun at one point in the movie.
Bruce Wayne lives in a lake house that Snyder and company call the "Glasshouse". Wayne Manor still stands, but has been abandoned.
Clark Kent and Lois Lane live together in an apartment.
A Detroit museum was used to film scenes at Lex Luthor's house.
Deborah Snyder cried when Gal Gadot first stepped onto the set as Wonder Woman.
Five actresses auditioned for the role of Wonder Woman opposite Ben Affleck, but it was Gal Gadot who blew everyone in the room away.
Wonder Woman's role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is key to shifting the story towards Justice League.
It was Zack Snyder's idea to put Batman in his follow-up movie to Man of Steel.
Zack Snyder admits that Christopher Nolan was "taken aback" when he told him he wanted to reinterpret Batman alongside Superman, but he's fully supportive.

It's the gist of what I got from the trailer - the place where he keeps the suits (incl. the Robin one) seemed too small to be the Batcave, and with Wayne Manor seemingly destroyed, I figured he just moved somewhere else after retirement.

Hes got hair, why not use hair dye? It's because Affleck probably didn't want to compromise his hair... weak.

Its the same hair color. It was probably be a texture change. Some types of hair cant do certain styles. So for instance he might have hair that has issues being slicked back, and thats the style he wanted. I dont even think its a full wig. More like extensions like Evans uses for Cap.

Fascinating information.

Very pleased to see the production of the Wonder Woman film being underway for the fall (which should make WW fans happy); as well as the JL film for spring. Can't wait to see the final product of those films when they both release in 2017. ^_^

An interesting thing to think about Suicide Squad is, if the car scene (with Joker and Harley) is a flashback when Batman beats the Joker to the point that Joker loses most of his teeth, than the scene where Joker says "I'm not gonna kill you..." isn't while he's turning Harleen Quinzel into Harley Quinn (which many thought), because in the car scene she's already made that transition. The trailer does make it seem like the Joker is talking to Harley, yet the shot where she's tied to a table she looks like she is either dressed normally or she hasn't become Harley Quinn yet. Or perhaps he isn't talking to her at all.

Presuming that Joker and Batman's history is a long one, as per comics, then there was plenty of time for Batman to knock some Joker teeth out before he broke out of Arkham and tortured Harleen.

Five actresses auditioned for the role of Wonder Woman opposite Ben Affleck, but it was Gal Gadot who blew everyone in the room away.

I know some of the names, but does anyone have the complete list? I still wish Gina Carano had been cast as Wonder Woman. She's not a great actress, but she's not horrible either. I can't help but think that the real reason she wasn't considered is because was in a relationship with Henry Cavill. That would've been awkward to have to do several movies with your ex.

Carano had her lines dubbed in by another actress for a movie she was in a couple years ago. She's not a convincing lead actress. Just because she looks badass doesn't mean it wouldn't have sucked with her as Wonder Woman.

I don't understand the part in the trailer where Batman is dressed in the desert outfit with a coat and goggles where he is being dragged by the Superman soldiers and he snaps a soldier's neck? Does this relate to the "Superman: Red Son" story, sorry I haven't read it lol. I thought Batman had a "no kill" rule, is the new Batman a more ruthless vigilante or...?

It's currently unclear if this Batman does or doesn't kill. It is also unclear whether the decision to kill, if he does, is a recent one or one dating back to the start of his career as Batman. Personally, I'm not certain he kills, at least not on purpose. A broken neck does not necessarily mean instant death(read here if you'd like: http://boards.straightdope.... and there's no telling who was flying the Batwing in the first trailer since the mangled cockpit is seen behind Wonder Woman in the second trailer before she reenacts the "Mjolnir hits Cap's shield" scene on her own. I think that if this version of the Batman were a killer, there would not BE a Joker to be in Suicide Squad.

Actually, lex's house wasn't shot at a museum in Detroit. They shot it in Lansing Michigan! I should know -I was on top of a nerby parking structure with a pair of binoculars watching them. :)

Well...if Zack makes Batman a killer, he's far from the first filmmaker to do so. Personally, I think that the description of Batman carrying a machine gun is actually referring to the grenade launcher introduced at SDCC and seen as an accessory to the armored Batman figures which leads me to believe that it is used in his fight against Superman. http://news.toyark.com/wp-c... If you just glance at it, it looks like a machine gun.

I have no problem with these new movies. I just wish at some point we could get a series of Batman movies or a Batman TV show that takes place right, smack dab in the middle of his career in his prime with the bat-family and full roster of villains. It's something we just haven't had before outside of The Animated Series.
