Ben Affleck: Superman was responsible for Wayne Enterprises employee deaths in 'Man of Steel'

Man of Steel's ending was somewhat controversial with critics and fans pointing out that Superman and General Zod killed a lot of people during their battle through Metropolis. In fact, director Zack Snyder confirmed that about 5,000 people probably died that day.

In an extended online interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ben Affleck talks about how Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will focus on the Man of Steel ending, and even reveals the real reason why Batman may have a problem with Superman.

“One of the things I liked was Zack’s idea of showing accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings,” says Affleck. “And in fact, one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne’s building so he knew people who died in that Black Zero event.”

It's all starting to come together! The fact that Superman's actions resulted in dead Wayne Enterprises employees will likely make this fight very personal for Batman. I guess you could take it as a mini-spoiler, which ought to help you decide if that's the kind of info you're willing to 'risk' for enjoying this site. Why is it click bait?

I want all GoT actors in the DCEU. Charles Dance, Emilia Clarke, Carice Van Houten, Richard Madden, Conleth Hill, Aiden Gillen (technically already was in TDKR), Ewon Rheon, Maisie Williams, Lena Headey (may actually be a chance there given she's worked with Zack), gah they'd all be too good.

Another example of BS journalism: "Batman v Superman's buzz to date has been a more mercurial thing, with some comic book fans unhappy with the tone of the trailer and, more importantly, the tone of Man of Steel. Even with a blow-out presentation, it's possible that enough of the audience will be turned off enough to spoil the buzz as it spills out from the show."

Of course the article ends this way:

Typical of modern day American journalism. The actual story (of course WB is going to dominate Comic Con) isn't very dramatic, so they need to go out of their way to artificially create suspense and controversy.
When you see words like "it's possible" used in such a dramatic fashion, it's obvious what is going on. After all, it's possible that enough of the audience will be deaf mute toddlers enough to ruin the buzz from the presentation. It's possible! Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion. Meanwhile, keep those clicks coming.

You know what I love about Ben's comments on this? "Two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person." As in he's PRETENDING to be playboy Bruce. This Bruce Wayne will thankfully maintain one of my favourite parts of Batman, which is that Bruce Wayne is the charade, and Batman the real man.

So BASICALLY, Zack Snyder's knows what the hell he's doing. LOL

I like the little shot that Snyder took at the Avengers movies. The death toll in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue to get ignored, because of the lighter and innocent tone of their films. You gotta be extra careful with Batman and Superman, or else the fanboys will riot. I'll assume that a more experienced Batfleck, will make sure that the battle takes place far away from civilians.

I didn't hear if it was mentioned that it was the building at the end where some employees of Wayne Enterprises were killed by Superman's battle with Zod, or if the entire building was destroyed. Another reason Batman can be very angry is that Superman shared that he reached out through a tracking signal, but didn't realize his dad's warning as a hologram from the codec of danger by doing that such as if Zod is still around where Superman can be naïve, and can he totally be trusted as he still hasn't developed his belief system. Superman can become sort of an idealist but with the bad past of Krypton and his superior knowledge capacity this could lead to possible problems or like in two alternate realities that I mention. It could also lead to the Tower of Babel storyline where Batman has that power hungry nature to where he computes how to destroy all of the Justice League members and many supervillains but outside of his usual means, but he also had lots of good intentions with it. Ra's is the one that unleashes Batman's Tower of Babel program from Batman's computer in the Bat Cave. They were talking about how Batman is showing some signs of psychopathy apart of losing it because of the fear of the destruction of his company and possibly the destruction of the world. I see that Batman is also a narcissist sociopath that always has to be number 1, and if someone else is number 1 he doesn't like that which were issues with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Tim Drake stayed more in a helping role to where because he's not as good as the other two it didn't get on Bruce Wayne's nerves. Jean-Paul Valley reminded Bruce Wayne of himself having similar problems so he had a different outlook to him. While Batman developed his skill apart of League of Assassins when he was young as protection to the Court of Owls, Jean-Paul Valley it was The Sacred Order of Saint Dumas. The Sacred Order of Saint Dumas is a lot smaller but far more difficult than the League of Assassins, where Batman's assassin training was greatly challenged by them to where he could find more learning in the trade with Azrael the super warrior. Bruce Wayne paid Ra's Al Ghul a lot of money for training, which is why Bruce Wayne didn't have to resort to killing and he didn't owe Ra's any favors. Bruce Wayne's skill was questioned when he went against The Sacred Order of Saint Dumas and then Bane. Bruce Wayne got more learning with Lady Shiva, and then with a Goddesslike being at a mystic temple with the Fountain of Essence. Batman also had some of the new improved venom, but not nearly to the level as Bane and King Snake. Batgirl, who becomes Oracle, also had more of a helping role like Tim Drake and Carrie Kelley. Catwoman was more attracted to the dark side because she saw heroes as being in denial and having more problems, which had a lot to do with dealing with Bruce Wayne's rich spoiled narcissist sociopath attitude side. He shows signs of becoming a dictator where he could develop narcissistic megalomania, and this is where Ra's was waiting for him to mature into his 30s and 40s to push him into that direction for world domination, and Batman's choices show in Kingdom Come when he's in his 50s or 60s. Ra's began with Bruce Wayne in Bruce Wayne's teens, pre-year 1. Batman can handle those issues better with Batman Beyond and Kingdom Come. With Batman Beyond he has fun living through Terry McGinnis (who turns out to share some of his DNA through gene alteration so it's also like Bruce Wayne figuring himself out.), where it's a lot different than the Robins. Bruce Wayne never seemed to have those problems with his son Damian Wayne like he did Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Bruce Wayne saw Terry McGinnis as sort of a son. Batman also develops the Batboys who grow into something so much bigger as Batman's Outsiders faction, that has lots of superheroes in it, when Bruce Wayne turns Gotham City into his reinforced Fortress territory full of Bat Drones in a future headed towards World War III. Superman's bad sides show through his cousin Ultraman of the Crime Syndicate in an alternate reality, and Superboy Prime. A bad side of Batman is his older brother Owlman from an alternate reality, and his dad taking the Batman identity in an alternate reality can also be seen somewhat as a bad side. His dad kills. Jean-Paul Valley also kills.

If all of DC's movies will have similar collateral damage to Man of Steel, I'm afraid for the cities and how they'll explain everything being rebuilt before the next villain who logically would only be stronger. I mean if fighting Zod caused THAT, imagine fighting Doomsday or frigging Darkseid and his army. Goddamn. Plus will they revisit the whole "they destroyed our home" plot every-time it happens or will BvS solve it and make it "for the good of the planet" and all that. I hope so. Can't wait for the DCU 2016 can't come fast enough
