Last September, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady announced two special editions for Batman: Arkham Knight. One would come with a Batmobile statue, while the other would come with a Batman statue. Unfortunately Warner Bros. was forced to cancel the Batmobile edition due to quality control issues.

Arkhamverse broke the news after being tipped by customers who received cancellation emails, and Rocksteady released a statement on their Batman: Arkham Knight forums:

Dear Batman: Arkham Fans,
We regret to inform you that we are not able to release the Batmobile Collector's Edition of Batman: Arkham Knight due to unforeseen circumstances that greatly compromised the quality of this extremely limited run of product.
We are deeply apologetic for this unfortunate outcome. If you did pre-order the Batmobile Collector's Edition, please go to the retail location where you pre-ordered the product and you will receive a full refund of your deposit or it can be rolled over to another Batman: Arkham Knight edition or another product of your choice.
We will be providing everyone who purchases Batman: Arkham Knight with the New 52 skin pack, including Batman, Robin and Nightwing, free of charge.

The good news? Batman: Arkham Knight is finally coming out next week! It hits stores on June 23 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

  Right, it's either you get complaining for canceling it before or you suffer the wrath of people complaining about the product. It's a no win because of Interney.

"Warner Bros cancels Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition, slap fans in the face attempting to apologize" Actually though, 3 free skins is supposed to make up for this? I was really looking forward to that batmobile statue. I think it would be fair to give people who pre-ordered it a free season pass.

  Yeah. Because most of the fans who bought the batmobile edition are big enough fans to buy the season pass anyways, so free skins are pretty pointless.

  Pre ordered mine the first day it became available. I've been waiting for almost a year for my Batmobile statue and 5 days before launch they pull it out from under me and everyone else who did the same. It's a damn shame.

  Yea it sucks because that statue looked sick. The other alternative was to release a shitty product though, so at least they had the balls to refund the money, lose profit, and refuse to release it.

    I can give them credit for deciding not to release a faulty product, but they have not handled the situation well at all. For one, when they made the announcement, stores should've had them in their back room by then, which means they had to of known they were pulling it weeks in advance. What a coincidence that they announced the cancelation right after E3! After they most likely squeezed out a few more pre-orders! And since they decided to wait until the last second, us who pre-ordered the Batmobile Edition can't even get the Limited Edition because it's sold out everywhere. And to top it all off they're giving us a free skin pack? Yeah, I know, "They could've given you nothing" But offering the bare minimum, and not just to those affected but everyone, feels like a slap to the face more than anything. And now they've been giving us the silence treatment ever since. A "We're working on a way to make it up to you" or, "Here's a further explanation of why we pulled it" hell, even a "Again we're really sorry" would be better than complete silence!
    tl;dr, It feels like they're just completely shafting the big fans who were willing to put down top dollar to get the most out of it. I'm still super excited for the game, but I was really looking forward to that collectors edition.

      Didn't they say that you can have refunds or a different edition of your choosing?
      "Big Fans"?? I consider myself a big fan and I preferred the Batman version... you know cause it has Batman.... Not his car..... Of which I have my preferred version.... The Hot Toys Tumbler..... Much more expensive..... And more well made.... obviously.... You got one???.... Nah?.... Well i'm obviously the bigger fan then....

That really sucks for anyone who bought this, but yeah, at least the game is not delayed even more. At least buyers have the option to switching over to another collector's editions.
And am I reading the last part correctly, that EVERYONE is getting the New 52 skins, not just the ones affected by this cancellation?

  A Gamestop employee called me last night to inform me of the cancellation. The thing that sucks even more is switching to the limited edition isn't even an option because they've been sold out for months. I'm really bummed about the whole situation, the people shelling out the money for something like this are most likely the big fans, the core fanbase, of this franchise and it basically feels like they're giving us the middle finger.

        oh, you're right. i checked the other day because i thought about switching my preorder from best buy to gamestop for the red hood pack, but figured they'd just put it out eventually anyway. they showed to have more in stock, but now it looks otherwise. that really sucks for those people preorderers. i'd be really upset.

        In the Arkham Knight forums, a community manager confirmed that all pre-order DLC (as expected) is timed exclusives until about August or September, when they will start being released. Season pass owners will get all of this content, and I'm sure it will be individually available for purchase.

Dang, I remember I was so upset when I tried to pre order it at gamestop but they told me it was sold out in the first two days. So I preordered the batman statue limited edition instead, now I feel relieved I am getting a limited edition nonetheless but this sucks for those people who were looking forward for this

The problem I have with it, is that they could've shipped this edition without the Batmobile in it. I'm sure they had to have known about this issue more than 5 days before launch. Most of the games were already arriving in stores by yesterday. Losing out on the statue sucks, but losing out on the limited edition comic, the art book, and the steel book case? That's pretty lame if you ask me.

People I feel for your loss. But after GameStop screwed me by not allowing me to preorder at all I've gone cold. I'm intending to just order the new Kotobukiya Arkham Knight Batman and well the Arkham Knight.

Did anybody preorder through Target? I bought a $1 reservation card, which they assured me is preordering and will get me all the perks, but I don't believe it...

  As far as I know, Target did not have any preorder exclusive content available to it. It just had the generic Harley Quinn DLC everywhere had, and then if you got the PS4 version, that content.

      If you just want the regular game, no!! You should be able to cancel your Target one and get it somewhere else. You can probably literally preorder on Monday June 22.
      Preorder bonuses are as follows (for the US anyway):
      GameStop: Red Hood DLC - play as Red Hood in a story driven mission
      Walmart: Prototype Batmobile skin
      Amazon: 1st Appearance Batman skin
      Best Buy: Wayne Booster pack - get Batman and Batmobile ability upgrades right out the gate, as opposed to waiting until you have enough XP to add them.
      If you wanted the Collector's edition (with the Batman statue) sounds like you may be screwed, as there aren't many out there. Amazon's Comic collector's edition may still be available though.

        I'm glad! I definitely feel GameStop had the best content for pre-order bonuses, but all of the pre order DLC will be released eventually, so it was more a matter of what you want sooner than some other players.

  Well i can't believe my eyes but i didn't expect another AMC documentary on Jena Malone. Thanks for posting this and because this footage is still speculation on her role, i think that she plays Carrie Kelley but she isn't Robin yet in BvS. Hopefully she dons the Robin's costume in a Batfleck stand-alone movie. John Campea made a remark about Jena's natural haircolour which he thought she was redheaded but she's a brunette by nature, this looks very silly cause you can easily look that up.
  Btw. i'm not a she but a he, a guy!!!

  Same. They told me the only possibility at this point is if someone doesn't pick theirs up this week it will be put on the shelves. I'm curious to see if I get my copy Monday night and play it, if they'll do a full exchange if a limited edition becomes available.

I was actually gonna buy this edition when it was announced, splurge a little for the likely the last batman game I was gonna buy (as it/s the last one Rocksteady will be handling personally). I couldn't because it didn't release for PC in America or something like that. I guess I'm glad as this spares me the heartache of having to rollback to the likely already sold out other deluxe edition. While it must suck for people who pre-purchased this (could have given them a little more warning time that 5 days from release), I commend them for doing the right thing and canceling it rather than releasing faulty product.

Dont be bothered by this too much. After seeing videos on youtube of what the batmobile really looks like its way less impressive than the picture seems to be. It was crappy toys r us plastic , that could morph into the bat thank seen in gameplay and making some pew pew sounds by pressing some buttons. I'm definitly happy I pre ordered the Statue edition instead
