A new trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight was just shown off at Sony's E3 2015 press conference! Fans who were hoping The Joker would somehow come back from the dead will be a little disappointed -- the trailer kicks off with Commissioner Gordon cremating The Joker, putting him to rest once and for all.

We're then treated to some gameplay footage which shows off why the game received a M for Mature rating. The first-person gameplay footage almost looks like Zombie mode from Call of Duty. Check out the full E3 2015 trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight above to see what I mean.

Game director Sefton Hill announced on Twitter that the footage shown at E3 was from the opening minutes of the game:

Batman: Arkham Knight will be released on June 23 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

If I read that correctly, I believe the M-rated first person content of that trailer was showing off the (timed) exclusive PS4 Scarecrow missions. And I know they're showing Joker cremated, but I'm not buying it. Still think he'll be back in some form, with Hamill reprising the role!

  I think that was the intro to the game, since it opens with the cremation scene and a Gordon voiceover. They simply mentioned the Scarecrow missions because they're a selling point for Sony.

This explains the "shooting unarmed citizens" or whatever thing from the ESRB profile. Since the cop is hallucinating, he's killing civilians.

Im actually glad the Joker is dead. It leaves us with a more surprising twist to be had. The villain is never who we think it is in these games. I just can't wait any longer! I already requested off of work a couple of days for this game!

That cop scene did not look like a batman game, not that that's a bad thing. I'm really glad the Joker's dead, I was sad that we wouldn't see him again when he died in Arkham city but I'd had quite enough of him hogging the spotlight with Arkham Origins, so I'm glad that spotlight will be on other interesting villains. Seems like they've really nailed the atmosphere on this game, I always appreciate the small touches like the the Paul Dini Diner or the Anarchy symbol carved into the table. Looks great can't wait to play it.

  Thank god someone else see's it ...
  I've been playing through Bioshock and then Infinite and sort of becoming obsessed with it, especally Infinite, and I swear I was seeing it everywhere I went. I was freakin Sarah Connor with the three dots on the brain.
  If they're going out epic it's pretty cool to give shout outs to the Bioshock trilogy, seeing as how Arkham Asylum really took inspiration from the first Bioshock especially Rapture.
  If they're going out, they're definitely going out with class.

I pray that Rocksteady makes use of another DC character after the Arkham Trilogy. I would even play a Vicky Vale game if it was made by rocksteady!
