Thousands of DC Comics fans set Guinness World Record for Most People Dressed as DC Comics Super Heroes

Yesterday, Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Entertainment (DCE) hosted fans around the world to set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as DC Comics Super Heroes.

In a 24-hour period, thousands of fans gathered around the globe to participate in the DC Comics Super Hero World Record Event by donning their favorite costumes inspired by DC Comics’ pantheon of Super Heroes, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Batgirl, Supergirl, Aquaman, Cyborg, Robin, Green Arrow and many more.

The DC Comics Super Hero World Record Event kicked off on April 18, 2015 in Queensland, Australia, and came to a commemorative close in Los Angeles, CA, USA. Within the same 24-hour period, additional events took place around the world in: Manila, Philippines; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Madrid, Spain; Rome, Italy; London, Birmingham, Warrington and Cardiff in the UK; São Paulo, Brazil; Paris, France; “Smallville,” USA (Plano, IL) and Mexico City, Mexico.
Fans are highlighting their participation in the heroic event using #DCWorldRecord on Facebook and Twitter. The official Guinness World Record count will be available in the coming days.

  it doesn't stop there. There are literally dozens of 'comic book movie' sites that claim to be independent when they are anything but.
  Said sites can post an article already knowing that they will control the way the comment section appears to respond to it.
  For example: a covert Marvel Studio site will have a comment section that appears to say 'hooray!' for all news pertaining to the MCU, and anything that isn't MCU related will have a comment section full of words like 'disappointing' 'let down' 'not interested' etc etc.

The sites like Badass Digest and etc have connections to big studio companies and have certain articles that portray them in a favor light. Online commentators are often hired to write certain comments, pretending to be actual netizens even though they are hired to do so. They are what I called Penny Soldiers. They get paid for what they wrote on news site, instigate negative reactions to frame the competitors.

My thoughts exactly. Marc Webb was a very hardworking director and a passionate Spider-Man fan although his movies may not have made much of an impact.
Going by Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, Disney has ruined Spidey, they think Spidey as a marketing tool to be thrown in with the other Avengers without any coherent reason just to get sell more. Disney will destroy Spidey, they're throwing him in Civil War as a money-grabber.

  MT, I've been waiting to discuss this. I just finished watching Days of Future Past. It was such an inherently powerful movie, I feel better after every re-watch, Singer beautifully balances the characters and successfully brings out the mutant cause with moving dialogue and emotion. That Magneto speech in the end ?! Xavier pacifying Mystique ?! So beautifully done. First Class is also brilliant, the Cuba War, Shaw's plan, that Magneto missile diversion, BRILLIANT!
  On the other hand, it's a disgrace how Marvel Studios handles their characters and scripts, Disney pales in comparison to the consistently brilliant work Fox is doing with X-Men.
  Out of vendetta, Disney has cancelled the F4 and X-Men series (Wolverine etc.), it's such a dastardly act that exposes how vindictive Disney is.
  Shame to all those who want X-Men rights to revert to Marvel.

Not really a surprise. Marvel may have the upper hand in their cinematic universe at the moment and their characters may be growing in popularity, but outside of Spider-Man and maybe a few others.. there characters aren't as iconic and memorable as DC's heroes. Of course this is just my opinion, but before the whole MCU happened.. I know my mother and father (they are NOT comic book fans) knew ALL the core members in the Justice League ( and a few other random DC characters such as Catwoman, Robin, Lex, Joker, Supergirl and Batgirl) except Martian Manhunter. They didn't know anyone from Marvel outside of Spider-Man and Hulk.

I'm not sure I agree completely. The reason why so many people know of DC characters is through media like cartoons that watched when the were a child. Batman TAS, Superman, Justice League etc. but you're also forgetting about X Men TAS, Fantastic Four, Spiderman TAS and more.
As for comics in general, that's a different story. They've both been around for over 70 years and have massively contributed to the legacy and beauty of comics and comic book story telling.

  Right, that's what I meant. Thanks to the media, DC characters have become more iconic and memorable. Trust me, Spider-Man TAS and X-Men TAS were awesome, but I don't feel like they left a mark like DC's did. My parents didn't even know the X-Men were comic book characters. They knew who the Justice League were because of cartoons/ shows they were exposed to. The general audience were exposed to DC a lot more than Marvel in earlier years. I'm not trying to degrade Marvel but up until now, they didn't really have a big impact on the general audience like DC did throughout the years.

      Oh yea that's a given. Which is why I excluded Spider-Man in my original statement. Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most iconic heroes ever created and it could be argued that she is more iconic than all the other Marvel heroes, but Spider-Man is the exception. They may be the trinity but Spider-Man is up there with Superman and Batman.

Yea, that's what I find annoying and obnoxious with some of the MCU fans I encounter:
"That Spider-Man movie is going to be garbage because it doesn't belong to Disney."
"That Fantastic Four movie is going to be garbage because it doesn't belong to Disney."
So the Spider-Man movie didn't turn out the way fans wanted and it went to Disney. Cool. But the Fantastic Four though? They haven't even seen the movie and they are already saying it's "going to be horrific". Why? Just because it doesn't belong to the MCU. Really? I detest that mentality.
Or when they say that Affleck will suck at Batman because he sucked at Daredevil. Chris Evans was a horrible Human Torch but "oh no, that's different because it's Disney". It's sad that they give Marvel fans a bad name.

      Even if that ever happends, we still have 50 years of mind blowing X Men comics that we can always reread. X Men died in 2011 for me anyway. Chris Claremont's mindblowing run 1975-1991 is the definitive X Men run and my favorite run on all of comics with Bendis's Daredevil as a close second

This massive show of strength only proves that DC runs through the blood of audiences from all walks of life. Superman's "S" is the most recognized symbol after the Christian Cross. Batman is the #1 comic-book hero and has gained a Chuck Norris cult status of badassery (Because I'm Batman), Wonder Woman is what comes to mind when people talk of an empowered female superhero. Joker is the greatest supervillain. All the Lantern Corps, the Guardians etc. make GL's universe so vast and enriching.

My point is, didn't Stan Lee make himself look like a total dumbass when he thought a few years of colourful junk on screen will put Marvel on top of DC ?! DC has nurtured generations to attain such an iconic and memorable status.

I think Marvel troll and I have pretty much synonymous viewpoints so I'll speak for me but I may also speak for him when I say that I have REALLY liked the X-Men movies and really enjoyed Amazing Spiderman, and, heaven forbid it, I enjoyed The Winter Soldier, the first Iron Man, and GOTG sure bought a smile to my face too.
What's soiled is my love for the MCU, not because I necessarily think it's bad (a lot of it is overrated imo, that's about it) but I can't look at anything in the MCU without feeling this tiny bit of disdain and disgust for it purely because of the godawful bandwagon fanbase it has. That's not to say all Marvel fans are like that, of course- you're not, as a Daredevil fan AND a person with an intelligent, well thought opinion. I like to think I'm the same as a fan of Marvel stuff.
But so many of them bandwagoners enjoy bashing DC more than they actually enjoy Marvel that it makes me feel a tad sick to look at anything MCU related. When I've always preferred DC, I'm inevitably gonna lean towards them, which pits me directly against those...creatures. :p

I was just rewatching Days of Future Past as it was on TV, and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. Honestly, I think that the best Marvel movies have been made by Fox recently. DOFP/First Class are on a whole other level to the MCU in my opinion, and Deadpool looks amazing too.

I don't get how people bootlick the MCU and demand the rights of everything go to Disney when really, the X-Men movies are of such a higher quality. I feel like if (when) BvS succeeds, and considering WB's amazing work on the small screen, with TDK trilogy and MoS (even if the internet wouldn't agree with the latter) and then Fox's success the MCU is very much on the bottom of the quality pile.

Absolutely! I find them a perfect balance of tone, right there in between the grittiness of DC & the Lightheartedness of Disney.     it doesn't stop there. There are literally dozens of 'comic book movie' sites that claim to be independent when they are anything but.
    Said sites can post an article already knowing that they will control the way the comment section appears to respond to it.
    For example: a covert Marvel Studio site will have a comment section that appears to say 'hooray!' for all news pertaining to the MCU, and anything that isn't MCU related will have a comment section full of words like 'disappointing' 'let down' 'not interested' etc etc.

  My thoughts exactly. Marc Webb was a very hardworking director and a passionate Spider-Man fan although his movies may not have made much of an impact.
  Going by Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, Disney has ruined Spidey, they think Spidey as a marketing tool to be thrown in with the other Avengers without any coherent reason just to get sell more. Disney will destroy Spidey, they're throwing him in Civil War as a money-grabber.

    MT, I've been waiting to discuss this. I just finished watching Days of Future Past. It was such an inherently powerful movie, I feel better after every re-watch, Singer beautifully balances the characters and successfully brings out the mutant cause with moving dialogue and emotion. That Magneto speech in the end ?! Xavier pacifying Mystique ?! So beautifully done. First Class is also brilliant, the Cuba War, Shaw's plan, that Magneto missile diversion, BRILLIANT!
    On the other hand, it's a disgrace how Marvel Studios handles their characters and scripts, Disney pales in comparison to the consistently brilliant work Fox is doing with X-Men.
    Out of vendetta, Disney has cancelled the F4 and X-Men series (Wolverine etc.), it's such a dastardly act that exposes how vindictive Disney is.
    Shame to all those who want X-Men rights to revert to Marvel.

Not really a surprise. Marvel may have the upper hand in their cinematic universe at the moment and their characters may be growing in popularity, but outside of Spider-Man and maybe a few others.. there characters aren't as iconic and memorable as DC's heroes. Of course this is just my opinion, but before the whole MCU happened.. I know my mother and father (they are NOT comic book fans) knew ALL the core members in the Justice League ( and a few other random DC characters such as Catwoman, Robin, Lex, Joker, Supergirl and Batgirl) except Martian Manhunter. They didn't know anyone from Marvel outside of Spider-Man and Hulk.

  I'm not sure I agree completely. The reason why so many people know of DC characters is through media like cartoons that watched when the were a child. Batman TAS, Superman, Justice League etc. but you're also forgetting about X Men TAS, Fantastic Four, Spiderman TAS and more.
  As for comics in general, that's a different story. They've both been around for over 70 years and have massively contributed to the legacy and beauty of comics and comic book story telling.

Trust me, Spider-Man TAS and X-Men TAS were awesome, but I don't feel like they left a mark like DC's did. My parents didn't even know the X-Men were comic book characters. They knew who the Justice League were because of cartoons/ shows they were exposed to. The general audience were exposed to DC a lot more than Marvel in earlier years. I'm not trying to degrade Marvel but up until now, they didn't really have a big impact on the general audience like DC did throughout the years.

Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most iconic heroes ever created and it could be argued that she is more iconic than all the other Marvel heroes, but Spider-Man is the exception.         Even if that ever happends, we still have 50 years of mind blowing X Men comics that we can always reread. X Men died in 2011 for me anyway. Chris Claremont's mindblowing run 1975-1991 is the definitive X Men run and my favorite run on all of comics with Bendis's Daredevil as a close second

This massive show of strength only proves that DC runs through the blood of audiences from all walks of life. Superman's "S" is the most recognized symbol after the Christian Cross. Batman is the #1 comic-book hero and has gained a Chuck Norris cult status of badassery (Because I'm Batman), Wonder Woman is what comes to mind when people talk of an empowered female superhero. Joker is the greatest supervillain. All the Lantern Corps, the Guardians etc. make GL's universe so vast and enriching.
My point is, didn't Stan Lee make himself look like a total dumbass when he thought a few years of colourful junk on screen will put Marvel on top of DC ?! DC has nurtured generations to attain such an iconic and memorable status.

  Well to be fair, not only is the show the second most marathoned show of all time (behind House of Cards) but it's 2nd most pirated show in history (behind Game of Thrones). I think it definitely deserves its spot.

  I think Marvel troll and I have pretty much synonymous viewpoints so I'll speak for me but I may also speak for him when I say that I have REALLY liked the X-Men movies and really enjoyed Amazing Spiderman, and, heaven forbid it, I enjoyed The Winter Soldier, the first Iron Man, and GOTG sure bought a smile to my face too.
  What's soiled is my love for the MCU, not because I necessarily think it's bad (a lot of it is overrated imo, that's about it) but I can't look at anything in the MCU without feeling this tiny bit of disdain and disgust for it purely because of the godawful bandwagon fanbase it has. That's not to say all Marvel fans are like that, of course- you're not, as a Daredevil fan AND a person with an intelligent, well thought opinion. I like to think I'm the same as a fan of Marvel stuff.
  But so many of them bandwagoners enjoy bashing DC more than they actually enjoy Marvel that it makes me feel a tad sick to look at anything MCU related. When I've always preferred DC, I'm inevitably gonna lean towards them, which pits me directly against those...creatures. :p

      It's not a matter of "letting," though. Believe me, I've dismissed them for the unintelligent twats that they are for a long time, but when all you can see is hate from the same idiots, I'm not inclined to see a Marvel movie, let alone sit among those same idiots who compromise so much of the vocal portion of MCU fans.

I was just rewatching Days of Future Past as it was on TV, and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. Honestly, I think that the best Marvel movies have been made by Fox recently. DOFP/First Class are on a whole other level to the MCU in my opinion, and Deadpool looks amazing too.
I don't get how people bootlick the MCU and demand the rights of everything go to Disney when really, the X-Men movies are of such a higher quality. I feel like if (when) BvS succeeds, and considering WB's amazing work on the small screen, with TDK trilogy and MoS (even if the internet wouldn't agree with the latter) and then Fox's success the MCU is very much on the bottom of the quality pile.

  Absolutely! I find them a perfect balance of tone, right there in between the grittiness of DC & the Lightheartedness of Disney.
