Variety has a great article about new cameras that IMAX has developed, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is one of the lucky few who gets to use them!

IMAX has been very selective about allowing filmmakers to use its cameras, limiting their use to a few A-list names such as Zack Snyder (“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”), Brad Bird (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”), Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar”) and J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”).

Snyder's in good company there.

"The demand for our cameras has never been stronger," said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment. "But we've had a supply/demand issue. In a very calculated way we held back the supply and that's increased demand in a way that we haven't been able to satisfy."

Parts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice were shot in IMAX, and I think it's safe to assume that Snyder will continue to use the large image format when he moves onto Justice League.

    i guess we will be getting an one shot poster or a sneak peek out of no where on the official twitter or Face book account of BvS or WB all of sudden, to officially confirm that trailer will be showcased on May 15th.

    Yeah 3D is just meh. There's a true dome IMAX near where I live, so I'm hoping they show it. Interstellar was amazing there. (70mm film and everything.)

Actually, the main focus of the Variety article is the fact that Captain America: Civil War will be the first movie to use one of the new IMAX cameras. I only covered the part about Zack Snyder here.

  IMAX cameras use 65/70mm film and normal cameras use 35mm or digital. The bigger film allows for much higher resolution. Also, IMAX is usually framed like a TV screen, with 16:9 ratio.

Count me as another who wants this solely in IMAX, without any 3D type conversion. Seeing a genuine IMAX film on a real IMAX screen is always fantastic, I can't properly see 3D without actual physical discomfort due to some stereo blindness, though, so it's a major buzzkill when they force the 3D on top of everything else. Would be nice if more theaters would have IMAX only options and then IMAX/3D options so everyone can be happy.
Sidenote: It's my first post on this site. Have enjoyed lurking here for a few months, so I look forward to jumping in a bit more.

the production is already done, and even editing is done. only music composition and some VFX works are remaining.

    Trust me it will take longer because as of now the entire VFX, editing and music works will be concentrated in promotional stuff and side by side they will also have to do the actual parts so its gonna take longer than that.

Guys I think we have a Visual Effects Oscar in our hands.
The more sequences shot in IMAX, that too if the VFX team is good (c'mon guys its Snyder!!) the higher chances of getting an Oscar.
Nolan may have used IMAX for The Dark Knight trilogy, but it was Interstellar which got him an Oscar. Nolan got himself a very strong VFX team plus an adept cinematographer like Hoyte Van Hoytema.... and 66 mins. of Interstellar was shot in IMAX.
Quite a lot of previous VFX Oscar entries and potential ones have been shot in IMAX of which these are my favorites:
Interstellar: 66 minutes shot with 15perf/70mm IMAX cameras. Latest IMAX 70mm DMR release.
The Hobbit: DotS: First mainstream feature to be release in the new IMAX Laser Projectors (by Kodak). All the other Hobbit films have been shot in IMAX
Transformers Age of Extinction: First mainstream feature to be partially shot with digital IMAX 3D cameras with 94 minutes of IMAX 3D footage. The longest IMAX 3D movie ever filmed. The previous Transformer movies too have been shot in IMAX, Transformers: Dark Of the Moon too was nominated for a VFX Oscar.
Guys, I'm 90% confident Zack Snyder will grab a VFX Oscar. All an IMAX camera needs is a great VFX team and an adept director like Zack Snyder.

        Yeah, the last few days we've seen some awful trolls. Started with KelVintage I think. Right now he's trying to make amends by posturing himself conveniently, if he's genuinely doing it, its welcome.
        But these two trolls today on the recent page, they were too annoying. Totally tried to destroy the positive atmosphere there. So I had to send them packing.
        I cant help noticing the absence of Daniel Christopher Holt. And don't worry Atomic Man will visit these two articles sooner than you think.

  - Star Wars: The Force Awakens (few shots)
  - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
  Film with IMAX 3D sequences shown in 1.90 ratio in Digital IMAX theatre:
  - Transformers 4: Age of Extinction
  - Flight Crew
  To answer Vish Gos.
  All other films are classic film (35mm) or digital (2K to 5K) production presented in Digital IMAX theatres using dual 2K projectors, or in 15/70mm equipped IMAX theatres but still using digital dual 2K projectors, sometimes with a different ratio to fit the 1.90 screen (Skyfall, Avatar...)
  Dual 4K laser by Kodak was introduced at the Chinese Theatre for The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies (NOT shot in IMAX) in December.
  Last but not least: the 15/70mm IMAX film delivers the best picture quality ever attained, but the use of CGI (in lesser resolution) and re-print affect it. Natural scenes, practical effects or light VFX help maintaining that quality (hence Nolan "practical" tendancy).

I really hope Ayer gets to use the real IMAX camera's as well! BvS is done with principal photography, as is The Force Awakens.. I wonder what other films are using the format right now.. It looks like there is place for Ayer. I hope the company is going to make more camera's! There is no such thing as not enough IMAX.
