Suicide Squad director David Ayer is almost ready to start rolling the cameras, but that hasn't stopped him from sharing more behind-the-scenes set photos. Last night Ayer shared a photo from the Arkham Asylum set with the caption "Every detail matters".
Production begins in just a couple of weeks around mid-April. Hopefully we get our first official look at some of the characters around that time as well!

They're good with casting, but not with plot details
I'm not sure that was the original source. But even if it was, it would be one thing right among dozens of things it gets wrong. It would be the exception, not the rule.

Viola Davis was a name already in the running. They made an educated guess. Kind of like when Holly Hunter had been cast in and unknown role in BvS and rumors were going around that she would be playing Leslie Tompkins. Latino Review went ahead and broke the news that Hunter was playing Tompkins. They were wrong. They gave it a shot though.

This is not the Suicide Squad movie, this the DC movie featuring the suicide squad and friends, and I ain't complaining. Also, I would like to get a messed up Arkham Asylum like the one in the game and (dare I say) the Schumacher movies

Joker is there and Luthor, Deathstroke, Batman, Hugo Strange and Aquaman's Trident are rumored. Never in a superhero movie have we ever got this many crossover characters.
I know many of those characters have been in Suicide Squad stories. ... and Friends conjures up images of cutesy stories or that it's somehow less serious than it should be.

It actually only makes sense to me that a Suicide Squad movie would have lots of big name characters on the side. Think of the Task Force X episode of JLU. It was definitely a Suicide Squad story, but they had run-ins with various members of the Justice League. Same with Batman: Assault on Arkham, which would have been appropriately called Suicide Squad: Assault on Arkham, because it was totally a Suicide Squad movie.
They operate in the DCU and regularly encounter DC superheroes and villains. Honestly, if you needed someone to break Joker out of Arkham, or steal Aquaman's Trident, or whatever the plot ends up actually being, the Suicide Squad is who does the job. Any big-name characters are incidental to their story.
Chris, did you see they released a clip from Batman Unlimited on DC All Access recently? Costume design is horrible but they were surprisingly well done fight scenes.
What was with there costume design? It's like they tried to make it futuristic and did a really poor job at that.
Or they went to the toy section at Target and said "Oh, that must be what Batman looks like." It looks like those off-brand toys like "super soaker Batman" or whatever.
I think it's really based on the toys.

Am I wrong for thinking if Marvel did that they wouldn't cop nearly as much flak? That's not a dig at Marvel, and I know they don't really go that dark anyway, but that's where a lot of the bandwagon is, including the people who complain about things like those covers (Tumblr fangirls, in a sweeping and unfair generalization).
It's 'cool' to hate on DC at the moment, and I think that's definitely a part of what started the controversy. If Marvel did it the internet would have said it was a 'profound look back at the characters' history.' -_-

Haha yeah I saw exactly the same thing. Same as you see Gadot as Wonder Woman and they say "yeah, but she just can't act as WW." Wait, what? We've seen her ACT AS WONDER WOMAN? People will honestly bash anything, and then they'll go and praise Marvel for EXACTLY THE SAME THING.
The sad thing is I still enjoy the Marvel movies, but my enjoyment of them is tainted by those horrible Disney MCU fans. They're often good fun (they've had few more crappy ones than people credit, but still) but I often find myself disliking them because of their fanbase. GOTG I couldn't get hyped up about because in every comments section, instead of hyping up the movie, they were bashing DC. Honestly, these fans are the kind who enjoy bashing other stuff more than they do enjoying the thing they profess to like.
And I say "MCU fans" specifically, because they rag on X-Men and the like too simply because it's not part of the bandwagon MCU, even though DOFP/First Class in my eyes are far superior movies.

Actually, after the 2004 & 2005 disasters of Catwoman & Elektra movies, studios have been gunshy about doing a superheroine movie. There's a script nearly greenlit for a Black Widow movie before the MCU started. It sits in limbo because of those 2.
You are correct, the WW movie is reportedly the 4th DCCU movie. Since 2008, it'll be about the 18th comic book movie. It sounds less a gamble at this point.
There's a certain disparity there. I'm not a social justice warrior, but it's interesting that after Green Lantern superhero films kept being made. Or after Daredevil. The fact is, that script for Black Widow is "nearly" greenlit because Marvel haven't been prepared to come out for over 10 movies with a female led one (although, with Captain Marvel in development, not BW, I'm not sure how close to greenlit it was), despite comfortably putting bets on a racoon and tree's success.
Regardless of whether DC has started later or not, their 4th movie is still always gonna be their 4th movie. They have a show out this year centered solely on a female superhero. They've had the guts here to step up and make the announcement of a female movie first.
If the likes of Elektra and Catwoman were indeed that big of a turnoff, and there's still been no female led movie since, to come out with their fourth one as opposed to their 12-16th, which a lot more hinges on, then, yeah, that's a gutsy gamble.
It was greenlit before the MCU became a thing. It was in limbo following Elektra's failure.
Reportedly making WW the fourth movie (or nearly the 20th overall since 2008) is still less of a gamble in the genre at this point.

Since 2008, there has been 10 MCU movies, 2 Batman movies, & 1 DCCU. The genre is getting high interest from the general audience. It's not a gamble to have a solo heroine movie at this point.
But MCU still has no solo female hero films. And Black Widow has been around (as eye candy) since IM 2. Guess I answered my own question.

I think he's mainly implying the hypocrisy can occur in such a short time frame. And that Captain Marvel was announced AFTER Wonder Woman, not necessarily as a result of it- which is the truth.
That is the truth, but Captain Marvel's announcement came when they did a presser. It's also implying something that didn't really occur. When did Marvel state it wasn't going to do that?

Isn't that similar to what's happening here? Every thread winds up with posts about wanting the BvS trailer. A photo from Suicide Squad comes out & people are still complaining about no BvS trailer.

Whenever there's a call to arms here to head over to another site, I follow to see what the heck is going on. So far, I've found more people stating they didn't like MoS & why, then trolls actually trolling.
Aside from those, I'm on one other website that's "neutral" & I rarely ever see anything that would imply it's a tidal wave from one side.

I'm hearing that it's not going to happen at Wonder Con, but most likely it will happen at Cinema Con.
SS starts filming early April, that's why I think we'll get the first Joker photo.

Next week at WonderCon, WB has a panel. We know that they are going to talk about San Andreas and Mad Max. I'm hoping that they annouce that the BvS trailer will be released with Mad Max.

Nether characters are close to Batman because Batman isn't the first character to become playboy/vigilante of Justice. People act like Batman is a completely original character but he isn't because no character is original. And as for Moonknight, I don't recall Batman ever ripping a guy's face off
I try to forget that story. Huston changed things right before release. He also turned the character into a psycho.

Actually, they had to incorporate the brand on the title. They couldn't get the rights to dole name because of that kick ass FX show.
There are other shows called Agents of SHIELD or Agent Carter? O.o
No, but they weren't allowed to use SHIELD, so Marvel had to be added to the title for approval. Same with the movie.
Now it's just part of the branding.
And I think the branding is what carries it too far. Marvel's Agent Carter could have just been Agent Carter. Marvel's Daredevil could just be Daredevil. I understand in some cases legal disputes come into play, but the branding on names like those above is what gives off more of an aura of redundancy than without. It feels like:
"Here's a show about Peggy Carter. Captain America's girlfriend? Remember? No? Oh, well it says Marvel, so people will watch it now." It's branding, yes, but that's not a good thing in this case.
It's no different then flashing a logo before a movie or at the end of a show. It seems petty to complain about just Marvel doing it.
I have an OCD friend who stated after years of being irritated by Raiders of the Lost Ark, it's finally in line with the rest, as its now: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
If Marvel is going to do it for some, why not all to keep it consistantly? Especially if it'll hinder issues with titles of other properties.
I'm complaining about just Marvel doing it because we're talking about Marvel, not Indiana Jones. When you need to slap a brand on the front for relevance, that's a problem.
It's not consistent, either. None of their films have it. Jessica Jones (to the best of my knowledge) won't do it. It's specifically the stuff not outwardly linked to Marvel that they slap it on- it's a matter, in my eyes, of having a bit more faith in their products, and if they can't find that faith, then don't make them.
I understand, it's an issue because its Marvel; John Carpenter, Ian Fleming, none of those bother you because it's not Marvel.
If you talk about having a question of faith in the product, then why of WB need Affleck as Batman or Smith in Suicide Squad?

I don't recall Fleming ever publishing his books as "James Bond: Skyfall" or "007: Casino Royale." It may have appeared on the cover of a few, I don't know, I don't have the books, but that's not the title.
You're reaching now. Casting Will Smith somehow means they don't have faith in their product? Perhaps he was the best actor for the role? One already closely associated with the company? Also, Affleck isn't actually confirmed to be in SS, and if he is, it's a safe bet it's a minor role. Not to carry the movie, but to ground it in the shared universe mythos. We now know from this very article at least some will be set in Gotham.
I don't have some "Marvel vendetta" like you think I do. Read my comments. But it's this kind of marketing that annoys me.

The Smith reference was like Affleck's; attaching A-list celebrities to the roles. Any non-comic book media outlet I've since run any story on BvS, they always crowbar "Ben Affleck as Batman."
It hasn't happened yet, but I'm betting the same will happen with Smith for the SS movie.
I remembered to look into this after seeing a new trailer for Daredevil.
All the Netflix Marvel series are branded as "Marvel's...". So, all the MCU TV series thus far will have the same branding.
Also, I'd disagree it's no different to a logo at the start of a movie, because in this case it's literally the first word of the TITLE of the show, not a cool logo animation.
Marvel sticks their name in front of every film/TV show, and no other company does this. The Indy comparison would fit if the film's name was "Lucasfilm's Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark". Imagine that.

Star Wars spinoffs have Star Wars in the title.
They're all used as branding.

That's really cool that they're going to get into those details. I wonder if that has anything to do with Harley Quinn and Arkhum Asylum or if those are her notes. I thought she was deeper into it with this movie as already being caught but it would be cool if that has something to do with Arkhum Asylum as her notes to where she deeply knows about criminal psychopath serial killers and knows all of the tricks of the trade. Arkhum Asylum has the most skilled criminal psychopath serial killers in the world. That's not the same as King Snake's militia, The League of Assassins, or The Sacred Order of Saint Dumas which are much different entirely.
