Viola Davis on Suicide Squad's Amanda Waller: She's unapologetic and badass

CBR caught up with Viola Davis this past weekend at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, and asked what excited her about taking the role of Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad. "That she’s Amanda Waller!" she replied. "That she’s badass."

"She’s unapologetic," Davis continued. "Everything that I’m reading and studying about her: unapologetic, no humor, just brutal. That’s me!"

"Listen, she gets to use a gun," laughed Davis. "It’s my fantasy. Now, I would never do that in life, but when I get a gun on a set, it does something to me."

Suicide Squad begins shooting in just a few weeks in Toronto. Hopefully it won't be long before we get the first official photos of the star-studded cast.

      Nope. Trailer came out in December 2013. The movie came out in November 2014.

      Yea that's right. Then why in the hell did they have that comment at the end of the teaser "one year from now"? That's kinda of misleading on their part.
      But anyway, how bout TDKR trailer?
      That came out exactly a year before the release -
      EDIT; Actually it came out earlier -
      Teaser came out on July 18, 2011 ~ The movie came out July 20th 2012

      Nope. So many people are missing the word "exact". Star Wars trailer came out on November 28, 2014, the movie comes out December 18, 2015.
      Fans are expecting something special tomorrow just because it's *exactly* one year away, but there's no evidence to support that. The only thing special about tomorrow is that it's my birthday! ;)
      I just hate seeing you guys get disappointed!

      Thanks for replying. I do comment regularly, but I have decided I don't want a Disqus account; I already have Google and Facebook following me all over the internet and don't want to add to the parade. Plus, I can think of 5 or 6 Disqus sites I frequent off the top of my head, and I don't really need to have my comments on all of those linked together. So, I'll just keep posting like this and forget about upvoting.

    If i remember correctly I think the Man of Steel trailer dropped at the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises..which was July 20, 2012 and Man of Steel premiered on July 17, 2013 so maybe we might see one, i don't know. If I am wrong someone do the research and correct me

Look guys, even if we don't get a BVS trailer in the next few weeks, think of it this way: we at least definitely get official Suicide Squad photos very soon since they will begin filming in a few weeks. So we'll be getting SOMETHING DCCU related very soon either way.

I'm much more willing to give Fant4stic a chance after I read a leak online about the plot. It seems that I may actually see my favorite supervillain done right after all. If Doom and Reed are executed correctly then I may end up loving this film

    To some extent, you have. From what I know of SPECTRE & the synopsis I've read for the movie, MI: RN seems like a lot like the 007 movie.

      Yea, Mission Impossible is slowly becoming the "American" Bond. Hey, as long as both movies are awesome then I'm all in for it. I'm going to have to trade Mission for Spectre on the list. Jurassic World stays at 5 and Spectre takes 4th!

      The first 2 Daniel Craig Bonds had me think "so Bond is just the British Jason Bourne, now?"
      I'm interested in Jurassic World, but it's on the bubble for me. There's only about 5 movies I'll make time for, and 1-2 I'll try to squeeze in.

      No, I thought it was you who convinced me to watch them. I had stated before that I wasn't interested in seeing Star Wars because I never saw them when I was younger but I was happy to see so many people excited about them. Then you (or someone) told me to watch the original ones first an then the prequels!

Btw, the Joker's 75th anniversary of his first debut is April 25th.
Being that Suicide Squad starts shooting soon and we got a Batman
picture around the beginning of BvS's production, coupled with David
Ayer's teasing fans with pre-production images, I wouldn't be surprised
with a Jared Leto Joker reveal for the Clown Prince of Crime's 75th
birthday
