I'm a DC guy at heart, but I have to admit, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alone has more able, heroic, strong woman that Arrow/Flash/Gotham combined. DC always needs to put in some Lana Lang-type emo chick for teary-eyed close-ups.

Arrow: Sara, Nyssa, Laurel (Pretty bad ass now), Tea (bad ass too), Felicity (SHE IS THE GENIUS AND BRAINS OF THE SHOW).
Flash: Iris (not a damsel in distress or anything near a Lana Lang type emo chick); Caitlin Snow (EH, HELOOO, she becomes one of the most dangereous Firestorm and Flash villains, also she is a ultra genius physicist).
Gotham: well we have Selina Kyle and Fish Mooney there, not one of them near a Lana Lang type emo chick. Also what is wrong with Lana Lang?? Isnt she Clarks childhood best friend from Smallville who became a bad ass ingenier that fought a dangereous underground alien together with Superman (Action Comics #20-#29)

You know what shouldn't be allowable? Responses that accomplish nothing but to bitch about other's opinions without actually adding anything valuable to the conversation.

Yes. I could never get into Smallville because of her character. At least when I borrowed DVDs for it I could fast-forward all the Lana scenes.
I never once said that DC shows *lacked* some good female characters. But DC women quiver at a man's pecks, turn to goo when a hunky hero whispers something... all... the... time, all of the ones people have mentioned below. I just think of Agent May, Skye, Simmons, and Mocking Bird; none of them are "capable sidekicks" to anyone.
Again, I'm *not* a "Marvel guy" at all beyond movies and tv. My comment only relates to gender roles within these specific current tv shows (and I'm not even mentioning Agent Carter, well... whoops.)
I strongly disagree. Their characters are annoying as hell too. Only Felicity Smoak, Sarah Lance and Agent Carter are able to hold their own ground. That's just my opinion. It's not a fact, neither is your opinion.

So, women fall into 2 groups; girly girls & tomboys? No middle ground? MCU eliminated both women, but they didn't make unrealistic characters. I'm willing to bet you'll find more women in the middle then on either end.
Same token, you'll find white collar works who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get dirty. You'll find blue collar workers will to suit up as well.
Not girly girl, what he means to say is, DC covers up all the important problems and dilemma faced by a woman and how she remains strong, Marvel woman is just strong, that's it.

Aside from Agent Carter, I don't watch any of those shows, but doesn't Arrow & Flash suffer from the Lana factor because of their network? Look at the demographic of their key audience for most of their other shows.
I try to avoid the soap opera crap in this shows too, but flash is awesome, must watch IMO.
I've only heard good stuff about Flash, but I just don't have the time, nor find the character overall interesting to make the time. One of the primary reasons I watched Agent Carter was because it was 8 episodes. Finding the time to watch that was a chore at times.
Most of the TV I watch are either sports games, my 2yr old's shows, or my wife's shows. Then I can at least try to get reading or paperwork done.
I agree they tend to have a WUF in each show, I totally disagree that they don't ALSO have strong females too.
N I couldn't comment on Agents of S.N.O.R.E. because I gave up on that crapfest during season 1.

The New 52 has actually gotten some things right. Like officially making Barbara Kean, Barbara Gordon's biological mother. That's most likely what the show will go with. There's no way that the writers will pass on a Batgirl foreshadowing.

Really, the New 52 changed that too? I haven't read too much New 52 and am still used to the old continuity. I preferred the way it was previously, with Barbara being adopted and James Jr. being their only biological child.
The new 52 Batgirl is fantastic. Gail Simone changed that and made Barbara Kean the biological mother.

What was Babs before? Jim Gordon's niece/adopted daughter, who just so happened to have the same first name as his first wife. C'mon! That's pretty stupid and convoluted. As far as I'm concerned, Batgirl has been Jim Gordon's bio-daughter in the Adam West Batman show, Bruce Timm's DCAU, The Batman, Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Beware the Batman, and the Arkham video games.
Year One and its Year One Era sequels are my favorite stories, so I'm just used to that version of Babs. I think it made for a great story how she had some tragic backstory and was adopted to such a fucked up family. Made sense for her to have some motivation to become a vigilante, other than that being Bat-whatever is always cool.
The way Barbara Gordon has been written she would be just like her mom and dad. She doesn't act like an adopted child. She acts like she has a legitimate birth with a healthy and positive upbringing, and with more of those skills. Atleast her dad, because she has a lot of qualities like James Gordon where he couldn't raise that into an adopted child. The genetics of the parents gives similar traits like that. An adopted child can be intelligent but would be lacking that. I got the feeling that her mom would be James Gordon's wife and it just fit the Batwoman character. That's confusing with Barbara Gordon being the name of the mom and the daughter.
I just wish that Gotham would hold on to Morena Baccarin. I am in love.

Batman left the Catholic Church early when he found the conspiracy of the Sacred Order of Saint Dumas to go and investigate.
I don't see why her character isn't likeable. She looks so hot in those pictures. That's pretty good writing with them on the show. They haven't developed more indepth with stories such as with Ivy and Selina Kyle. It takes 2 seasons before there's more deep character development like that. I think she will have character growth with them. When is she going to have James Gordon's daughter. I like her and Dr. Leslie Thompkins too and that's neat. James Gordon is going to owe The Penguin a favor. Will Penguin grow to be old and fat after ten or twenty years. I can kind of see that even though he's skinny now. Would the actor be forced to do that when he gets older. That would be kind of odd, and it's fake to add makeup and other things to give that fat appearance.
