Earlier this week it was revealed that legendary comics artist Norm Breyfogle had suffered a stroke. While he is expected to make a full recovery, the left side of his body has been paralyzed, which is made even worse considering he's left-handed.
Sadly, like many artists in the comics industry, Breyfogle doesn't have insurance, so a crowd funding campaign has been set up here to help cover the costs of his hospital stay and medical bills. As of this post, the campaign has already raised almost $34,000 of the $200,000 goal, with 30 days left to contribute.
Breyfogle is best known for his late Eighties and early Nineties run on Batman comics with Alan Grant. Along with penciling both Detective Comics and Batman, he helped create characters such as Anarky, the Ventriloquist, and Victor Zsasz, while also providing pencils for one-shots such as the Elseworlds tale Batman: Holy Terror. In recent years he has contributed to more independently owned titles, but did return to DC to illustrate the Batman Beyond story "10,000 Clowns" by Adam Beechen.
