'LEGO Batman' movie will acknowledge every era of Batman filmmaking

Last month it was announced that Warner Bros. is making a LEGO Batman spinoff movie. Will Arnett will be back to reprise his role as Batman from The LEGO Movie and Chris Miller will be back to produce the movie. Empire caught up with Miller earlier this week, here's what he had to say about LEGO Batman:

"Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged. There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there. There are 40 versions of his origin story alone."

It sounds like Will Arnett is going to have a lot to play with... from Adam West to Christian Bale, and possibly even Ben Affleck. LEGO Batman is currently scheduled for a 2017 release.

The Dark Knight Trilogy considered best film trilogy in superhero genre. The second installment from the trilogy considered best superhero film in superhero genre. Which is also considered only masterpiece from the genre.
Christopher Nolan left so much legacy,which is 'almost' hard to surpass. What he did for superhero genre,WB,DC and cinema with the trilogy that is priceless. Respect!

  Man...the superhero movie´s genre is quite small. Not saying that TDK trillogy wasn't good, I enojoyed it a lot (not so much the ending though), but we still have lot's of superhero movies to come. Don't exagerate!!

      Hahaha good one Mr Gos!! It will indeed, but IMO we'll see some other really cool stuff down the road: and as a comic book fan, I really hope they amuse me as much if not MORE than TDK trillogy.

  I hope you're financially compensated for all your crowbarred props for Nolan's trilogy. I didn't see the post as being disrespectful to the trilogy. I agree it's the best Batman trilogy of movies, but I'm betting somewhere down the pike another Batman movie will be better. People who care to see this Lego version might think so.
  The trilogy will also be considered the best in the genre by those who think it is. It's not universally viewed that way & it probably won't always be viewed that way by a percentage of people who initially thought so.

It sounds like they're ignoring the serials. For a product of their time, they're pretty decent stories, especially Batman and Robin. The sci-fi elements were hokey, but still enjoyable.

      The point of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is bringing the super heroes of the DC Universe together. But with this Lego movie I just dont see a point.

    A Batman movie you can take your pre-teen nephew to, for one. The LEGO Movie managed to be something that both adults and kids could appreciate, in a manner that has rarely been done successfully since Jay Ward stopped making cartoons, and I expect something very similar from this film.
    And, of course, a gazillion dollars in revenue.

      Not just that. As a big Batman fan, I think there are too many Batman projects now. Just look at it, Batman v Superman, Arkham Knight, Gotham, Lego Batman 3, etc. Other heroes need the the spotlight too!

      As you said above, BvS is a proto-JLA, so it has plenty of other heroes.
      Arkham Knight I can't speak to, other than to observe from the outside that the Arkham series appears to be a monster cash cow. Same goes for the LEGO games series, and LEGO Batman 3 has actually turned into another proto-JLA from everything I've heard.
      Gotham? Have you heard of Arrow, The Flash, and Constantine? Not to mention that other show that ran on The WB/The CW for a full decade and wound up bringing in the freaking JSA before it was over? Gotham doesn't even have Batman in it; it just leverages the fact that his may be the only city in comics that has developed its own, distinct sense of place.
      If you will allow me, I'll elaborate on my earlier comment that this is "[a] Batman movie you can take your pre-teen nephew to." With the exception of the LEGO games, everything you mentioned is aimed at an older audience. The movies are PG-13, even most of the comics are aimed at people old enough to drive, and since the newsstand market and "Hey Kids! COMICS!" spinner racks have long since disappeared a lot of children don't get exposed to the actual books anymore at all. So consider the LEGO games and movies a way to introduce the characters to the next generation of post-Millennials.

The LEGO Batman stuff is where you can have a more kid-friendly version of Batman. I just hope they get the best two versions in the movie. Kingdom Come Batman and Dark Knight Returns Batman. And I'd like to see LEGO Will Arnett Batman interact with LEGO Kevin Conroy Batman.

I've never seen people grasp for straws as much as they did with TDK Trilogy. "Oh! Oh look! That detective has a little bit of a Brooklyn accent....that's "Nolan's Version" of Harvey Bullock!" The list goes on.

  I thought Arnold Flass was Nolan's Bullock (although Flass is already a character).
  There are countless other Easter Eggs, three notable ones- 1) Blake teasing Killer Croc "alligators in the sewers" 2) Fox teasing Mr. Freeze "cryo sleep" 3) Bane teasing the Red Hood with that red helmet and biker jacket. There are more but these are my favourites....

    You're exactly the type of person who I described as grasping at straws. That is, your seeing references where there are none.
    First off, Arnold Flass was Flass. Not Bullock. He was a different looking Flass than the character in Year One. But he's Flass, not meant to be a Bullock stand in. Why wouldn't they call him Harvey Bullock?
    1. If they meant to tease Killer Croc, they would have said "crocodiles in the sewers." You do know that crocodiles and alligators are not the same animal, right? Don't you'd think they'd get it right if they were making a reference?
    2. Possible, but I still think this was just incidental dialogue that Nolan/Goyer wrote up. I just truly don't believe it is a reference, but I'm not as adamant about it as I am #'s 1 & 3.
    3. Again, I'm quite sure it's just a red helmet. Red Hood doesn't wear a motorcycle helmet, he has a red shell around his head.
    Another thing that annoys me is when people say that Jen, Selena's friend, is "Nolan's version" of Holly Robinson. I always ask "Why wouldn't he just call her Holly?" and people haven't been able to give me an answer that makes sense. It just seems snobby; "Oh, he changed her name cuz those are COMIC BOOKS and Nolan's above those kiddy things."
    If he wanted to do a reference, he'd have done it.

      Hmm... I consider as Holly.... never thought her to be otherwise just b'coz she's named Jen. Blake is an amalgamation of every Robin before Damian, but never he's called as Grayson/Todd/Drake.

      I thought Jenn was a nod to Holly but I do not think that Nolan wanted to make them hookers like in year one. So the name change seperated them.
