'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' set videos and photos reveal Ben Affleck, car chases, and explosions

Over the past three days the long awaited Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice car chase scene was filmed. Unfortunately the Batmobile did not make an appearance like many fans had hoped, but we did get to see Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, explosions, smoke, car crashes, and more!

  Except it was. In 1989. With one movie. The Dark Knight Trilogy, when taken as a whole, is not very good overall. One decent movie, one great movie, and then one bad movie to balance all out to just decent.

    Really? You're going to say Batman Begins, which took half the movie for Batman to actually begin, and The Dark Knight Rises, which has plot holes and characters suddenly going through a mood swing(WTF Alfred?!), are great? While I enjoy both, neither of them are really good movies. The only standout part of TDKR is Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. And technically, none of them have Batman in his true element as a great detective and martial arts master. Instead, we get a thug with a penchant for street brawling who has had way too many cigarettes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the trilogy, definitely better than Batman and Robin(but what isn't?), but The Dark Knight was the best of the bunch.
    Sorry for ranting a bit, but I get a bit annoyed when people claim those movies to be the end-all/be-all of Batman movies when they're not. Even Heath Ledger's Joker, while excellent, wasn't the best Joker performance we've ever gotten. He had parts of it, and I think a lot of it comes from the movie trying to push the "I don't have plans" bit down our throats when he was just saying that crap to break Dent.
    Now, am I saying that this means Affleck will be amazing? I don't know. The costume and his physique show that he looks the part. But looking and acting are two different things. As someone who enjoyed Daredevil(The Director's Cut is the only one I've seen though), I don't think it's a bad choice. And everyone was saying in the beginning that Ledger was a horrible choice for Joker. I truly think we're seeing something similar for Affleck and Gadot.

      No, it wasn't. He encompassed a great deal of the Joker, but he didn't have any of the rather funny and goofy moments. He was too serious. Alfred went back on something he had been saying for two movies. He said he would never give up on Bruce, and then he did. As for plot holes, how the hell can you say nonexistent? 1) How did Bruce not figure out that the "child" that escaped from the prison wasn't Bane? 2) How did Bruce recover from a broken spine so fast? 3) What exactly was Talia's plan? Was she always intending to die for it? 4) Why did Bane not leave guards at that prison where he knows there's a big hole and the prisoners daily attempt to climb to freedom? 5) How did Bruce, who no longer had any money or resources, manage to make it back to Gotham from the Middle East before the bomb went off? 6) So Bruce vanished from civilian life for 8 years and also stopped going out as Batman and NO ONE was suspicious?! 7) John Blake met Bruce once and, instead of figuring it out like a detective ala. Tim Drake, just magically knew that Bruce Wayne was Batman? And 8) How did Batman get the nuke far enough away from Gotham to avoid fallout? There wasn't enough time and he wasn't smart enough to just dump the damn thing in the bay, and let's not forget the idiocy that he somehow survived.

      I hate hearing about all these supposed "Plot holes" that every wanna be film critic comes up with. All they show is a predetermined dislike for what is one of, if not the, best received trilogies in film.
      1. How did Bruce not figure out that the child was not Bane? What was it that was supposed to make it so obvious to him? Seriously. This is a new one and that someone could consider it a "plot hole" enrages me. Do you literally sit back after watching a movie in its entirety and, having information characters did not have at the time, question said characters judgment?
      2. How did bruce recover from a broken back? How do we know the extent of his injuries? Your taking the word of a prison "doctor" and assuming that 1) the diagnosis is correct and 2) that it's of a severe enough nature to take some asinine amount of time to recover from. All we can know from the film is Bruce was injured and had sufficient time to heal.
      3. What was Talia's plan? That you don't know this makes me question if you have seen the film. If not I suggest that you watch it before criticizing it. If you have seen it then you should remember that as she was about to pull the trigger for the bomb she was, you know, there... I think success in destroying Gotham and fulfilling her fathers destiny was more important to her than anything else. All of this was made perfectly clear in the film.
      4. Bane didn't leave guards at the prison because he deemed it inescapable, underestimated Bruce, and was probably a bit too confident in himself. Asking why there were no guards when no one had escaped is like asking why weren't there sea mines around Alcatraz or a fence outside of every fence incase someone climbs the first one. I mean seriously that wall had to be at least a hundred feet tall and most prisons just have a 15' fence with a little razor wire.
      5. How did bruce make it back with no money or resources? This is the most amateurish complaint against this movie. So the man who made it from Gotham to Southeast Asia with no money or resources in Batman Begins, after extensive training, could simply make it back? Seeing anything explaining this would be stupid and unnecessary. That people complain this banal scene wasn't included is baffling.
      6. Bruce came back, Batman came back, and people did notice it seemed pretty obvious to Selina, Blake and Miranda at least. These also happen to be the only people who really notice that Bruce is back. Oh yeah, remember when he broke all the photographers cameras with an EMP? Huh, seems like he might have done that for a reason. So how many people actually knew bruce wayne came back the same night Batman did? A few dozen at most? What would their knowledge of this even prove? Nothing.
      7. Does literally no one get that he just had a lucky feeling? He acted off of a gut reaction that happened to be right. It's perfectly believable. We have these intuitions daily but most of us ignore them, he chose to act on them.
      8. The clock reads 2:00 before he begins to leave the city, if the bat could only go 300mph he could still travel 10 miles in two minutes. More than far enough.

      1= The child could easially have been anyone. And Bane had already stated before this he was born in the darkness and there are other pointers even from what they say about the league of shadows. Everything bruce is told about that child points to Bane.
      2= He didnt break hes back, it was a misplaced piece of vertebrae which was pushed back in by the prison doctor.
      3=Talia was the real leader of the league of shadows henchmen, she wanted to finish the work of her father Raz algul, who she blames batman for hes death.
      4=As far as bane is concerned, Batman could not recover from that injury on his own and believed he would never be able to climb the hole, he had no idea there would be a doctor so willing to help him, which is shown when Bane sees the burning bat sign and says in shock "impossible"
      5=This is Bruce Wayne/Batman. You would expect him to have assets everywhere and even allies.
      6= Bruce didnt vanish, He simply became known as a social recluse and was mad and broken, people were shown signs of this in the first film. Its easy to see how people think a frail man with a walking stick who hides in the house could never be batman
      7= I kinda agree with this, but i wouldnt call this a film ruining plot hole. Just that he saw anger in bruces eyes and thought he was acting.
      8= Fox is clearly told by workers at the end of the film that the Bat software for auto pilot had been fixed by an unknown source thus telling us bruce fixed it and the bat had autopilot. And in terms of hi not having time to get away. there are plenty of times in film where time is displaced so we see other scenes happening at the same time.
      Ive enjoyed this! I just dont agree with all these plot holes youve brought up because if you watch the film you will see there are reasons explaining all these. The only loose one you really have is the blake suspision about batman
      But again im sure others will agree with me, none of these are really legitimate enough to be called "plot holes"
      And also with the joker performance. Nolan is trying to portray a mad man who kills people dressed up as a clown. In the real world he wouldnt be giving punch lines. And there actually are a few light hearted moments where the joker does give off a bit of a comical side ("whos driving the bus", the pencil magic trick, the remote detonator not working outside hospital) he is slightly light hearted comical but in a completely insane way like you would expect
      One final note....cant wait for BvS!!!!

      yeah but this was a completely different type of batman, you had to spend the majority of the film showing how he came to be batman, and in terms of the plot holes, this was always going to be a trilogy and unfortunately you are only loud a maximum run time in films, so they have to fit in what they can. And you say he is a thug brawler? even though they spend the first film showing him being trained as a ninja and how to take on multiple enemies and large groups at once? Its good to have a good reason for how batman knows how to take on large gangs just by himself, and to also see why hes suit came to be made and look like what it does.
      They also did show the detective skills in begins with the listening in, and also with the dark knight in how he analyses the bullet and goes to the apartment as bruce wayne,
      I get what your saying though. A lot of people say they are the best batman movies yet. I still for one love Batman 89, i just think it had such a good look and feel. But even in that you see less of him being a detective and fighter.
      Im sorry to say it but I do think heath Ledgers joker was brilliant. I dont think it can be compared with the keaton film. Because the keaton film was done by Tim Burton whos films are always dark and played out like a fantasy story. Where as Nolans was played out as a real story and a real world like ours today. and lets be honest, anyone who runs around killing people with a clown face needs to be depicted as being mad with no plan. the films are Two different worlds tho and cant be compared that much.
      I think batman begins is a really good origin story and a great film like Keatons. The dark knight, lets be honest, was epic as a film on its own. TDKR was great looking and great seeing batman in action, but it did look a little like they tried to fit too much into one film to finish the trilogy. I.e broken back, alfred leaving, city held hostage, atomic bombs, bruce wayne death etc. Thats a lot to fit in one film and guess it would have been better to split into two parts, still a good watch tho

    A lot of comic book fans dont rate the dark knight trilogy, but this is because it was nothing really like the comics. and it wasnt ment to be, The film was made to show that If that situation could happen with a man becoming a crime fighter (Batman) then in our world how realistically could this happen etc. So it cant be anything really like a comic book. If anything it was good for the comic book universe because it would have introduced people who dont normally have interest in seeing super hero films to the comic book super hero universe. and i think this was done in man of steel. If you realistically had an alien from another planet as depicted in supermans story, then how would this person realistically deal with being different, an alien, and how realistically would the world and public deal with seeing a demi god smash up a city. In reality he would be portrayed as monster, which i think will be the setting of the beginning of BvS.
    i think WB and snyder are doing great, they are bringing in DC comic book characters into the real modern world and unfortunately you have to change some aspects of how they are shown in the comic, because it just wouldnt work

  I dont think any of the films are the crowning jewel, i think they are all so different. Although batman 89 and dark knight trilogy are top of the pile, but too different to compare. Afflecks batman is looking like it will be a lot more comic book linked which will be nice to see

      Ah i was only referring to batman films. Superman the Movie was a great film. But lets be honest no where near as good looks wise as man of steel. But again same with batman 89 and nolan trilogy. Different films was different eras so you cant really compare.

      I combine whole superhero genre based films. So Nolan trilogy,Tim's first Batman film,Superman: TM in top of the genre. I mean if you think about top five superhero films 4 minimum DC films. Nolan all Batman films will be there. Superman the movie also deserve to be in top five. Watchmen too. Tim's first Batman also deserve to be in top five.

Bruce Wayne, the persona, in itself is an act. So, if Ben Affleck comes across like he's acting when he's playing Bruce Wayne... then he's doing it right.

That he looks like Bruce Wayne doesn't matter too much, honestly. He's tall, buff looking white guy with a full head of hair; not too difficult to nail. I think people put way too much stock into the Bruce Wayne persona considering that Bruce Wayne, in Batmans mind, is the disguise. As long as you're a good looking, tall white guy who is capable of acting like a douche you can be Bruce Wayne, so most actors.

Don't get me wrong, that's not to say that I have no faith in Affleck because he managed to nail the look of a part that most actors can nail. In fact, I have the utmost confidence that he will be the best live action Batman we've ever seen. The suit is, without a doubt, the best looking since the '89 Batman and I'm sure they will direct him in such a way that he's actually intimidating, unlike Bale.

I recall Keaton stating playing Bruce was actually the challenging role. You can look the part (though Affleck looks more like Affleck then Bruce to me), playing the character takes more.

Actually in a lot of Batman stories Bruce is depicted as a businessman in control of his company. He has been depicted as both plenty of times.

he is a great solid actor. people keep bringing up his earlier work i.e dare devil for example. But these films were made years ago when he was in hes late 20s, he is a 40 plus year old man now, different person and actor completely. Anyone who has watched Argo or The Town would agree

I know its too early, I still can't handle the fact that he is playing Batman. We will give him the chance, its just daredevil left a terrible mark on us. BUT>>>> This film has a lot of potential and sorry Burton fans, but The Nolan Franchise set the bar high!

Ha I get you when i first heard it was affleck i almost cried BUT im defo gonna look forward to it and hope his recent great films will make him great in this. Ive always said it will either be completely terrible or absolutly amazing!
Dark knight trilogy set the bar high for any hero film after that but its gonna be cool to see a batman more closely taken from the comics like snyder has said he wants

Truthfully, I think this is a double-edged sword. Casting Affleck to be the Batman in the new DCCU has several benefits, including Ben's celebrity status. It also can hurt the new DCCU. No matter what movie I watch with Affleck, I never see him as the character he's playing; just Ben Affleck. When I see the photo above, I don't think "cool, its Bruce Wayne." I think "its Ben Affleck."
When I first saw Bale, I didn't think "Christian Bale." Same for Tobey Maguire, Chris Evans, Renner, & Cavill. Granted, Affleck is a bigger star then they are all combined, but I think that could hurt the casting.
We'll see though. Its a constant concern with casting Affleck (actually my main concerned), but I won't know until I see the movie.

I doubt he would be older than Bruce in TDKR, because there are 8 years between TDK and TDKR...

I'm not sure that's accurate. You figure Bruce was 25-27 when he returned to Gotham in Begins. He spent another year as Batman before "disappearing." I'd say the Batman who returned in TDKR was still under 40. BvS's Batman is supposed to be 45-50.

  The party at the end of Begins was supposed to be his 30th birthday party. So he should be 39 in Rises. But I'd rather make it an even 40. They certainly made him LOOK older than 40. I'm 38 and I'm still waiting to get those awesome gray temples.

I personally think Ben will do fine as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and seriously the haters just need to take it somewhere else. Why waste your time posting about how you dislike his acting abilities, the way he looks, ect. I get that you have a right to freedom of speech, but c'mon. You clearly don't like the movie, and you don't want to see it. That's fine, don't buy the ticket. Don't see the movie. Why come here, not only blasting at this movie but comment negatively and try to put people down that like the movie. Or have anything positive to say about it? In the long run what will you accomplish? Nothing. Honestly I'm just glad we're getting an big screen version of two of my favorite heroes on screen, and that I'm around to see it. And that we have a director that's given us the closest source material version of one of those characters (Batman). I guess I'm just tired of seeing all the negativity, it amazes me how rude people are to each other. Grow up.
