The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice release date has been changed yet again! Warner Bros. just announced that the movie will now be released on March 25th, 2016. Happy birthday to me... I'll turn 28 on that day!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was originally scheduled for a July 17th, 2015 release but was pushed to May 6th, 2016 earlier this year. That's the same day that Captain America 3 is scheduled to be released, and it looks like Warner Bros. wanted to move their big movie to avoid competition and maximize ticket sales.

This is the first time a Batman movie won't be released in the summer with all of the other blockbusters. "If you have a great film, people will come no matter when it's dated,” Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of Warner Bros. international distribution, told Variety. "It’s a bold move, but we’re taking it because we think it’s such a great film."

"With so many tentpole films now there is no traditional everybody-need-to-go-in-the-summer corridor," she continued. "Now the movie defines the corridor."

Warner Bros. also announced 9 other untitled DC movies today. Here are their release dates:

        What if it is crisis events? That would probably break records with all the heroes.
        It could also fix some movie stuff (if people complain about Bruce Wayne being to old they could make him like 30,if people don't like how a character is portaged or if they down like the movie they could change it) it would also surprise no comic book readers with the deaths like Barry Allen and the Bruce Wayne back in time thing (Bruce Wayne drawing the bat symbol on a cave wall could be the best after credit scene ever!)

    Very doubtful that Sandman will be in the DCCU. Pretty sure they said it wouldn't at one point.
    And If it's anywhere near source material, it will be rated R.
    Also they said they were planning on a flash/GL movie. So that will probably be in there.

      Yeah, it would have to be R considering how Despair is a naked character and other things. But it should be part of the DC U but not have it's events influence too much of the rest of the movies that will be PG-13.
      Like in MOS, I like to think that in the far background Morpheus was floating in the air, watching Zod & Superman dreaming the fate of Earth. Then Morpheus waves his arm and Superman wakes up. That would've bee a cool cameo.

      Sandman won't be a part of the DC Cinematic Universe, but it is still a DC movie, so it does take one of the 9 release dates.

      Dang, when I saw the name, my first thought was that it meant the old knock-off of the Green Hornet with a yellow gas mask Sandman. That might be an okay movie. The other Sandman is going to blow unless they actually get Neil Gaiman to write it. They will take bits and pieces of different stories, change things they should have left alone, and absurdly miscast key roles.

      It's a vast universe like Harry Potter or LOTR with a lot of fantasy, creatures, worlds, cerebral themes and interesting drama. I can see your point but it's worth checking out at a local library or someplace cheap since it's a giant story arc divided into 10 volumes over the span of 8(?) years with Vertigo.

  I’m a little dubious about Untitled DC Film - 08/05/16 and Untitled DC Film - 11/17/17. Those two sound like they could be bombs. However, I’m very hopeful for Untitled DC Film - 06/23/17, and Untitled DC Film - 07/27/18 sounds awesome!

Good move. Now it will be more easy to cross 1.5-1.6 billion. If they release on that previous date still it cross billion,but can not cross 1.5. May be. But this is very good. Some days reduced.

        Dude, The Avengers (a relatively unknown comic book property to mainstream culture not too long ago) amassed 1.5 billion dollars. It found mainstream success thanks to previous movies Iron Man 1 & 2, Cap 1, and Thor 1.
        Do you not think that when 2 of the 3 most popular and recognizable superheroes of all time make history by being in the same movie for the first time, that movie won't make 1.5 billion dollars as well? That's not even counting the fact that the most famous female superhero of all time is in it too.
        And if Iron Man 3, being one of the worst comic book movies ever created, can make 1.4 billion, can't Batman v Superman make just as much by being a good comic book movie?

        You answered your own question. Avengers found mainstream success thanks to their previous movies. If Batman vs Superman had that track record of success leading up to it it'd be another story. If they were coming off a bunch of hit movies starring these characters and were teaming them up, then sure.

        The thing is, I think DC has their work cut out for them. People have always loved Batman, because his ratio of good films and bad films is more on the "good" side. Superman himself is easily recognizable, and his film made $600 million even if the violence and seriousness upset people. Not to mention that the Justice League cartoons were extremely popular, so it isn't like Green Lantern or the Flash are complete nobodies, and the CW version of Arrow has made Oliver Queen popular. A very angsty, brooding, CW-ized Oliver Queen, but still, there's a market for the Emerald Archer out there.

        The ONLY redeeming thing I found in this movie was what everybody hated, the Mandarin swerve. I loved Kingsley playing such a goof. But everything else was awful. Downey has completely given up on acting, he simply plays himself in every role, a schmarmy too cool for the room annoying douche. 75% of the movie didn't even have Iron Man in it. It was just Downey hanging out with some annoying dipshit little kid. The entire point of the movie seemed to be that Tony Stark is Iron Man even when he's not in the suit. Yet the climax of the movie featured a bunch of empty Iron Man suits saving the day proving that Iron Man is the suit with or without Tony, completely undermining the point of the rest of the movie.

        I actually like the Mandarin switch too. I actually dig how Stark had to come to grips with nearly dying in New York & proving he's more then a suit. Since the empty suits got trashed by the Extremists, couldn't you say they're nothing without Stark inside?
        Although I do agree about RDJ's current acting style is essentially himself, he did kinda start that with Stark. I expect that from Stark at this point...not his other roles, though.

        Of course. The guy + the suit = Iron Man. There is not one without the other. But I just hated how the movie was giving one message for 90% of the movie and then there was that other 10% that undermined it. As soon as it happened I was scratching my head. It just felt so wrong after everything that came before it.
        I was so ecstatic when Downey capped off his rebound with Iron Man. I used to love that guy. One of my favorite actors high or not. But now it's like he's in every other movie and he's always playing that same role...I can't even watch anything he's in anymore. I will watch anything remotely related to Sherlock Holmes and he's even taken that away from me!!! Bastard!

        - Yeah, Disney is great at conveying messages like that. First Captain America wanted to tell you that if you're the lamest kid in the group, if bullies make fun of you cause you're weak, you shouldn't feel bad... because you can use sci-fi steroids and become a hero.     If you understand the wait of Batman,Wonder Woman and Superman,you can not expect under 1.5 billion from this film. Also cameos from others. Most important is last two Batman films cross billion back to back. With out any help of team-up films. With out 3D. I belive if parts are in right position then 1.6 also very much possible.

      The last two Batman films were sequels to a Batman movie that was near universally loved made by a well respected director and a well respected actor leading a cast of A list talent in some of the best casting choices ever. Not to mention the addition of Heath Ledger's once in a lifetime performance coupled with his death.
      BvS is following up a MoS movie that was one of the most divisive superhero movies ever made by a widely hated director, with one of the most hated actors of the last 20 years as Batman and a cast filled with actors that have done nothing but lead to anger, shrugs and WTFs?
      It doesn't matter how long people have waited for this. If the movie doesn't manage to please the MoS haters, if Affleck doesn't knock the ball out of the park, if Gal Gadot doesn't prove worthy of her role, if the story doesn't manage to stand on it's own under the burden of all these cameos and foreshadowing...even 1 billion is a stretch.

        Go around the internet and look up any jokes about "Nolan's dark, gritty reboot" or just watch it with anyone who remembers Batman and Robin or the 60's West Batman. Batman didn't suffer for it though because people can handle a darker Batman, like the Burton movies.

      I don't think your average viewer cares about any of the cameos, just the Trinity. I don't think they'll be an added selling point...or at least a small selling point.
      And Nolan did shoot a couple scenes in TDK & even more in TDKR in IMAX format, so to some extent, that was a "gimmick." The only reason the movies weren't in 3D is because Nolan is a director with enough pull to deny the studio request for it & get away with it.

After watching Public Enimes and TDKR and a few other animated movies I feel there are so many angles they could go with in the DCU. Didn't they already announce a WW, JL, Green Lanter/Flash, & Shazam? Or was that unconfirmed. I don't get how they have all these "untitled" projects?

  That was reported by Nikki Finke, but never confirmed by WB. I'm sure those movies are on this list though. I'm also sure some of those, like the films through 2017 will be announced within the next few months.

This is a great move on DC/WB's part. Not that Cap 3 would stand a chance against this opening weekend, but it would've gotten some ticket sales from BvS. I know it would've gotten mine because my wife likes to see Marvel movies opening weekend & has no interest in Superman (even if Batman is also in the movie.)
Plus, there'll be nothing to retard BvS from its record breaking numbers.
I do find it curious that a couple months ago, the DCCU timeline was set with specific movies. This one is untitled throughout the timeline. That concerns me there really isn't a plan beyond BvS & JLA.

  Bvs is biggest project in superhero genre. And the film have top two heroes from superhero category. Top character from superheroin category. Also great comic book characters like Aquaman,Cyborg etc as a cameo. May be more. Actually is lots of positives. What Marvel followers can not see. WB also release a schedule of 9 DC films until 2020. They have strong plan. They will release bvs two month early,which js also a good sign that they believe their product will be ready early. We can see more early now. Also if they dont move both films can not collect what they deserve. So it is good for both films. Calling WB blink is not real case if you look at this incident more seriously. If they release it old date still bvs cross 1.2-1.3 bn. But struggle to cross 1.5 or 1.6 bn. And ca will not able cross 700 ml. If you are good at how box office work you can not expect ca3 can surpass ca2 bo. But now ground is open for both films. This good. WB blink totally childish and immature comment.

    I don't think DC/WB "blinked", just realize there's more benefits for them to move the date; and I don't think even Marvel fanboys truly believe Cap 3 would've stood a chance opening weekend against BvS.
    You lost me with "what the Marvel followers cannot see" comment though. They can't see that a Batman movie is successful, and adding Kent would be even more successful?
    It doesn't concern you there are a lot of "untitled" movies for those dates? DC/WB already indicated what movies are to be released in what years, they couldn't have assigned them dates yet? THAT has me concerned there's a skeleton plan, but no meat on it yet.

Can you see that the reason why Marvel Studios has surpassed in 6 years what DC made in profits all of their 33 years making movies, is that Marvel heroes are as popular, if not more so in some cases, than DC heroes? Doesn't look like you can. That's why you have to repeat the same "DC characters are more popular" line to convince yourself that Guardians of the Galaxy and all the Marvel films aren't really happening. You say the claim that "DC blinked" is childish, yet you keep downplaying Marvel's success...I bet you were just praying for Marvel to move CA3 so you could say they were the ones to blink because DC is sooo much better.

Meanwhile you were convinced DC would stick to the date because you thought BvS would destroy CA3. I'm not surprised to see you change your tune to protect your ego.

        I said in past that if Bvs and ca3 release same date still bvs able to cross billion but can not cross 1.5 billion. And ca 3 will collect low than ca 2. Ca not cross 700 ml. I don't say if both film release same date bvs still easily cross 1.5 or 1.6 bn.

        Like I said before, you're blinded by fanboyism, just wishing and trying to live this fantasy where BvS beats Avengers. It won't happen, just like MoS couldn't beat CA2, just like DC taking Marvel's date didn't happen.
        BvS makes 1.2 billion tops, if they have a great film. If they had stuck to the date, they'd have peaked at 850 million.

      33 years? What kind of contrivance do you have to come up with to get 33 years (that being 1981)? If we want to go all-in, I suggest 71 years for DC, going back to the first Batman serial (and I also want to adjust for inflation, particularly for the 1966 Batman and the Chris Reeve Superman series). Plus, the "Marvel heroes" that are most popular, the X-Men, aren't even IN films made by Marvel Studios; if RDJ hadn't been such a great pick for Tony Stark, the whole MCU would never have gotten a chance to live down the two Hulk movies.
      But even that's beside the point. Arguing the P&L within the narrow window of superhero movies is pointless, because the real bosses at DC - meaning the bosses at the top of Time-Warner - have barely begun looking at a DCCU because they're still counting the money from Harry Potter (and believe me, they're collecting some decent coin from Universal for the theme parks). It's not really a valid comparison. But Marvel fanboys have to jump up and down and point to it because they can't accept the reality that, no matter how long X-Men (Uncanny, etc.) has been at the top of the monthly sales charts, no matter how much money their films make, DC's main characters, particularly the trinity, are deep cultural touchstones in the USA in a way that none of Marvel's (except possibly Cap) never will be. The mainstream press wouldn't blink an eye if Marvel killed off Wolverine; the death of Superman was front-page news in papers across the country, as was the cover of Crisis #7, the death of Supergirl, before that. Take a look at feminist-oriented sites and publications like Jezebel, Feministing, and Ms. Magazine, and you'll see that while they'll say that Black Widow is a nice-to-have and they're glad she was fully clothed, mess up Wonder Woman and you'll have every second- and third-wave feminist from Hillary Clinton on down coming for your head. Batman has become so deeply engrained into our collective psyche that Warner Bros. turned him over to a big-budget auteur-driven deconstructionist narrative that became three of the highest-grossing films in history; I doubt Disney will let anyone be so bold with one of their key characters, Marvel or otherwise.
      So, crow about the box office totals all you want, secure in the knowledge but nobody inside either Disney or WB (except for the most anal, scheming twerp assistant in marketing -- think Ellis from "Smash") really cares about the p***ing contest aspects, and outside in the real world no one other than foolish zombies for either side really cares either. Truth be told, I don't actually care about this inane, non-existent competition myself; I'm on vacation and drank a big glass of Coke so I had time to type this out, and I just think you're f*cking annoying.

        Sorry, 33 years is what I calculated was the time WB has been making DC movies; it's actually 36 years.
        Anyways, you can talk "cultural touchstones" all you want - that's just bragging points nobody but DC fanboys care about. People will obviously not buy into MoS because of the sentimental value of the character. The only relevant factor is a good story, and Marvel provides that, both in comics and in movies. And especially given the results of the last few years since they established their cinematic universe, if anybody has to be jealous of the other, it's DC, and it shows in the way they've followed Marvel's lead.

        WB obviously see from marvel releasing films earlier in the year that money can be made for that time and chose to rubber stamp a date then before someone else came along.

        The original article (and common sense) clearly state that this was done as a response to Marvel announcing the CA3 release date. There's nothing to gain by lying about or hiding from this.
        Here's a fun trick: pretend like you are the only person in the world who will see BvS or any other movie. This cuts through the mania of trying to control other people's feelings about the movie and its marketing.

  Listen, i love Batman more than any property, but of course WB got scared.
  Here's a timeline of the May 6th release date...
  - Marvel schedules a film to be released on that date.
  - Then WB moved in on it.
  - Marvel opens Cap 2 to universal acclaim. it makes more money than Man of Steel.
  - Marvel releases Guardians to universal acclaim. It makes more money in its first 5 days than Cap 2 did and nobody knew who they were.
  - It becomes clear that Marvel establishes brand trust.
  Of course they balked. Cap 2 would be coming off the Avengers 2 wave, and the wave from Avengers 2 pushed Iron Man 3 to 1.5 billion. The Marvel brand is becoming the selling point. Batman isn't enough... It doesn't help that WB is keeping Snyder after MoS was critically panned.

    Saying WB got scared is the same as saying BvS "won" Comic-Con.
    It is a smart decision as none of the shareholder's from either company would allow 2 tentpole movies to open on the same day. The decision is not compelled by fear.

      I probably wouldn't use the word "scared". But this move was absolutely motivated by DC's admission that CA3 definitely has(or had) the capacity to take a sizeable chunk out of their most critical film to date, as much as fans would hate to admit.

        Dude, even before the move was announced, there were sites bringing up how this wouldn't have ended well for either film, although Cinema Sins put up a hilariously good argument about why Cap 3 wouldn't survive against a combined Batman and Superman, even if it starred RDJ and was directed by Christopher Nolan and BVS was directed by Bret Ratner.
        Simply put, one movie has Batman and Superman, the other does not.

        We already talked about this when it was originally announced. I've already said before that both films would suffer; I never argued otherwise. That's not the point. The point was that DC had the most to lose from going up against CA3, and that's why they shouldn't have picked that date. People think it's about BvS making more money than CA3 or viceversa; it's not, that's why the video you posted is flawed and misses the real issue.
