Flicks And The City participated in a lengthy roundtable interview with Adam West last weekend at Comic-Con. The TV Batman actor talked about everything from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to even the possibility of playing a villain on Gotham... just wait until you hear which Batman villain he'd like to play!

West also talks about his Batman TV show and the upcoming video game LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which he stars in as himself. There's some stuff in there for all you Family Guy fans too, plus lots more. It's a great interview, check it out!

Loved the Green Hornet episodes of the 60's tv series, but I always wondered why they never did one with Superman. What George Reeves felt he was too good enough for it, what could he have possibly been doing at that time?

    Suicide ... or he was murdered. There were a lot of holes in the investigation and it was never actually carried out well at all. If you research the story behind it, it really does seem pretty suspect still.

      I really like the new logo. Suits the Batman style they're going for with Affleck. Certainly better than the bat symbol on the TDR and TDKR suit IMO.

      It's from Frank Miller's TDKR which Snyder is obsessed about. I hope he makes a live action Dark Knight Returns but replace Superman with some hero nobody likes. For example, Superman was not cannon at all in TDKR so replace him with a lesser known character that nobody cares about

        For me, sorry to be boring but Keaton comes first cos of just how cool it was when it come out. But the TDK out of them all was epic and fit well into modern times. Afflecks looks pretty legendary but need to wait and get more viewing before it can be put up there with them two!

  I was actualy hoping they would base Affleck Batman on the new arkham knight Batman, they look very similar! BUT guess not, the new costume still looks cool though, still not so sure about that logo..

    yeh from the Comic Con footage we have seen so far I think the film is going to be epic and this Batman will be epic, so i think ill be easially swayed to accepting the big symbol when i see it in action, plus even though i like the old ones its very nice to see something completely different and out of the miller comics

    I hate that bat symbol. It's the shittest bat symbol ever and not very cool at all. It looks too much like a rectangle and not enough like a bat. The bat symbol is such an easy thing to make look super cool. Besides that, I think the batsuit looks pretty awesome.

    Perhaps it won't be in the Arkham verse but I picture Ben Affleck's Batman as a mix between Kevin Conroy's Kevin McKidd's voice with the attitude of Arkham Batman, Frank Miller's Batman and have Arkham Batman's gadgets. It is sad that it won't be in the same universe but it could be similar to the Arkham one. That's what I'm hoping for

    What about the best Batmobile? I choose Affleck which looks like Tower of Babel (JL:Doom) Batmobile and Arkham Batmobile. The design of the Tumbler was really stupid but it packed lots of fire and I liked Keaton's too

  I really like Bales performance but I dont think Bales Batman stuck with the comics, but i get why, because they wanted to portray it as If that character existed in the real world we live in, how could it happen to be as realistic as possible (while also making it entertaining), so its a bit different to any other context of Batman

    Plus weve never really had a Batman origin movie! which was nice to see! I dont mind them rebooting the character a lot, its nice to see different takes and ideas! would love to have seen Josh Brolin as an older Batman tho! but think Affleck will be good!

        Yeh thats why i love batman begins, the whole origin part in the first half was interesting and great to see for once. TDKR was epic up to when you first see batman return, then seems to lose itself a bit, still good tho! TDK was amazing.

        Nolan's all three Batman films are great work in superhero genre. But in own way. Three films are great in different different way. Batman Begins is great origins based superhero film,the best origin based superhero film in the superhero genre. TDK is best superhero film. But most TDK's greatness is in storyline (bb,tdkr stroylines no doubt great),acting,cinematography,music. TDKR's greatness also acting,cinematography,music,and most especially ending,ending of a trilogy. All three is great films. But second one goes in next level. TDK is masterpiece. BB,TDKR is great. But i find BB,TDKR more watchable than TDKR.

    Adam's Batman version is insult as Batman. Of Batman. Batman is not that 60s Batman. Jim Lee also said 60s Batman is awful. I just lose my mind when i see people love and accept Adam's Batman and hate Bale's. They are pathetic people. Like 60s Batman. a big joke. a ugly joke. Bah! It is nothing short of nightmare (60s Batman) to me.

      Yeah agreed the Adams Batman doesnt come close any of the rest in terms of the rest, but i did love watching it as a kid! Guess its just a more child orientated batman. Not the Batman that beats people to a pulp in dark alleys that we are used to now. But yeh Adams defo not as good as bale. Not close. Different Batmans completely though

        Agree. But at the end of the day you can't even drag that 60s Batman to talk. 60s Batman don't deserve to take that seriously. TDKR Batman is example. Batman: The Animated Series Batman is example. Nolan's Batman films Batman is example. But 60s Batman is just for laugh (to me just nightmare nothing more than that).

        But it (60s Batman) is successful. At the end of the day if your work is successful then people can forgive everything. But Bale is best as both in live-action films. Keaton is not best.

        Nolan's take was realistic,grounded,serious. And i really really like his films. He is also the best director of this era of filmmaking. DC fans need to understand his take and feel proud about his work. But maximum are insulting him. They are nobody. Under 18 maximum. Those are adult films.         You're 100% wrong about Batman. From your comments I'd guess you'd never read a Batman comic in your life! Nolan's Batman was garbage BECAUSE he tried to be hyper-realistic. Seriously, take the voice! Batman's voice was all crappy because he wanted to disguise it, but in the end he ended up sounding like something you'd find in the Muppets. I laughed out loud at the end of TDK during Batman and Joker's conversation, because Batman's cartoon-monster voice did not belong in this serious film world, and hearing him talk about how good the people of Gotham were... I'm sorry, it was a funny joke, not a Batman voice! And dang, did he screw up Batman's gadgets and character.
        In the Nolan films Batman didn't even make ONE of his gadgets aside from the batarangs. He got all his technology from Fox and Wayne Enterprises. In the comics, Batman is very scientifically knowledgeable, and would have created and designed almost all of his gadgets. In the Nolan movies every time he had a problem he just went to Fox, and Bam, Fox gives him a new toy. It would have been fun to see Bruce design his gadgets for different situations. That's not even mentioning Nolan forgetting about Batman being the World's Greatest Detective. The only real detective work he does is in TDK on Joker's bullet, and surprise surprise, he needs to go to Fox to find the answer because he and Alfred apparently can't do it themselves. Nolan screwed up Batman's fighting style as well, turning Batman's 100+ mastered fighting styles into some slightly fancy punches and kicks. He mucked up Bruce's character by having Bruce not really want to be Batman at all. I don't care if the Dent Act was in place, Batman would never stop being Batman, not if all there was to fight out there was purse-snatchers and pimps. Batman would still never stop fighting crime. Not to mention the end of TDKR, where Batman goes and fakes his death to abandon Gotham, even though all those prisoners and criminals are still on the loose. Nope, he just says screw Gotham and goes to drink tea with Catwoman. BATMAN WOULD NEVER ABANDON GOTHAM LIKE THAT. Heck the film would have been better in Batman had ACTUALLY died in the explosion. Least Nolan's Batman wouldn't be a dick.
        Tie that up with the fact that Bale looks nothing like Batman, (He has a pointy jaw, a thin face, and BROWN HAIR!) and we come up with one of the worst interpretations of a superhero to ever hit the big screen!

        His DC characters doesnt introduce comic book versions. I know. His own take he apply on DCU. That is why his legacy goes beyond superhero genre. TDK is one of the best film in cinema.       Sure, 50 years later, in a post Frank Miller world, "that's not Batman" but in it's time frame it wasn't THAT far off.

      Bale was at his best in Batman Begins. The voice worked and for once in the film trilogy there's a broken and corrupt Gotham but Batman was being Batman and beated the shit out of Falcone's men. The voice got stupid later on but his performance is say better than any other Batman. Some people say Keaton was better than Bale's. He was ok.

        the voice is ok, just when he says a lot of things long sentences that it sounds silly, but then how else could he do it? batman is ment to be dark and menecing in these types of films, he couldnt just talk normaly, but im hoping affleck can do something other than a husky growl, talk a bit more normal like in the animations

        I have no problem with his voice. Yeah,sometime did not click his effort. But 90-95% part he clicked. Nothing is perfect. So 90-95% time if he clicked then it is not bad. It is great overall. At least to me. Only 5% part he has problem. And yes,there is no doubt that Bale is best Bruce Wayne and Batman in live-action films.
        Animation and live-action almost totally different.

        I thought he sounded like a growling dog or someone with a speech impediment but to each their own. That voice took me out of the movie. Also I thought the joker had a more realistic view on humanity than batman in TDK. In real life, one of those boats would have blown up the other to save themselves. In real life the joker would have been proven right. Only in a movie do hundreds of people act altruistic and morally upright when faced with peril. And batmans entire idea to pretend that Harvey dent wasn't a bad guy and create this grand illusion at the end was dumb and it backfired completely, leading to some of the events in TDKR.

        I didn't say he was a bad actor in fact he's one of my favorite actors with the prestige and American psycho being some of my favorite films ever, the machinist as well. However just because he's one of my favorite actors and very talented doesn't mean that every choice he made playing the character was great or that the producers or sound techs or whomever digitally affected his voice to make it so garbled weren't going too far. Nolan is a fantastic director, and bale is a fantastic actor, but I don't take it as personally as you do to just point out something that made the movie less enjoyable to me than it could have been, included the naïveté of batman and his world view in the plot as I described.

  West's Batman is a completely different take for a different time. Not fair to compare either. Some may look back in 50 years and laugh at Bales, Keatons and Afflecks interpretations of Batman as 'pathetic', not just Clooneys.

      Nostalgia and sentimentality can affect peoples choices. I have fond memories as a kid watching Batman '89 and Batman Returns but i'd have to say Bale is my favorite Bruce Wayne and Kilmer (in terms of voice) is my favorite onscreen Batman. Though im hoping Affleck will change my decision.

        Josh is too old. He is 45. Where Ben is 41. And there is more positive reasons too take Ben than Josh. Josh also my choice at some time.
        1) If WB take Ben he can direct Batman films too. He is a oscar and gg winning artist. If WB take him they also can leave future Batman films who will direct tension.
        2) His relation is so good with WB after The Town and Argo.
        3) He can also help Zack in establishing DCCU.
        and more postive reasons exist. Where Josh only will play the role.

  That's like comparing apples to hand grenades. It's two different things. Adam West played Batman in an absurdist comedy. For a comedic version of Batman, West was brilliant. Bale played Batman in a hardcore serious action drama, and for that version Bale was brilliant.

    You know when Batman returns after eight years in Gotham. People thought he is dead. And suddenly news channels explode with like headlines 'Batman is Alive!','Batman Returns?' etc. Almost sleep city suddenly wake up. Cop cars chasing a vehicle. Which is whole black. Vehicle have two giant truck wheels. The thing drive that thing have huge black cape. Wearing a cowl. Looks scary. Helicopters are on the Gotham sky. emty street are busy suddenly. Silence is broken. and that vehicle is so fast. they not even near.....wow! Batman is really most BADASS superhero ever created! I am listing TDKR's risen from darkness track now on our house rooftop. 12:30 am. Excited! Want to be Batman! :D

I loved Adam West in the episode "Beware the Grey Ghost" in Batman the Animated Series, it was such a great homage and just all around great episode. Also as Catman!! On fairly Oddparents lol.

  I wish they could have filmed this in a quieter place. Also I have a lot of respect for West even when people would try to typecast him or make fun of his role as the 60's Batman he stood by it no matter what and never tried to shy away from his past and has truly embraced it and respected what his role did for TV and Batman in general. He's a great guy.

I'm pretty stupid for saying this but if they do a Batman Beyond tv series, he could play a good old James Gordon but Gordon is dead so maybe if they make a Dark Knight Returns?
