Comic-Con kicks off tomorrow but some lucky people are already on the show floor. Dan DiDio, co-publisher of DC Comics, just revealed that Ben Affleck's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is on display right now. The photo confirms that the cape and cowl are indeed black, not blue as some had hoped. Hopefully the rest of the suit will be brought out as well. I'm sure we'll get a bunch of high quality photos in the coming days, but for now check out this one from Dan DiDio!

    Actually before the unveiling of the Batsuit, there were numerous comments from cast etc expressing how this was a 'new take on the Bat suit that has not been done before'...it looks exactly the same.

      Well this isn't a batsuit, this is a cape and cowl. Not to mention, there hasn't been a movie style grey/black suit before and one especially that takes after TDKR. So isn't it a new take that hasn't been done before? I'm just having trouble seeing how it isn't...

Third, it does look different from the rest of the other Batsuits, they actually use a fabric this time instead of the usual plated armor. And Batman's ears are short this time

      Yeah but I'm hoping Snyder has used the material used in Watchmen's Nite-Owl costume for the cowl since in that movie he could easily move his head and the costume looked very cool .

  If you compare the folds on the side of the neck with the image of the cowl just released, it looks like the material is flexible and not ridged like the Batman Begins cowl!

looks very uncomfortable. Honestly I'd be okay with them going the Iron Man route and having a minimal costume on Ben, with the rest done via CGI.

  Thank you! So many people on all these blogs are pissing their pants over how the cowl looks like Batsy won't be able to turn his neck. What they should be concerned over is whether or not Batfleck's bladder is still functioning with the whole no zipper in costume clause he forgot to add to his contract.

I'm just throwing this out there, but I'm guessing the material used for Batflecks cowl will be the same material used for Night Owl's cowl in Watchmen. I remember while watching the film and thinking how amazing it would be if Batman's cowl was done the same way. The material used seems fantastic as Patrick Wilson (Night Owl) was able to fully turn his neck as well as pull the entire mask over his head.
So yeah I'm thinking this may be the case for this cowl. Also considering the simple fact that this is no longer a grounded / realistic take on Batman therefor there will pretty much be no needed explanation as to how Batman survived that plunge without the graphite cowl lol.
I definitely like the new cowl as it is of course reminiscent of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns which is one of my favorite runs. However, I can't help but picture Ben Affleck's chin in the cowl from the pic above and then all I hear is Ben's annoying voice. I am definitely one that enjoys the films Director/Producers/Writers pulling from source material yet providing us with a fresh take, their interpretation per say. If I wanted the comic book accurate Batman then I can crack open a comic book any day of the week.
Guess we will see. If this film turns out anything like Watchmen did esthetically, then I can definitely enjoy it for that aspect. However, the rest of the world will not be so kind considering how terribly Watchmen fared at the box office. I understand that a comic book such as Watchmen cannot simply be sourced and reinterpreted per say which is why it did what it did at the box office. However, Batman now belongs to the people and we comic fans are a small percentage of the "people" and also a small percentage of the box office pie.
As a comic book reader of course not as die hard as some of you I'm sure, it is fun to see this universe come together and watch a new Batman come together. However as a fan of film, the process and approach behind it and a regular film goer, lets just say I do not have my hopes up.

      I didn't say coulda, woulda or shoulda. And this is technically a leaked photo of a guy setting it up. There's no other people around, so it's clear it wasn't ready yet. It's not a missed opportunity because the opportunity hasn't happened yet.

I like that cowl has a more angular open area. The mask also appears to outline the jaw more rather than just morphing into the back of it. And of course the cowl's expression is pissed off. I like it!:D

  From the back the cowl/neck appear as one piece. Or are you seeing a seam there that I'm missing? At this point I assume that the cowl is of a thin and flexible enough material that he should be able to move. Certainly doesn't look that that thick "rubber" from Burton's Batman

  Who says there won't be? I'm betting against it, but if I was handling this department, I'd leave the cowl as is to help the actor see. THEN, I'd CGI the white lenses on the cowl.

Hey for anyone that may be worried about him being able to move his head, go and take a look at Night Owl in Snyder's Watchmen. He was fully able to move his head and I'm guessing this cowl may be made the same way.
