When Gotham was announced we were told that it would exist within its own universe. The characters in the TV show wouldn't have any connection to the Batman characters in the movies. With all this talk about a Justice League movie and various Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cameos, fans have wondered if Grant Gustin -- who will portray The Flash on TV this fall -- or Stephen Amell who plays Green Arrow -- will eventually move over to the big screen. Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer at DC and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice executive producer, finally put an end to that speculation today at FOX's Television Critics Association panel.

"You'll see a lot of DC universe characters [on The Flash and Arrow]. You won't see Batman or Superman. We're on production on Batman V Superman now. So you'll see characters like The Atom or Firestorm, but no not Batman or Superman right now [on TV]." Johns told IGN. "It's a separate universe than film so that the filmmakers can tell the story that's best for film. We will not be integrating the film and television universes," he said definitively.

Personally, I see this as a good thing. I don't watch a lot of TV, so having to keep track of a bunch of television shows just to get the best possible experience out of a movie didn't seem appealing to me. Plus it'd add a lot of complexity on the side of the writers of these TV shows and movies. But I want to know what you think.
