FOX (via THR) just released a gritty new TV spot for Gotham ahead of it's debut tonight during the MLB All-Star game.

"This is my city. I've come back because I care what's happening to it. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who cares. This town is at a tipping point: crime, corruption, ooze on every corner. Someone needs to take a stand against it all — and that is where we come in," James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) says in voiceover as glimpses of younger versions of Batman characters like Oswald Cobblepott/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith).

The new TV spot is set to "Ticking Bomb" by Aloe Blacc. Gotham will premiere on September 22nd on FOX.

    Prepare yourself for A batman show without batman. GOTHAM only on fox. (Epic movie trailer voice) that's the most accurate description of GOTHAM. I'm still not convinced.

      (Honest Trailers Voice) Prepare yourself, for this super dull and boring Commissioner Gordon........who doesn't even have a mustache...seriously, what kinda Commissioner Gordon doesn't have a mustache?

      because Batman shows WITHOUT Batman have such a great track record!

      Actually, my main problem with this is that it has TOO MUCH Batman. I would have prefered a show that is just about the cops, in the style of Gotham Central. Something like Law & Order/CSI: Gotham City.
      Another thing I don't like is all these villains showing up while Bruce is still a kid. One of the things that's interesting about these villains is that they appeared as a reaction to Batman. Anyway, we'll see. I'm still going to watch it, but I'm not very optimistic.

    I have this wired gut feeling that this series is going to start off crappy then gets intense later on in the season.

      I have the opposite. I think they'll blow their load trying to cram every known villain they can too quickly and people will lose interest because there's nothing new showing up by week 5. And they'll lose the fickle audience who can't understand why there isn't a Joker yet (yes, I'm aware of the Joker teasers they're planning but that probably won't be enough for the average Fox viewer. I think it's clever mind).

      For what it's worth, I can't understand why any Batman fan is negative about this - we are incredibly spoiled with the amount of content we have available to us these days. The makers of this series sound like they care about the subject matter too.

        I think the entire first season will range from mediocre to good; on average a decent first season. Then, either Fox will cancel it, or the second season will be the show's decline in quality leading to Fox cancelling it.
        Either way it's going to be cancelled soon (it is Fox we're talking about). I highly doubt it'll get past a third season. I'm even more skeptical it'll have a 10-year run like they're planning to have.

      I have the same feeling. I figure the pilot will be pretty bad. Too busy trying to set up this world and introduce all these characters in only 40 minutes. The first episode means nothing. It's episodes 2-12 that matter.

        dude this is franchise milking pure and simple come on now this is a complete and utter retread same thing over and over and over again I mean come on this is batman begins stretched and padded out with filler so they (fox) can have a show thatll make bank and you know that's what it is theres no art going on here

      More like a battle to me. The war starts when the Joker appears.

        Who do you think killed his parents? My guess the Joker, and he'll be revealed later on in the series.... We shall see :D

          The Joker has got to be involved somehow. Its the ideal way to build the plot towards his later reveal. The Wayne murder case isn't going to lead to some random 'Joe Chill'

    I also saw a Selina-specific promo later in the game. I didn't watch the whole thing, so I don't know if there were others, but there was one where the text said "Before Catwoman / There was a thief named Selina Kyle."

    I do like this one, though, but the seeming emphasis on the classic villains worries me.

    Nothing about this feels like a batman universe. Looks cooked up by the bean counters. Batmans a hit, police procedural are a hit...let's just throw something together. This screams safe and boring. Looking forward to true detective 2.
