Deadline is reporting that Scoot McNairy has joined the cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. McNairy starred alongside Ben Affleck in Argo, which was also directed by Affleck and won an Oscar for Best Picture.

Update: This will actually be the third time McNairy and Affleck work together. The two actors will also star in Gone Girl later this year.

Deadline was unable to confirm what role McNairy will be playing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice... so what do you think? The Flash? Nightwing? Random thug #3? Let me know who you think McNairy should play in the comments below.

    Actually, I believe while she was supposed to be a Jenny, it was said that it wasn't a replacement for Jimmy Olsen in an interview.
    Don't remember where though.

  In this universe Jimmy is a woman named Jenny. So, not Jimmy Olsen. I'm still hoping that they will connect this to the tv shows, so I'm hoping that he's not playing the Flash.

  Hal Jordan, perhaps? He is after all the final piece of the Justice League they need. I'll just be honest and say I'm praying we won't see Stewart.

      Exactly what Justin said. Don't get me wrong, Stewart's a great character, but I prefer his interaction with Guy the same way I prefer Hal's interaction with Barry. It's all about who can provide the best chemistry.

      You're absolutely correct! When I wrote that comment I had Grant Gustin's Flash locked in my head so I didn't consider his significance. I highly doubt the TV universe and the cinematic universe will connect (let's hope not). I'm waiting for a Flash casting too.

        I'm like 99% positive the tv universe won't mix with the movies, same way smallville didn't mix with Superman Returns etc but I can't freaking wait for official Flash casting news. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they do a Justice League lineup announcement at ComicCon next month (more than just cofirming Aquaman) but we'll see.

        That whole rumor about them filming back to back really pleases me. It highlights the confidence WB has. Confidence that I had previously thought wasn't there.

        I do know what you are referring to and I still highly doubt they'll make the TV flash the same as the movie Flash, Grant Gustin is just not a strong/big enough actor and neither is Stephen Amell to be included in the movie universe. I'd honestly be shocked if they did.

Can't see him in a superhero role. I'd say just some random citizen, maybe a newscaster. Hopefully if they make him a newscaster, they'll pick a name from DC Comics lore like Jack Ryder, instead of coming up with a random name for the character. I hate when comic book films waste opportunities to use comic book characters. I'm looking at you TDK Trilogy!

    The reporter Glen Woodburn in 'Man of Steel' are originaly made to be Jack Ryder, but because legally reasons, they have change the name. The "creeping" description made by Lois was not for free.

  Yes but I was referring to existing chcaracters in Nolan's movies that could have been assigned named from the comics. Detective Stephens in TDK should have been Harvey Bullock - he had the look, the attitude, everything. Catwomans friend Jen should have been named Holly Robinson who was in Year One. Again, had the look and all the characteristics. Mike Engle, newscaster, could have been Jack Ryder or they could have cast a woman and named her Vicki Vale.
  I'm forgetting some, I'm sure. I'm not saying they should have given all these characters their own arcs, but it would have been an awesome way to flesh out the universe and it wouldn't have cluttered the movie like some have said. The comic book fans would get the references, and the average movie goer would be none the wiser - they wouldn't feel like they were missing something.

    Well that's your opinion but if you want to pull that card, movies themselves are "trivial" in the grand scheme of things. Half the stuff you comment on and your opinions are trivial.
    If I'm into superhero movies and superhero comics, I don't think it's ridiculous to want comic book characters in those movies.

  Yeah, I agree. He's 37 years old. Affleck is 42. Too close in age to be Nightwing. Could be the Flash, but I would prefer to see the movies connected to the tv shows. He might not play a big role.

      It won't bring them down, but it could elevate him. I know what you mean though, TV acting is much different. Still, I like seeing TV stars in movies, and Jon Bernthal might end up being the next Clooney. That's a bold statement! I just looked at myself like "man you're trippin!"

      you people have to know that on Tom's tombstone the year was 2013 and there are still no mentioning of Man of Steel's events, so it is zero continuity which means TV verse and Cinematic universe will not be connected

  don't see him as hal jordan; if WB moves forward with featuring hal in this movie i would say that is more likely for them to cast a more recognizable actor who can play the character in multiple movies.

    Well, he is 37. Soo far, the oldest actor to play any Robin if Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with 31/32 at TDKR arrival, comparing with Bale's 40/41 years old at the same time. And its Hollywood, actors playing character with age younger or older than himselfs is not exatcly news. Soo, everthing is possible.

These last minute casting news fall in the category of small roles but somehow important for the story's development. Think of anthony michael hall (TDK's Mike Engel) or Matt Damon on Interstellar.

He's truly a great actor. I could also see him playing The Riddler or even The Joker. It wouldn't be a major role, maybe just the Bat-villain in a big opening sequence that introduces the established Batman in Gotham.

I could bet it's Hal Jordan, but he seems a tad old for that part. Unless Hal is fully established at the time. And if so, it would have to be a brief (possibly nonspeaking) cameo. He's definitely too old for Flash and Nightwing.
