'Batman: Assault on Arkham' trailer officially released, new 'Son of Batman' clip (video)

on 'Batman: Assault on Arkham' trailer officially released, new 'Son of Batman' clip (video)

It leaked last week, but now Warner Bros. has officially released the trailer for their next animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham. The all new animated movie is set within the same universe and continuity as the Batman: Arkham video game series. It will feature Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman with Troy Baker reprising his Batman: Arkham Origins role as the Joker. Batman: Assault on Arkham will be released later this summer, but the Son of Batman Blu-ray will include a 10-minute preview for fans who are eager to learn more.

Speaking of Son of Batman, Warner Bros. has also released a new clip which you can check out below. It features Damian (the son of Batman) squaring off against Ubu. Son of Batman is available now via Digital Download and the Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD will arrive on May 6th, 2014.     Just wish it wasn't Conroy and a Hamill ripoff. They had their day, and I was never a big fan of the 'Disney character' take on the voices they did. I know that puts me in the minority, but I have always found their voice work to be cheesy and melodramatic, even when I like 12... Different strokes I suppose

    The trailer could've used some better sound mixing (the music was much louder than the dialogue) but the movie itself looks amazing!

    I was hoping for an animation style a little more like the cut scenes but hopefully it will be good and not just a 90 min advertisement for the suicide squad!

    Im so happy that Kevin Conroy is BACK! At the same time, I do wish that Mark would have returned as well, but I'll take the next best thing ;)
    Im not 100% in love with the animation style, but lets see how it all plays out ;)

    I'm not all the hyped for this movie at the moment. I mean, another Joker story? The Joker has been in soo many animated Batman movies, do we really need another? Also, I'm not a fan of the artstyle or the new King Shark design. Still looking forward to this, but I'm keeping my hopes low.

      In the special features of Batman and Son (if you're wondering how:
      internet), they said that the real plot is that the Riddler has hacked
      into Amanda Waller's database and stolen a list of possible Suicide
      Squad members, so to keep the team secret, she's sending the Suicide
      Squad to Arkham, to assassinate him; Joker just gets caught up along the
      way. Is that plot any better?

    Arkham certainly looks like Arkham from the games, well it has those watchtowers at least.
    There better be some explosive gel and some detective mode used in this!

      I hate detective mode.

      The crime scene investigation in Origins was cool but I always try to stay away from using "detective mode" while playing the game. Makes it too easy and it just doesn't feel like Batman to me.

    I wonder at what point in the timeline it takes place in? If it's just simply between AO and AA I'm going to be a bit disappointed; but I don't see how it could take place between AA and AC since Joker's terminally ill and all that and there's no way it's between AC and AK.
    So I guess I am a tinsy-bit disappointed. Oh well. Still going to be an awesome movie along the lines of Under the Red Hood awesomeness probably (hopefully). Especially after the terrible monstrosity that was Son of Batman.

      I'm feeling a bit of a cash cow move, (meaning that they just added the "Based in the Arkham universe" tag last minute). The whole Harley and Joker thing doesn't really make sense anywhere on the timeline, since In AA and AC she is still desperately in love with him.

        I think so too. Harley seems to be in three or two different stages throughout her character arc in this movie: member of the SS following orders, inmate at Arkham Asylum (maybe undercover for the SS?) REALLY mad at Joker so much that she wants to kill him, and as typical classic Harley Quinn in love with and working for Joker.

      Why would you be disappointed if it took place between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum? That part of the Arkham timeline would make most sense for multiple reasons, some which you mentioned. But also: 1) it's fertile ground as far as storytelling goes. No other big gap exists in the Arkham timeline since AA, AC and AK all take place a year after each other. The only other time period I'd be interested in the developers exploring would be the future and an ARKHAM BEYOND story based on Batman Beyond.

      In addition, this has the Suicide Squad in it, which was heavily teased in ARKHAM ORIGINS and ARKHAM ORIGINS: BLACKGATE. So it only makes sense that an animated Arkham/Suicide Squad story would take place after Origins but before Asylum.

      As far as the animation style, people are never please it seems. The crucify BEWARE THE BATMAN's for being to CGI then criticize this type of animation even though it's closer to the traditional animation of Batman: The Animated Series.

        Well I'm a tinsy little bit disappointed because I thought this was a standalone movie that just happened to be inspired by the Arkham games but now they're saying it takes place within the Arkham games timeline and therefore I wish it had a more interweaving story with the original two games, but that's just me. Maybe even not having the Joker as the main villain and using another villain who hasn't gotten enough spotlight in the Arkham universe.

        It doesn't really matter, the movie is going to be pretty awesome anyways (hopefully). And who doesn't love some good Suicide Squad? Especially with such an awesome lineup.

        I'm pleased with this movie's animation style. I'm not one to complain about animation. What matters to me the most is the story, voice acting, etc. Animation plays a part but it's not the only thing that makes the cartoon movie or show quality entertainment. Personally, I loved Beware the Batman. I thought it's CGI animation was a bit off in the first few episodes (for example Gotham being empty with no civilians or cars) but it rapidly increased in quality. It took me a few episodes to get used to it too but once I did I quite liked it.

    I can't wait for Batman: Assault on Arkham. Troy Baker has definitely REPLACED Mark Hamill as the voice of The Joker. It's a perfect and unnoticeable transition. I thought that Son of Batman was an awesome movie! All of the characterizations were spot on.

      Except Talia. Her character needed help. It lacked the tension for a nice set up for Leviathan or something. I haven't read that comic in a while, but I assumed that tension existed at that time.

        Also Deathstroke wasn't Deathstroke at all, except by name. He lost his eye by Damien (da hell was that?), was vengeful, power hungry, and was Ra's next in line? Nothing about him seemed in character to me.
        Honestly none of the characters except Damien and Alfred seemed right to me.
        Plus the storyline isn't similar at all to Morrison's work except for Damien and Man-Bat ninjas.

        Talia's portrayal was way better in the movie than the comic, In the comic, Morrison just made her an evil *itch. And the "tension" between Dick and Damian (adopted son vs. bio son) was written perfectly. I'll assume you watched the pieces of their fight that was spliced in with the end credits.

    I always hate the "nothing we haven't seen before" line. Even Shakespeare wasn't original.

    Name the last truly original movie you saw and I'll rebuttle with how unoriginal it really is.

      I apologize if this sounds rude, but out of all the animated Batman movies how is this one unoriginal? It's not based on an already existing comic (like how most are), its taking place within the universe of a game (which idk about you but I think this is the first time a Batman game led to a movie and not the other way around), and finally it has the Suicide Squad, which, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't believe seeing in an animated movie before.
      So again, not trying to be rude, but I'm asking you how, out of all the Batman animated movies we've seen, this one is unoriginal?

          What does that matter? You were talking about the movie as a whole as well:
          "Also, Son of Batman was kinda shitty, IMO. So that's, for me at least,
          possibly 3 losses in row with Justice League: War, Son of Batman, and
          Batman Assault on Arkham."

            Ok, fair enough, but you were talking about the plot of the movie having been done before, and the trailer doesn't actually show the real plot, but a misleading one, so I expanded on it for you.

    I watched It last night hehe I streamed it. But I have mix reviews on the "SON OF BATMAN" even tho I accepted it as something worthy in my bat-vault. But I really kinda wasn't sold on. A) not using nightwing B) the Bat-Mobil looking like the forever bat-Mobil C) I hated batmans Ears! I can't stand when they make it out to be like devil horns. (Just keep them short, jim lee) and finally D) a tail on croc? I mean lets not confuse him with THE LIZARD. And the drawings in some ways. Look like an American trying to draw in a anime style. Which was noticeable in some scenes. But over all I gave it a solid 8.
