First gameplay video from 'Batman: Arkham Origins' Cold, Cold Heart DLC

Warner Bros. Games Montreal showed off the first gameplay video from the Batman: Arkham Origins Cold, Cold Heart DLC on a special episode of DC All Access this afternoon. We get to see Batman's new Extreme Environment (XE) suit in action for the first time, and all the thermal gadgets that come along with it. There's a ton of new info in the video above, check it out!

The new story DLC takes place after the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and will tell the origin of Batman's first encounter with Mr. Freeze. The Batman: Arkham Origins Cold, Cold Heart DLC will be available on April 22nd on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $9.99.

Well WB Montreal said they were focusing all their time and energy on DLC and not patches, so hopefully that amounted to something. Hopefully that also means the wait was worth it.

Apart from this site, I rarely see people at other places complain about bugs in B:AO. Rarely. Yet here, it's the (lone) thing that people talk about. (Personally, I played it on PC at the launch, and the only official bug I ever encountered was that one cellular tower that was inaccessible. There were TONS of problems with the game....but they weren't bugs.)
I think the "Bugs! Yeah Yuk yuk lol." chatter is a diversion from the game's middling, pedestrian quality.

  In my opinion, the overall quality of the game was definitely lower than the previous installments. Half of the game looked like copied code with snow added. No gameplay improvements at all. It felt like it was an extended DLC.
  As for the bugs, I encountered a lot of free flow combat glitches where hits just went through people. Also random freezing in loading.
  The game wasn't terrible, but it was below Arkham standards.

    Yeah, I agree with most all of that. I didn't have any glitches in the combat that I can recall, but I just thought the combat was somehow clunky and non-rhythmic - the opposite of the "free flow" combat in AA and AC.
    Other things I didn't like were how bland and lifeless the city and interiors were, and how un-creative and dull the Riddler things were. (In AC, those were often Zelda-worthy puzzles.)
    Not to beat a dead horse, but I feel like addressing these whenever people here talk about the bugs, which were insignificant relative to the gameplay and design problems.

      Oh man...Origins was the only game where i didn't finish the Riddler trophies. Not due to difficulty, but rather mindless repetitiveness and...just bad.... I never bring that up because it's so forgettable I guess.

      Ha ha. Good for you. Once I get deep into a game, I get a bit compulsive about "completing" it.
      Yeah, in B:AC, the Riddler trophies were BOTH a cool side story and, very often, brilliant little puzzles. Just the opposite in B:AO, virtually zero story and they were an utterly pointless fetch quest requiring zero problem solving.
      The final Riddler hostage room in B:AC, for me, stands up there almost with a Zelda dungeon as far as the ingenuity of the puzzles, and requiring full knowledge of your tools.

How about Matches Malone levels? I think that'd be really good if done right. It could also count as Bruce Wayne levels I guess since you're not playing as Batman.

Yeah, Penguin's become the default, I think. It would be cool if it were somebody else, but I had the same thought as you.
(Incidentally, the Penguin boss fight has been the one and only part of 'Blackgate' that I've enjoyed.)

  I think that we were wrong.
  Our good friends at the Torrent network have already gotten their bigoted, pirating hands on this (that money should go to the good people of the Time Warner Corporation, dammit!) and somebody leaked the ending, which appeared to show that it is the actually a different villain - one common in the Arkhamverse.
  I won't spoil in case Chris & Co. want B-N to be spoiler-free. (Although I recently heard a woman complain how she was turned off by grown men whining about "spoilers"....but that's the world we live in.)

my only gameplay related nitpick is that i find a bit inconsistent the fact that batman can glide in frozen rooms, even with his cape visibly frosted; as i remember that wasn't possible in arkham city; freeze would lower the air temperature so batman's gliding abilities were limited.

Not a fan of the XE suit's bulkiness, but I'm excited for this DLC nonetheless. Freeze has always been one of my favorite Bat-villains.

So they say in the video Mr. Freeze is aligned with another crime-lord, like it's a big secret--you can see the penguin's insignia on the thugs outfits. WB Montreal. Such clever men.

I wonder who the second villain is, and honesty they should suggest catwoman to be a villain in a dlc as a assassin. Before their future history. And make her dark and very clever and a worthy opponent. Sorta her own "HarleyQuinns Revenge ". I mean, why wouldn't a thieft be interested in killing for MONEY? It's money.
