'Batman vs. Superman' to shoot in Yorkville, Illinois in the fall (update)

Update: After speaking with the Illinois Film Office director Betsy Steinberg, Chicago Tribune has updated their story. They now say that Batman vs. Superman will be shooting in Yorkville, Illinois in the fall, not in May as they originally reported.

Superman is heading home! The Kent Farm set from Man of Steel was rebuilt late last year to get ready for filming in February. As you know, Batman vs. Superman got delayed, and so did that scheduled shoot.

Now Chicago Tribune is reporting that Zack Snyder and his crew will be heading back to Yorkville, Illinois in mid-May to shoot some scenes for Batman vs. Superman.

Early this month Zack Snyder hinted that production would begin in April, and costume designer Michael Wilkinson echoed that claim. That means that it's possible we'll see some Batman vs. Superman set photos even before they head back to Yorkville, Illinois in May. As always, stay tuned to Batman News for all the latest!

  You are seriously implying that the characters in MoS weren't correctly developed through out the movie? How the hell would they ever do it otherwise than they did it now, come on. Everone knows the story of Superman, they don't have to chew the meal before it comes on a plate anymore, because it has been done before and if I may say: They should have waited with the first four Superman movies until the time was right (meaning, special effects and such) then those movies would even have a place in my drawer. I mean no disrespect, but when I was watching MoS I seriously was totally blown away, only just because of the fight scene at the end with Zod alone. And what I thought was: Why did it take so long before these kinds of actual battle scenes were in a movie like Superman. I know. because of the lack of technology at the time. So I coulnd't have been happier to see that happen in front of my eyes. So, please. Don't be so ungrateful and just accept the fact that this film was super bad ass and don't complain. Jeez.

    Well if they could have added one thing to the movie, it would be directly saving a few citizens before the actual catastrophe happened, as in what Spider-man did in the 2002 movie! That was something I truely missed in this movie, but there is still time enough to make that happen in BvS, right?

    Too big emphasis on action, and not enough character moments. Of course, it's just my opinion. I mean, many liked it, I didn't (neither did critics). It lacked everything I wanted to see in a superman film. It lacked the joy, the fun and... Well, Superman. It was just a guy with his powers, that's all. It's just like recent superman iterations in the comics, he's too grim, too batmanish if you will. The film, to me, was not that different froma transformers film (without dumb jokes).
    Look, I don't say that you have to agree with me. Many love these kind of films, but to me it was just another shallow, boring action flic with lots, lots of action, destruction porn (Nice going Kal) and nothing else. Glad you liked it.
    Btw, have you read All Star Superman or Birthright? A superman film would be a bit closer to something like that (IMO, Duh).

  Character development? I doubt you even know what that means. What do you think the flashbacks and Clark trying to "find himself" at the beginning of the movie was for? Any more character development (boring dialogue) and you get Superman Returns.

    It was shallow with tons of action. Everything was over dramatic and over the top (Dad dies in a twister because he tried to save a dog, come on, that was silly), the Backflashes were constantly interrupted (bus crash, tornado etc) or were too short (the first Backflash was great). The pacing was odd (especially the ending, kills Zod and in the very next scene he's all fine and good), Superman didn't save anyone (1 soldier and Lois) and destroyed half of metropolis, everyone talked in speeches, the music was generic.
    I did however like the action (but there was too much of it), the casting and the costume designe.
    Look, it's possible that my expectations were far too high, I was hopin for a film like TDK or Spider-man 2, and what I got was just a guy punching and frowning.
    Look, by this point I've seen over 20 superhero films, so I'm really tired of seeing a films like this. I still love superheroes, but I want some more mature stuff with different and interesting ideas. I'm glad you liked this movie, I however hated it. Matter of opinion.

      Maybe you missed the part, when Superman saved the ENTIRE PLANET EARTH, including that soldier and Lois. Too much action... in a comic book movie? Superman fighting other Kryptonians should be filled with lots of action and destruction, based off their powers. Why Pa Kent died was a little dumb (Although people do REALLY love their dogs). After Superman kills Zod, he drops to his knees and lets out an emotion yell/cry. That was enough emotion. Zod wasn't human, he was an alien that was trying to wipe out humanity! What did you want a funeral service for Zod?! You're right though. Matter of opinion. Mine is just correct.

      Rotten tomatoes and metacritic didn't find it quite as good, if that says anything (I'm not the only one who hated it). Superman should try to save every person, every single person's life matters to him. Not in this flick (didn't save dad, killed Zod, destroyed Metropolis and made out with Lois on its ashes...). The part where he screams was good, but killing someone should have affected him more. Very next scene, he's just joking. It just doesn't feel right.
      Superhero films shouldn't just be "Bamm!""Biff""Dong!", they should try to be more than just regular popcorn flicks (like the TDK trilogy, Spider-man 2, Batman etc). Btw, how was Supes a symbol of hope? More like a symbol for mass destruction.

      I get that the film wasn't critically acclaimed, none of Zack Snyder's movies are. But defending Man of Steel is fun and kinda easy to me. Superman "should" try to save every single person, too much destruction? Maybe Snyder decided to cut out the scene where Superman says "Excuse me Zod, do you mind if we take this fight to Mars, so nobody gets hurt while we're dueling". LOL. Superman killed a murderous alien. BIG DEAL. Superman didn't joke afterwards. He made out with Lois after he thought the war was over, I would've too! I hope you're prepared for Batman to be KILLING aliens in a Justice League movie. Because that's happening. CAUTION: Please don't reply, I can do this ALL day.

      I'm sorry but it is completely ridiculous to me that people say Superman "didnt save anybody" in this movie and that there was "too much destruction." If you go online and make these statements, you're just a try hard that wants to be different, period.
      Try actually watching the movie and paying attention and having an IQ over 80 and you will discover pretty amazing things, like:
      -The oil rig scene right in the beginning of the movie where he goes out of his way to save many lives that he does not know.
      -Him catching soldiers/ saving them in other ways during the initial encounter with the Kryptonians.
      -Him snapping Zods neck to save that family that was going to definitely die if not for that action.
      Oh and yeah its so stupid that when two beings with God-like powers fight, things get destroyed. Ever read a single Superman comic in your entire life? That is how pretty much every single encounter with a super villain looks. But you wouldn't know that or take that into consideration, because you are complaining just for the sake of complaining. I don't even know why people like you go watch movies. Just stay home. This whole notion of Superman being able to defeat super villains with NO collateral damage happening exists NOWHERE in Superman media of any kind. Just because you made up that standard in your head does not mean that it is a valid mark against the film.

      There is collateral damage, and then there is mass destruction (and a far too long action scene). Though I don't like this version of Superman (emo, earth 2 version), my main problem lies in the pacing, lack of originality and overall dullness (action doesn't make a film interesting or automatically entertaining. I want some originality from my superhero films, dammit). Also, chill.
      - Him snapping Zod's neck was (at least to me, and Mark Waid and many, many comics writers and fans) in my opinion totally out of character (or out of the Superman that I love).
      -He caught two soldiers. I wonder how many died when he punched Zod through buildings, trains and didn't stop the truck from hitting the building (which then exploded)?
      MY Superman isn't supposed to be like Batman (which he basically is in this movie), he's supposed to be the other side of the coin. That's what makes Batman/Superman team ups so awesome. Polar opposites, yet sort of similar. Now they are basically the same character (unless Snyder changes Batman, and I don't want that).
      And I get it, maybe the film isn't for me. Maybe it's made for the future generation or some ****. Doesn't mean I must enjoy it. If you like it, then good for you. However I was totally disappointed. If you like comics, I suggest you read Mark Waid's short essay on the film. I'm not saying that I agree 100% with him on the flick, but nevertheless he makes some good points. I know this makes me sort of sound like someone that just copies some guy's opinion, but he really felt the same way about the movie as I did and explained it in a sort of better way.

      Remember, Snyder wanted that movie to have that realism dark feel, so Superman is not going to save everyone because he is dealing with a tough situation. What I'm really saying is superman won't have enough time to save everyone when he's fighting three kryptonians. They aren't going for a comic book superman, they wanted a world where superman could exist in real life.

I don't think they ever even reference to him as SUPERMAN in Man of Steel. Man of Steel wasn't about "Superman", per say. It was about an outsider, an alien to society finally finding his place. A place where he can be who he truly is in this crazy world, and still be respected by his peers. I love Man of Steel (My personal opinion) because it was WAY better than that piece of crap "Superman: Returns" a couple of years ago. Besides, Batman Vs. Superman isn't a direct sequel to Man of Steel. Its basically a prequel to the Justice League film. They're still going to do a stand alone Man of Steel sequel. True the movie did have its flaws, but that's only because Zack Snyder fan boyed out too much and just may have missed some things. I'd still take Man of Steel over a crappy marvel film any day.

We'll,mos2 or BVsS is a sequel and not just a one off for just justice league but this happens to have supe,bats,ww in it and it also might have Easter eggs for other dc characters in it as we'll like mos did.

Why do you even expect Doomsday to be in the movie, when there are so few clues that he might be in the movie. Don't get me wrong, I want a freakin' Doomsday, but I am not really expecting they will add him in the next Superman sequel. I actually think they are going to wait with that for a grand finale. Couldn't be wrong, it will be the best way to approach the series of movies regarding this franchise. And even if he will be in it, I hope it will be computer animated, because: How the hell are you going to make a Doomsday actor look like Doomsday? I know there are a great number of techniques to make it happen, but I fear that even that could make it look a little corny. xD Hope not though :)

  On the Man of Steel Blu-ray. On the Krypton documentary special feature there's a possible hint at Doomsday. Doomsday will likely be motion capture like the Hulk in The Avengers. It HAS to be Doomsday as the physical threat. SPOILERS: Batman will kick Superman's butt a little bit, then the Trinity will take on Doomsday.

    Nice argument, I will now consider this as an actual possibility, but that would also mean that Luthor would want Doomsday gone because it has no right in his eyes to come to earth while he brings the kind of trouble on that big of a scale. So, do we have spoilers now, since I thought about this? :P I see Luthor getting mad about Doomsday destroying what's left of Metropolis. I see that clearly, but also, I would like to mention about the satellite, which Superman has destroyed and that satellite belonged to Wayne Enterprises, which may make Batman very upset and he will confront Superman. Which would be totally predictable though haha! Good night, gotta go sleep :)
    Edit: Btw, I liked it very much how the Hulk looked like in Avengers, hope they will indeed do the same for Doomsday then! :D
