Ben Affleck begins work on 'Batman vs. Superman' this summer

Last month Warner Bros. announced that Batman vs. Superman's release date was pushed back to 2016 and that production would begin in the second quarter of this year. A conflicting report from Deadline came out a week later, stating that production had not been delayed and that all of the major actors were needed right away. That rumor can now be debunked.

Thanks to a new interview with Ben Affleck's wife Jennifer Garner, we know exactly when Ben Affleck will begin work on Batman vs. Superman. While promoting her new movie Draft Day on a Detroit radio station, Garner had the following to say:

I've been to Detroit once. I'll be there this summer, all summer. [Ben] is filming. "Batman" is shooting... or whatever it's called. I don't know what it's called. "Superman with Batman"... whatever it is. But he is shooting this summer, so we'll be there.

Ha, Superman with Batman would be an amazing title! Since Ben Affleck is shooting this summer, hopefully that doesn't put a delay on the first photo of him as Batman. It's rumored to be coming in late February/early March.

This certainly feeds the back-to-back rumors... or they will shoot everthing what they have to do with Allfeck in this 3 months of shooting or the role of Batman will not be bigger as we thought...

I would love to see his face if Affleck leaves the role (which I'm kinda sure won't happen anytime soon), or gets heavy negative reviews after the film is released.       It's like Christian Bale once said. "Batman, is bigger than ANY actor that is portraying him". Same goes for Lex Luthor, Superman and Wonder Woman. If the cast, crew and director do their jobs well, overall. The fanboy complaints, simply disappear.

    Kind of the Arkham series route. In Origins he wore that heavier armor, but had less muscle mass. When he got some years under his belt he switched to highly flexible lightweight armor that was actually stronger and he himself was actually more muscle heavy at that point. This design plays on that very well. Nice.

"that kryptonian is really a friend of this earth? or a maniac?" like this are will be so attract people. specially general movie goers. there is lots of way to attract us. one is newspaper's headline and articles. but at the moment wb need to release a unclear promo picture. which kevin smith saw on snyder's mobile. they both on rooftop. batman standing in front of superman. it is a huge project of this new dccu. lots of iconic characters. running time also will easily cross 165-170 minutes. so a promo photo they can release atleast for now. and shadow actually indicate Gotham. metropolis indicate light. gotham's dark and dirty areas footpaths,weak yellow street lights will describe better your graffiti concept.

Henry Cavill is already in Detroit and i doubt there is 4-5 months worth of shooting that needs to be done without Affleck. More then likely is Garner will come to Detroit this summer with Affleck already there.

  this film will certainly not flop. It has no reason to. A Superman/Batman movie (1st ever meeting between the 2 characters in live-action) is going to underperform?? It's going to make 2 billion easy. enough to damn near fund the rest of their Phase 1 and a little of Phase 2.

        even if it does bad critically (which I know there's reviewers that will hate this movie regardless of how good it is) the fact that it made 2 billion+ is enough to continue their universe. People have been wanting Superman/Batman since the 40's and wanted WW on the big screen for years too. How tf is this gonna flop exactly? Because people dont like the casting?         While I agree with you that The Dark Knight Trilogy was great, I don't agree that this film will be a giant piece of crap. In fact I think that it'll be pretty good. I'm not the type of superhero fan that believes that the movies need to be a carbon copy of the books. I'd actually rather them not and just be their own thing. I like when film creators are given source material and they make it their own. I like when they take liberties with the characters. You want to give Lois Lane red hair, give her red hair. You want Lex Luthor to be a tech mogal instead of an industrialist, do it. You want to skip past Hal Jordan and use John Stewart as the Green Lantern in JL, do it. I'd rather see creativity than a carbon copy. As long as the core principles are there. And from what I hear when Snyder talks about these characters, he knows and understands what makes them who they actually are. Let's not forget that the Man of Steel movie was written by David Goyer and Chris Nolan. So any problem anyone has with it, wasn't because of the story telling of Snyder. And you have to admit that he is great with special effects and brought us Superman like we had never seen on the big screen.

    The desire for perfection is mind boggling. I've never seen a perfect movie. My top 10 movies all have something in them I would do differently. People wonder why DC can't compete with Marvel, it's because DC fans are complete nitpicky bungholes. Unless every single decision is perfect, unless they get casting and script approval, the movie sucks and they don't want to see it. And if they DO see it they don't give it a chance to be good, they watch it purely because they want to find problems they can harp on. You can't discuss the movies without wearing armor. The negativity that surrounds every single DC movie project from the second it's announced to the second it's released is always infuriating and tiresome. That Nolan managed to escape it with only a few scrapes and bruises is the most impressive thing he did.
    I think if every movie used the story I would've written and cast the actors I would've cast, movies would become very boring very quickly. I'd rather be surprised and proved wrong.

  I've heard the same thing about Gal Gadot. One theory that somebody came up with was that they didn't get the actress that they want but had to go with Gal Gadot instead and wait for that actress to be free. Yep that's not happening. She auditioned and won the part. She's Wonder Woman.

      The makeup was distracting. It would've been much easier to just sink into the movie's world, suspend disbelief and believe JGL was a young Bruce Willis. The makeup just felt like a gimmick to get attention.

I believe Affleck won't begin filming until Summer just like Gal will film in May but I believe filming for the movie has begun and Zack is filming with Henry Cavill which is great news for me! This means that Superman will definitely have more time on screen and is definitely a MoS sequel!(:

All this ooh, is whatshisname filming now, or is whosit gonna film then, or maybe whatshisface is gonna film sometime over there. Uggh.
When this movie goes into production we will know. It's not a CIA operation. WB sent out a press release saying filming starts in 2nd quarter. Why are we acting like they're lying and trying to put on some clandestine black op? Because somebody saw Cavill in a bar?
Look at how the internet erupted for them just filming two football scenes.This is a major production. When filming starts, they will announce filming has started. Everybody relax and breath AHHHHHHHHHHHH.

    Yeah, it had a lot going right for it, as well as wrong with it. Batman being a maniac arsehole to Grayson made more sense in reality, breaking him in mentally etc. But Miller dealt with The Joker wrongly I thought, Chinese dragon tattoos and being a bit sexually deviant with the strangulation part et al. But it is what it is.

    I think Nolan's Batman was pretty weak. The main thing about Batman is that he's smart and Nolan's Batman got fooled by basically everyone every film. Also, he was mostly trying NOT to be Batman instead of being Batman when real Batman did not give up after burying his own son, let alone a mere girlfriend.
    Not to mention Bale's terrible Batman voice...
    What Nolan got right and then some was most villains. Topping Ledger's joker will be hard. Topping Nolan's directing may be hard. The Batman portrayal in those films? Not so much...

      Nolan's Batman was not Batman. He was Bruce Wayne and ultimately gave up on being Batman after donning the cowl for a combined two years.
      The comics Batman is always Batman and Bruce Wayne is actually the fake identity.
      And you are really non-sensical talking about Talia, when Nolan's Batm,an gave up on being Batman over Rachel, not Talia.
      You asked how could Affleck Batman top Bale. The simple asnwer: prortraying Batman as one of (if not THE) smartest men on Earth, a quintessential Batman characteristic and, basically his "superpower", which Bale's Batman failed to do.
      He also could take his Bruce wayne less into a male Paris Hilton direction, jumping in waterfonts and sleeping in meeting and making him a suave, gentleman playboy, which is how Bruce Wayne has always been portrayed.

        Exactly. Batman should be a detective. If you pay attention, in both Burton films Batman actually used investigation and smarts to stop the villains. Also, his Wayne was the traditional suave philantropist and businessman. In Nolanverse, Batman was easily fooled by all villains. Not much of a detective. And his Wayne was jumping into fonts and sleeping through meetings, as if he were Paris Hilton. Also, his entire Batman career being two years when added up? Insane.
