on Danny Cannon to direct 'Gotham' pilot episode

Danny Cannon has been chosen to direct and executive produce the first episode of Gotham. The show will premiere on FOX this fall, and tell the origin stories of James Gordon and Gotham City's most popular villains. Gordon is still only a detective in the TV series and hasn’t met Batman yet. In fact, Bruce Wayne is only ten years old and will be a regular character.

Danny Cannon directed the pilots and was an executive producer on the popular CSI franchise. Check out his IMDb page for more. The pilot episode of Gotham is expected to begin shooting in March. Still no word on who will play Gordon, but stay tuned to Batman News for all the latest!

    Well the problem is not the pilot it´s the rest of the show but always nice to have a big television name to put it on its feet.

        My point exactly, usually tv shows go the extra mile on the pilot episode precisely to make a good impression but a good tv show main concern is to make a high rating season...

    The last episode needs to jump a decade into the future like Smallville did so Batman can make his grand appearnce. A vacant rooftop just how they always meet.

      pretty much this but I'd say if Bruce is about 10 years old I'd say it would have to be at least about 20. Probably helping Gordon out of a tight spot or something like that, think like Gotham Kinght's Crossfire

        Exactly, but you get what I'm saying. Frankly though, at ten year old Bruce does not need to be a main character. The pilot should open with Chill murdering the Waynes in Crime Ally and Gordon of course comforting Bruce similar to that scene from Batman Begins, but I can't see his recurring presence useful.

          I'd envisioned it - the murder of the Waynes - taking place during the mid season finale but having it happen right from the get go also works for me.

      That'd be awesome for Batman vs. Superman, but he's too old to be playing a young, rookie Gordon in this TV series.

    hmmmm while it could be good but what I would like to see is have the first season without Bats, have the Waynes getting killed about mid season and then season 2 (or the season one finale) set it about 20(?) years later to get Batman onto the scene. Do that and I'll be happy but I think the set up for Bats arrival at the end of the first season would be the ideal way to set up hype for season 2. It could be like some really big bust is going down but goes bad, **** is hitting the fan as Gordon's team is a bad way: enter Batman to save the day and "who the hell is that!?" from the team. Pretty much something like this

      It's always been a Gordon focused series, but young Bruce Wayne will be a recurring character.
