on 'Batman vs. Superman' appoints production designer, opens office in Michigan

According to Production Weekly, Warner Bros. has opened a production office at Raleigh Michigan Studios in Pontiac, Michigan. They've also picked Patrick Tatopoulos as the production designer. Tatopoulos has done production design for movies like 300: Rise of an Empire, I, Robot, and Independence Day.

Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to start shooting in the Detroit area this February.

Update: As "BatFan3000" points out in the comments below, Raleigh Michigan Studios changed its name to Michigan Motion Picture Studios last year.

Ppl can say what they want about this movie isn't gonna be, whatever. But it's the first time in history that the dark knight, and sups, are on the big screen together, that's huge!! And yes it's a man of steel sequel, but the working title is, Batman/ Superman. And that means DC is finally opening up a shared universe where these characters exist together!! And with a huge chunk being filmed here in DETROIT, I will be in this flick!!!!! What kind of bat guy would I be if they made this movie in my town, and I wasn't in it!!!??? And I've been saying it for years, DETROIT is Gotham city!!! I try to support all things bat related. I'm a bat guy!!!

This could be fake. Releigh bailed out of Michigan a couple years ago. The former "Raleigh Mivchigan Studios" has been named "Michigan Motion Picture Studios" for a couple years. So this news is either fake, or the source is really out of the loop.

I can understand not being *thrilled* with casting or crew news, but let's at least wait until we have a trailer before we start swearing the movie off.

yeah, i was thinking the same as well,alex....lol......im just beyond annoyed with people oh...mos was nothing but cgi.....it was filmed with real effects and set pieces as well on real locations with cgi mixed in and this sequel is expanding the dc universe to allow other fellow dc characters in that universe as well.

This always happens bud. People always get huffy puffy over what they don't know, so they imagine the worst case scenario until the actual movie releases. It's weird but what ya gonna do.

True. It's just funny that we seem to go through this same song and dance every few years. But like you said, what ya gonna do?

    Tatopoulos as Production Designer:

The Good - Se7en, Stargate, Independence Day, Dark City, Pitch Black, I, Robot, Silent Hill, I Am Legend, Riddick

The Bad - Supernova, Battlefield Earth, Eragon, Total Recall (remake), Silent Hill 2

Personally, I think it's a good choice. He's exceptionally experienced in big blockbusters and films that include both CGI and practical effects.

Less Nolan involvement... It could turn out to be better.. or worse...

One thing for sure, it would not be like Man of Steel.

It's a Superman/Batman film that's continuity wise a sequel to Man of Steel. Let's not get confused here.

        1. TRINI REAPER Avatar
          TRINI REAPER

No, it's more like a "let's shove Batman into a Superman movie to get fans all exciting and then when the ball is hanging on it's chain, let's wreck havoc and start chaos and controversy about Ben Affleck being the next Batman, cause he gave warner bros. a bonus extra salary." cliche.

The retards above me thinks that it's a Batman film when the dark knight trilogy is finished, clearly they didn't watch the ending when Man of Steel said "directed by Zack Snyder" and I guess they didn't see the Comic Con announcement.

It's a bad thing. Every movie on his resume is all about the CGI, I think it's clear that Zach Snyder is still holding strong to the heavy visual effects with lack of dialogue or plot formula. I'm getting the Batman & Robin vibe from this, unmemorable and forgotten the second you walkout the theater.... kinda like Man of Steel, the only character in that movie that didn't phone in was Kevin Costner and he got a disrespectful death.
