Batman vs. Superman screenwriter David Goyer sat down with the Associated Press to talk about the big 2015 movie. Goyer explained that they're further along with the movie than people realize. When asked if he pays attention to what the fans would like to say, Goyer said that he tries to ignore that because it prevents him from being creative. "You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it", he replied. At the end of the interview Goyer is asked who he thinks would win in a fight between Batman and Superman. Check out the video above for his answer!

I really hope that this is Goyer's last project with Dc, we need to flush out the old and bring in fresh talent.

Goyer told CleverMovies that he's gonna help write a sequel to Green Lantern.

Well shit can you send me a link?

I was trying to find the actual link but idk where it actually is I remember CleverMovies or CleverTrailers has it, interviewing Ryan Reynolds and David Goyer, talking about expanding the DC universe I think the video was around the time TDKR just released in theaters.

yeah so no, they are probably going to reboot Green Lantern and I still hope Goyer is done soon

Unlike the last Green Lantern David Goyer wants to focus on the writing a lot more than the budget. I don't know if Green Lantern can be given the same type of budget as it did previously, but with Goyer's good reputation he may get the budget he needs for Green Lantern and his reputation could bring a lot more attention to this Green Lantern movie. JJ Abrams is going all out with the budget in Star Wars but he's also cutting out the CGI alot I think with pre-made scenes that focus more on creating real life set models for the scenes and the furturistic objects like ships with camera angles that still uses CGI which looks a lot more realistic (but it doesn't use as much CGI, limiting the frames per a second also makes the movie a lot cheaper and having more frames per second doesn't make the movie look any better so it's just a lot more expensive for CGI to do that where you're repeating a lot more of the effects for each individual different movement which is significantly more expensive with more frames as just that little movement difference makes the CGI for each movement very expensive, some movies have more frames per a second than others and audiences actually preferred the special effects and CGI movies that had a lot less frames per second), using real life models makes CGI look a lot cooler, and costs significantly less which the person has got to be very creative to do and that also leaves a lot more room to do a lot with the high budget he's given. Add a lot more plot and many different action scenes with varied story while shortening each scene but making each scene powerful and complete. Do a lot of different things with the action and the scene writing. This will cut the budget in more than half and with less dialogue and less extended scenes while having a lot more effective wording and more story for what is there will cut the time it takes for filming which also cuts down the cost, and then you can use the rest of the budget for a lot cooler things in the movie. This also helps you with your sequels because you get a lot more creative flow and you go into the movie feeling more confident opening up more elements. Characters slowly and fakely crying is a waste of money, make the scenes powerful with impact that has a lot more effective writing where it's compelling and you see emotions with wisdom and colorful sharpness you've never seen before.

I want Batman to wear brass knuckles made of Kryptonite.

Thank you, Mr. Goyer, for saying what needed to be said! IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT!!!

The kryptonite is really effective against Superman in every movie, i think they should keep the same kryptonite effect against Superman in the sequel like every Superman's film. In the comics book the kryptonite has nearly no effect on Superman.

I did like how in Man of Steel, Superman got pretty f**ked up by Krypton's atmosphere. I really hope they keep that kind of effect with all of the blood.

Maybe Batman will build a gravity weapon.

I'm impressed if Batman gives Superman a challenge without Kryptonite, as Kryptonite is the cheapest plot device I can think of. Superman can be defeated in real life by a multi billionaire with the right research and the right technology now in days so Batman should be able to too. There's alloys that are 13 times stronger than kevlar pound for pound, and theoretically alloys that are 1300 times stronger than kevlar pound for pound when made correctly if he were to make a 10,000 pound suit. I've found they're making compact hydrogen batteries and that cold fusion has been successfully created. There's all kinds of other neat things Batman can put together in several areas of technology to give Superman a challenge. Batman is a rich genius researcher, producer of goods, and inventor in the comic books so he should be able to do this. I'm also talking about real life technology to do this which if you look into all of the different areas of technology there's all kinds of interesting things Batman can do. Batman can have his own robot ran assembly production line and make his own materials with this assembly line to save on costs. If Batman does somehow figure out Kryptonite which Lex Luthor would first when Kryptonite hasn't been introduced yet, maybe Batman can use expensive state of the art technology against Superman later on when they're both apart of the Justice League and Batman puts together multiple scenarios on his computer on how to take on the superheroes and supervillains in the worst possible scenarios. Then Superman can be under some sort of mind control or choose to stick to a dictator regime because he felt it was the safest option for Earth, and Batman can use state of the art technology on Superman. Superman and Batman fought in The Dark Knight Returns because Superman chose to fight for Lex Luthor and Brainiac in the future as Superman felt that was the best solution for a world ruler when the world was on the brink of a global nuclear emp holocaust and the entire annihilation of mankind, so to save mankind he chose the one world government as the best of two evils. I want to see something like that in the future with Kingdom and Kingdom Come with a blend of the best Gog stories while Gog can be somewhat rewritten with the same cool identity, abilities, and appearance with Magog. Magog is cool as he is. Do something big and cool with Anti-Monitor and Superman Prime 1 million who appears to be a man made of gold (He just appears gold but he's not actually made of gold) and he was even given a sword by God but save those guys for last because they're the most powerful. In the comics Superman Prime 1 million went back in time and he raised Jason Todd back to life from the grave which Jason Todd had some insanity because his brain hadn't been fully formed but he was completely recovered when he went into a Lazarus Pit. Ultraman is the evil villain version of Superman from an alternate reality if things happened differently where all of the Justice League was evil in that reality. I'm not sure if they were called the Justice League. The Gold Superman Prime 1 million might be a good guy, but another Superboy Prime who's younger has been the bad guy while Superboy Prime wasn't evil. Superboy Prime just had his vision of how he would like things to be and if anyone got in his way they were his enemies. Superboy Prime is a dictator like Adolf Hitler but Adolif Hitler was never a criminal. All of the enemies are going to be extremely intelligent and really challenge Justice League with Batman and Superman. When Batman gets older he's a lot stronger because of better alloys for his suit, better technology, he has great health and habits, and he wears an automated cold fusion powered full body brace underneath his suit when he goes into combat which greatly augments his strength which you can see a mixture of in The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight Returns, and Kingdom Come.

I thought that was very simple and made sense.

Well said, man. I have been thinking along the same line for quite sometime now. It has always been kryptonite, and Batman is smarter than that. We might get to see a very different form of kryptonite, who knows.

Lex Luthor can make the red Kryptonite that makes Superman evil when Lex Luthor is trying to create a material to take control of Superman. That can give Batman a reason to fight Superman when he sees Superman doing lots of damage. Batman was threatened when he saw what happened as the human race almost got wiped out and had been preparing to take on a powerful foe whether it's Superman or other extraterrestrials. Batman also doesn't trust Superman yet because Superman is from another planet, and Batman always prepares for the worst.

Lex Luthor found some remnants of Krypton which is how he made the red Kryptonite. He may also get some green Kryptonite to first weaken Superman. If he doesn't use red Kryptonite he could just use green Kryptonite and then hypnotize Superman while Superman is weakened to follow Lex Luthor's will.

I think they are going to stay away from hypnosis and mind control. Both of them will stand against each other with some organic reason. Yes, Batman has always had trust issues, which is why he likes to keep an eye over everything. He must have got that "you are not alone" transmission too, which is followed by the destruction of Metropolis. All of this will obviously force Batman and Lex to come up with devices to neutralize Superman if required. I feel Lex will be playing more of a political catalyst in the majority of the movie. The remains of the world engine and spaceships are going to play some role. Kryptonite might as well be a synthesized substance instead of a radioactive element, we never know! Also, we probably won't be hearing the term "kryptonite" so much, just like "Superman"
I don't want this movie to focus entirely on their fight :/1 like
I like your explanation. That's a good way too. Lex Luthor could brainwash Superman so he can use him to attack the city, and then Lex Luthor can also try to destroy Superman himself with his technology to promote his technology to sell. It would help build up his business revenue. Batman sees Superman attacking Metropolis and he goes to attack Superman too. Superman tried to bust Lex Luthor by finding his criminals and uncovering him for black market crimes Lex Luthor was doing. Lex Luthor's men let Lex Luthor know he was coming after him, and Lex Luthor had the perfect plan he had been planning in advance for such an occasion. Lex Luthor was raised by his dad Lionel Luthor to think like this. Lex Luthor created Metallo in case Superman turned on him with the brainwashing, so that can be added to the movie too. Lex Luthor also wants to frame Superman so no one would believe Superman that Lex Luthor has black market business and the plan of world domination. Everyone just sees Lex Luthor as a highly prestigious billionaire with a very rich and successful company. Lex Luthor also kills off the competition and hides it behind petty criminals so that he can stay on top, and he does a ton of illegal business on top of that. Lex Luthor is also a leader in inhumane black market scientific research which is a much cheaper method and makes him a lot more money. Like Batman, Lex Luthor had also been preparing for such a situation that aliens would come to take over the world again such as what may happen with Darkseid. Lex Luthor can eventually get into creating the Legion of Doom. Lex Luthor may eventually be caught as a criminal but he pays for good lawyers to get away with it from the law system, and he also pays his way out of everything.
I wish they would do the easiest strategies the antagonists would do to win, while the protagonists would come up with the easiest effective strategies too. I always think how to get the most results and how to make it as easy as possible while always coming up with more more advanced plans to do so and since that works in real life they should do that in the movies. It would still appear complex but it would make a lot more sense. The comic books simplified this which you don't see as much in a lot of movies.

Like you said in the second para, nothing should feel forced or out of place. I hope Affleck has some input in script development, which would be invaluable! MoS had flaws in character development and the pacing of story.

So far everything about the DC movies made so far and the ones that are being made seemed forced and out of place. Affleck royally sucks from everything I've heard about him. I get the strong feeling DC's going to fail because Affleck's apart of it.

You're saying Kryptonite is organic and hypnosis/mind control isn't organic when hypnosis/mind control exists in real life and Superman doesn't have powers to resist hypnosis? But the only other problem is how do you subdue Superman without Kryptonite? Why would Batman trust Lex Luthor, Batman doesn't trust anybody? That was a problem with The Dark Knight Rises, as Batman was so much wiser in the comic books and knew people thoroughly so while he didn't trust people it was just a strong quality that worked well for his individual personality while it wouldn't work for other people to have that. Unlike with the Nolan Batman movies which Batman was too trusting in them the entire time. Rachel Dawes didn't even care about him and he got so attached to her, same with Catwoman. It's just not Batman's personality. In all of Nolan's Batman movies Batman just waits to get screwed over, while in the comic books Batman went out to collect names, gather information, kick ass, and he didn't wait for anything.

No, I'm talking about why they should engage in a fight. Mind control just doesn't appeal to me, and wouldn't be a good way to go either. Superman should have a legit reason to punch Batman, and vice versa. I mean compare their clashes from The Dark Knight Returns and Hush. I think we will see some kryptonite after all. I can't think of any other way. Or the concept or red sun can be brought into play! Lets wait and watch!
Yea, Dark Knight trilogy was quite a deviation from the source. Nevertheless that trilogy is a great piece of cinema, a game-changer. hopefully the next Batman will be a definitive take.

I can just see Batman being done much better and even to surpass the comic books in many ways. As far as capability it depends who's written Batman, but he's outsmarted Darkseid before but that could have just been in the animated movie where Batman was on Apokolips. Then you want to bring Batman's greatest capability to making it happen on the big screen which is a whole different story. The hypnosis/mind control is a great angle to introduce Lex Luthor and to get him into the whole fold. It's also a great way to bring in Metallo and then later on Bizarro because Lex Luthor also collects Superman's DNA. Lex Luthor can also get the hope key from Superman to start his advanced technology to then create Super Lex Luthor (with that super suit), the Legion of Doom, and his further plans to fight with Brainiac to take over Earth. I don't know if the hope key will tell Lex Luthor anything because the Jor-El hologram may not allow Lex Luthor to use it, unless Lex Luthor can find a loop hole. Lex Luthor keeps a copy of the key if Superman gets the key back, or Lex Luthor has an excavated Kryptonian ship in good enough condition for it's computer to be fully functional he found long ago he encrypted all of the information of the hope key to, and when Superman creates the Fortress of Solitude Lex Luthor would be able to infiltrate the fortress because of his hope key copy or because of his copy of encrypted information which told him how to produce the hope key and how to produce all of Kryptonian technology. While Lex Luthor has this technology he's still learning how to use it. This can help Lex Luthor get to new heights in his business empire, his plan for presidency, and his ultimate plan for world domination. Lex Luthor needs a lot of funding for his secret Kryptonian technology and so he even continues a lot more crime and black market research while also running a highly legitimate rich corporation. It's a multi-billion dollar corporation and Lex Luthor is a muli-billionaire as is Bruce Wayne. The Kryptonian technology is too expensive to market but Lex Luthor uses it for his own personal technological efforts against Superman and it also helps Lex Luthor to make new breakthroughs to different markets with his company in both his legitimate business and in the black market portion of his business. Lex Luthor has always been shown as the antichrist of the Superman series, while Gog and Magog were also comic books interpretations of Earth antichrists loosely based on the biblical Gog and Magog antichrists.

There's different type of kryptonite and each kryptonite have a different effect on Superman. Lex can even create an artificial kryptonite with a specific effect on Superman. The kryptonite could've been sent to the earth during the expedition of Supergirl on earth as seen in the comic book of the Man of steel prequel. When Zod ship was entering different solar system he brought rocks from the solar system of krypton. Supergirl could've brought rocks in our world when she entered our solar system. So kryptonite could be on earth even before Man of Steel.
Or some kryptonite could've entered our solar system when Superman was sent to earth.
I like the idea that Batman and Superman are going to fight for some other reason and some new dynamic for natural reasons which is different than any other written type of storyline with them and it hasn't been done yet.
That's a really good thesis, I might use this next time for my english assignment, aside of the fact, you're right but doesn't Metallo also use kryptonite against Clark too? Or will Lex create a suit and just call it that as a prototype to take down Superman if Batman can't.

Yeah, I was thinking Lex Luthor would put Kryptonite into Metallo from an excavated Kryptonian ship. He hypnotizes and brainwashes Superman to attack the city and then he attacks Superman with Metallo. Superman was going to reveal Lex Luthor's black market business so Lex Luthor turned Superman into the bad guy so that no one would believe Superman that Lex Luthor is doing this illegal business. Lex Luthor has Metallo attack Superman so that Lex Luthor can gain more credibility with his shareholders as the hero, and to gain their investments into Lex Luthor's technology by Lex Luthor showing them what his technology can do. Did the Kryptonite enter through Superman's crash site, and maybe Lionel Luthor, Lex Luthor's dad, found that Kryptonite years ago. The Kryptonite could have followed the ship when the explosion took place, or the Kryptonite can be what powers the ships but also happens to be Superman's weakness. I think red Kryptonite is an artificial version of Kryptonite that makes Superman temporarily evil. Lex Luthor could have gotten Kryptonite from another excavated Kryptonian ship or he could have gotten instructions on how to create it from the hope key he may steal and then reproduce the encrypted information of it into the excavated ship while he may then lose the original hope key to Superman again while Lex Luthor has the encrypted information and the excavated ship still which Superman doesn't know about. Kryptonite would never be able to make it through Earth unless it was in a Kryptonian ship that is on Earth, or if it entered into the sub-space warp with the ships when they entered Earth, same with Superman's pod when he was a baby. Superman went to Earth through sub-space which is how he got to Earth right away otherwise it would take possibly millions of years or longer for him to get to Earth without sub-space drive and he would have to have been put through suspended animated which is highly possible, same with Zod and his gang. But it makes a lot more sense that they used sub-space drive and so that's how they got to Earth so quickly as advanced civilizations would have sub-space drive. Sub-space makes it to where you can travel through anywhere in time and space in an instant (which is much less than a second) if you input the right coordinates.

Agreed with him. Respect the source material and trying write the best history possible its the right path, several times fans dont know what to do and how to do.
I wouldn't mind seeing Batman get the upper hand on Superman if Batman comes up with an excellent plan to give Superman this challenge in the battle. With our modern science there's ways to take down Superman which I've looked up. Superman is still just beginning so there's a lot he does not know. Superman can learn a lot more down the line. Superman Prime is a much older incarnation of the immortal Superman from the far future who has utilized technology to bring himself to a much higher level while modern day Superman from this Universe considers it excessive and unnecessary for him to do so. But if you saw All Star Superman animated movie you can see the present time Superman does eventually start exploring into different types of advanced technology with what he knows of Earth, Kryptonian, and many other types of science from other planets so he has some advanced tools he can create through science. Batman right now has billions of dollars which I would guess his company makes $150 billion a year, and so he would own a lot of his own personal money. With billions of dollars Batman can easily fund his own technology to take on the modern day Superman, especially since the modern day Superman hasn't delved into his own advanced technology himself. It will be fun to see Batman and Superman challenge eachother with wits and physical prowess when fighting eachother and then when working together to show their creative sides, their wisdom, and their know how.
One thing people never realize when Batman fights Superman is that its NEVER a fair fight. And by that i mean Batman cheats heavily, he has too. And Batman has an tech and Equipment that can hold off a small Army, he doesn't just use kryptonite to fight superman. Its 2013 he uses Satellite Weapons, Advance AI Controlled Predator Drones, holograms for distraction, and my personal Favorite "Handheld Rocket Boosters". Since Batman cant punch somebody thru a wall Like Superman, he attaches one of these on to an Enemy and he sends them flying... Literally. http://www.youtube.com/watc... All of these weapons are in the comic books. But Anyways I just cant wait to see this fight on flim, I've... i mean we all been waiting for this for Years

well of course its not a fair fight, superman is an alien with "super" powers lmao going against a mortal human thanx captain obvz o.O

when i said its not Fair fight.... i meant superman would be the one at a disadvantage. Because Batman does not fight fair with meta humans.

Batman has always been about bending the environment and conditions to suit his favour, to give him an advantage against those super powered beings and weapons, such as Green Lantern and yes, Superman. This is how Batman goes toe to toe with them, as without these little 'cheats', aka a one-on-one fight to the death, Batman would probably lose horribly. A flick by Superman will kill Batman, as will Green Lantern making a shield become impenetrable and make a fighter jet or something to hunt for Batman. If Batman has a superpower it's in his planning. His plans against these super powered beings will include using little "cheats" along the way. It's what makes Batman Batman and I call it good preparation.

I'm not even sure how this clash between Batman & Superman is even going to work? A conflict I can see. A difference of opinion; certainly. But a full out fight? It's not like the president is going to send Superman after Batman this early in the game. And Batman isn't going to take on Superman over a difference in personalities.
I wonder if something happens to Superman and he goes rogue. (We still don't know who the bad guy in this movie will be) Superman is the threat for some reason and Batman has the smarts to take him down.
Batman can kick Superman in the balls which would take him down permanently in a fight, the stronger they are the harder they fall when you kick them in the balls. I personally don't kick in the balls or kick because that makes the fight way too easy.
Goyer: We're a lot further than people realize.
People: Sooo, can we get the official movie title, or...?
Batman puts a few billion dollars in his technology of an assortment of weapons to take on Superman and any invading alien races which will be very good with Legion of Doom, Braniac, Darkseid and his planetary army, and Gog and Magog with their renegade superhero army (who want to take the law into their own hands and they don't care how many innocent casualties there are in their cause) come to take over the planet which are all different situations. Other people they would prepare against are the Anti-Monitor, that guy from the 5th dimension, Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman (He first appears as a Cyborg when he goes through his first transformation after an accident. He only appears as Superman for one time and then every other time he has a Cyborg form which looks and acts much different than Superman with many different abilities), and Superboy Prime, maybe Superman Prime 1 million too. I don't know how the planet New Genesis would be involved but they could somehow be involved when it comes to the conflict with Apokolips. The Legion of Doom is very tough because of all of the money Lex Luthor makes with his illegal business. Batman's assortment are a cyborg suit, underneath that a full body motorized brace suit, a better quality light Batman suit over his full body motorized brace suit, a ton of different weapons, land, water, and sky craft, and many other things. Batman may also bring together a team to help out so he can concentrate more with the Justice League. Young Justice and Titans may be created too. Lobo is an interesting character. Doomsday is more of a Superman enemy so I wonder how Superman would just take him on without Batman getting involved. Maybe Batman tries fighting him too as well does the entire Justice League. Batman has developed compact hydrogen and compact cold fusion technology to power his stuff which exists in real life if you actually looked at any of the real research and actually cared about anything. Bruce Wayne is personally worth atleast 50 billion dollars while his company generates 150 billion dollars a year. Batman's business has been booming since Miranda Tate and Daggett went out of business.
thank you goyer for making superman a dark brooding emo retard in MoS and now with batfleck casting i'm sure you and snyder gonna make Batman a boyscout with boston accent

So far DC's really gay and retarded in all of the decisions up to this point.

I've taken part in dozens, if not hundreds, of Batman vs Superman arguments over the years and I can easily recognize someone's stance based on key phrases and attitude. The "even though it makes no sense whatsoever cause if Superman just flicked his finger Batman would be done for" is and has been for years pretty much the key argument for the pro-superman side, and furthermore the way he said "comic book purist would say..." in sort of a condescending way as if it to say "batman fanboys would say..." All this tells me he is definitely on the Superman side of the argument so unless he's forced to compromise by the studio/director, I imagine we're going to see the type of encounter we got in the new 52, where Superman basically grabbed Batman by the throat and effortlessly handled him.
They would have to end up in a draw to make everyone simi happy
I hope we'll have a cameo of Martian Manhunter, of Flash and a brief cameo of Wonder Woman. At first i thought that Green Arrow would be good, but now i don't think so.

If Green Arrow's making a cameo, it might make the Dark Knight Returns reference too obvious. . . That said, I DO want them to make a DK Returns movie

Although I don't see it also, I do hope they'll at least take it into consideration... the movie's revelation had, after all, that iconic Batman talking to Superman as he held his throat, the culmination of everything TDK Returns... A man can hope, can't he? hahaha

I',m a big fan of Martian Manhunter. I feel it would be better if they saved Manhunter for a "phase 2" movie(assuming they are going to follow a format similar to Marvel's)? Also, there's no MM in the new 52 JL, which is disappointing. Pretty sure WB/DC will keep a couple of big names for later. They don't wanna run out of ammo in the first round.

I hope Lex will team up with Metallo, or Lobo or even both, like an Injustice League. And after that they can proceed with Brainiac, Darkseid and Doomsday.
Superman's goodness will hold him back from completely destroying Batman. But Batman's going to need some kind of equalizer to compete. Look for kryptonite to be introduced.

Maybe the kryptonite could decrease Superman's powers but not retrieve them completely, and then we can have a fair fight.

how come no report of the Gotham TV Show?
I don't want the clash between Superman and Batman to be the primary focus of the movie.
lol
They cast Batman before finishing the script?
This is still going to be a Superman sequel, so I feel that despite all the fighting and action with Batman, people are going to be rooting for Superman because he's the one that carries his conscience externally than Batman. Batman I feel is going to be the anti-villain until they team up and fight the real enemy at the end, whoever that is going to be.
Their victory in the end will only turn around and cause even a greater catastrophe, and with that, you now have reason to introduce the Justice League.
Gah! He's got meh all excited for the movie!!!!!
does anyone knows how batman suit is going to be?

now you know how both the batsuit's will look like
